  1. It is shown on the DVLA computer as a 1993 Hindustan saloon. I have travelled in dozens of these. I think it is a Hindustan original.
  2. I would 3D draw it at 1:1 scale then reduce the size to 1/50. To get the 1/50 scale size just divide each dimension by 50, so:- Height 1160/50 = 23.2mm Length 1200/50 = 24.0mm Width 1000/50 = 20.0mm
  3. I worked in around the docks at Dover for about 8 years in the mid 1960s - early 1970s period. It was an interesting place to view cars not often seen in the UK. Just wished I had had the foresight to photograph them all. On one occasion I saw three Volvo P544s together in the petrol filling station. Prototype for everything.. Now, maybe I need to badger Oxford for a Hindustan Ambassador like the one I saw by the Connaught Rooms in London a few years back.
  4. Yes Mike, but the catalogue went to press before last weekend's announcements. I'd be putting my money on Q1/2019!

  8. I am fairly certain that the N gauge thread on here is not the place to gain support for a 00 gauge 320/321. Why not start your own topic with a survey to see how much support there is? A proposition with a few hundred supporters would probably be easier to sell, especially as you would have done the initial speculative legwork rather than expecting a small or large company to do it. Have Bratchell said they are not interested?
  9. Yatming also did the Saab 9_3 cabriolet in a vivid yellow in their 1/72 range. Still around at Toyfairs.
  10. You can still get one. RailNscale's retaliation to the legal action was to issue a broken down BMW lookalike but not using the BMW name. https://www.shapeways.com/product/XGFCQTN6B/car-breakdown-british-n-1-148?li=shareProduct
  11. This is the Cararama one next to a modern Oxford Scania fire pump. https://i95.servimg.com/u/f95/12/12/53/02/carara10.jpg
  12. This thread does not seem to be working for its intended purpose. Seeing as the other thread is now a huge picture gallery might it be better to make this thread the one for the specific project updates with no photographs allowed. ;-)
  13. Oxford Diecast added a Maxi to there list of proposed releases. https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/products/austin-maxi-tara-green-76mx001
  14. These will be announced to the trade tomorrow with supporting images. The list below has been distilled from about 40 Facebook posts from the Oxford Diecast team. This is the listing for scales other than 1/76. The following newly listed items were announced by Oxford Diecast this evening 8 June 2018:- 1/148 scale NNMN005 New Mini British Racing Green and Union Jack Q4/2018 NFDE004 Ford 400E Van Royal Mail Q4/2018 NFT021 Ford Transit Mk5 Stobart Fleet Maintenance Q4/2018 NMN007 Mini Car RAF Q4/2018 NLRT004 Leyland Royal Tiger Maidstone & District Q4/2018 NNR007 New Routemaster First West Yorkshire Q4/2018 NWFA002 Weymann Fanfare Grey Cars Q4/2018 New castings NDIS001 Land Rover Discovery 4 Ipanema Sand Q4/2018 NMW6001 Bristol MW6G Royal Blue Q4/2018 1/43 scale 43LAN188024 Land Rover Series I 88" Canvas Bronze Green (Plimsoll) Q4/2018 43LR2AS003 Land Rover Series IIA SWB Station Wagon Pastel Green Q4/2018 43LRL006 Land Rover Lightweight Hard Top Fred Dibnah Q4/2018 43RRP3003 Rolls Royce Phantom III SDV Mulliner Claret/Black Q4/2018 43RRP5003 Rolls Royce Phantom V James Young Windsor Blue Q4/2018 New casting 43CF001 Bedford CF Ice Crean Van/Morrison Mr Whippy Q2/2019 1/50 scale Early development 50FST001 JCB Fastrac Q1/2019 1/72 scale AC089 Lavochkin LA7 Sergei Federovich Dolgushin - 156 Fighter Reg. 1945 Q4/2018 72WD001 Westland Dragonfly Royal Navy WH991Yorkshire Air Museum Q2/2019 72BE002 Twin Beech - FT996-811-HF 728 Squadron RNAS Hal Far Malta 1948 Q1/2019 72DG003 DH84 Dragon EI- ABI IOLAR Q4/2018 1/87 scale New colour 87CP65005 Chevrolet Stepside Pick Up 1965 White Q4/2018 New tooling 87CC61001 Chrysler 300 Convertible 1961 (Open) Mardi Gras Red Q4/2018 87DC68001 Dodge Charger 1968 Bright Red Q4/2018 87DD69001 Dodge Charger Daytona 1969 Black Q4/2018 87DP57001 Dodge D100 Sweptside Pick Up 1957 Tropical Coral/Glacier White Q4/2018 87DS46001 DeSoto Suburban 1946-48 Noel Green Q4/2018
  15. ……….and there is a dealer margin in there too.
  16. Adam Floyd’s excellent Flickr page has a selection. This link is to Austin ones, some with those large Base Toys filler hatches. Should be possible to put one together from RTI pieces or for other chassis using the Base Toys tank. https://www.flickr.com/search/?ytcheck=1&new_session=1&text=austin%20tanker
  17. Pictures of the first pulls from the body mould, and a part painted interior are on the Rapido Trains Facebook pages. For the fearful you do not have to be registered with Facebook to view these. https://www.facebook.com/rapidotrains/photos/a.111655425586997.24923.109954372423769/1680823682003489/?type=3&theater https://www.facebook.com/rapidotrains/photos/pb.109954372423769.-2207520000.1526554230./1683913831694474/?type=3&theater
  18. Another “Yes” for the stripped down half set plan.
  19. I know Dave is not going to tell me the answer, but I wonder what the minimum production quantity needed was at the current listed prices. Not enough punters at the current level, so would doubling the numbers get it over the line? or 4 times the number at 60 % of the price? Simplifying the design might help shave the tooling costs, but for a fully representative train there are 5 bodyshell tools and 5 different interior tools, four glazing tools plus 4/5 chassis variations, and 4/5 bogie types, etc. etc. depending whether there is an unpowered motor car. So for a small run - half the size of the 1000+ Pendolino - getting the price to an attractive enough level will be a major challenge. This is one case where it would be helpful for Dave/Mick to give us a ballpark price/volume idea. That almost worked for the original Kickstarter Pendolino, and ultimately there were more takers for the Plan B Rapido-backed answer.
  20. Of course getting the viable batch size down would be ideal. With the factory making in 4 different scales with different demand levels the downtime from changing over from one small “paint and print” run to another might move N even further down the pecking order. Maybe someone should try to commission runs of 500 to see how the price gets affacted.
  21. That only applied to the Pendolino when the Kickstarter fell short by 7% of its target. Subsequent models are sourced from other factories as well as Rapido’s. Revolution do ring fence funds for each separate project. Some are coming to fruition quickly now.
  22. Like the revised format @DJM Dave . I am happy to go with the really simplest version if it can be made price attractive enough to get enough punters. If the power car is standalone, picking up its own current, but with enough tyres for optimum adhesion, that eliminates the need for through wiring, albeit at the expense of a decoders in the driving coaches. For lighting, the bogie pivot might make. a good two pole power route. Hobbytrain did this with a 5 car TEE unit long ago, even though they over-complicated it by using spring wires as the two pole connectors through the gangway.
  23. I guess the issue is “would they sell another 2000 from a new run?”
  24. The catalogue shows “range” items marked with a filled red square. Apart from the Red RM with “London Transport” markings each RM is a one off run. That is the collectors’ market for you. :-)
  25. Due to Lyndon Davies’ second job, the announcements may just slip into June, and coincide with the June-September catalogue. More announcements planned for September so never any need to stop frothing.
