  1. The EFE Leyland TS8 single deck buses have the correct front mudguards and a version of the radiator used on some TD5s. I have used them for my East Kent TD5s.
  2. You have quoted the removable seat issue several times. I'd be interested to know what you would feel is a fair compromise. I've put 4 levels below. A) Keep the floor at the correct level. If the floor is to be at the correct level, the injection moulding tool would be fiendishly complicated to include the correctly shaped seats, if not separately installed. B) If you move the floor up to seat level, you lose the airiness of the interior. But a lot of people were happy with the Dapol Class 122 railcar with a floor almost at this level. Painting the seats will highlight the compromise. C) A really nice simple moulding would be moving the floor up a bit higher, almost level with the window sills. Just put on a bit of paint for the antimaccassars. D) No interior at all, just tint the glazing heavily.
  3. None of the Cortinas has sold out yet. https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/search?q=ncor3*
  4. Think you missed the smiley off the first sentence. I would be surprised if a manufacturer started spending on CADs and tooling before having confirmation of the licence. So the soonest start date would be when the internal decision is taken. Pricing must take account of licensing costs, but licences are vehicle shape and scale specific, so the smaller N market with smaller individual runs will bear a higher cost per unit. Just to be clear, it was my choice to use the expression “test case” for the N Cortina. I don’t think Oxford see it as such, but a quick sell out of the yellow Cortina would have sent a message that the period is one that appeals to N gaugers. So far it is not showing as “sold out”, although some of the earlier productions are. https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/collections/by-scale?constraint=1-148+out-of-stock
  5. EFE used to have a detailed checklist of info required for them to look at a new livery. What has worked for me with Oxford has been submitting a detailed dossier including plans and fleet lists. Do a lot of the research yourself and your wishlist is much more likely to become a worthwhile project.
  6. I think they say that the licensing is costly, and the licensing and approval process is long. Looking at the catalogue you can see scores of Fords in 3 scales, so Oxford is willing to make them if they think they will sell enough to earn a return better than they can from making something else. The Mk3 Cortina is a good test case in N for how well the era sells.

    Unifrog?

I do not have an N gauge Unifrog point but I have purloined and relabelled these images from the French N Forum where similar discussions have been taking place, though with much greater support for the DCC-friendly nature of the new set up. As Grahame showed above the curved route through rail is wired directly to the straight route stock rail, and the straight route through rail is wired to the curved route stock rail via the switch rail/stock rail bond.
  8. I've been living with wrong light grey colours for the past 45 years at least. Every N gauge Corail coach maker chooses their own pale grey, but strangely enough put them in a train and the differences are not so noticeable. This Scotrail photo shows how perception of colour can vary when viewing a whole train where the liveries are totally mismatched. My brain struggles to work out which greys are the same. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7567/15230704893_eebdd15f7a_c.jpg
  9. As reported elsewhere on RMWeb the meeting was with the owners of RevolutioN Trains. A previous meeting was on the Nene valley Railway. So the only need for froth was on the coffee or the beer, I suspect. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/134254-off-to-brum-again/?p=3176667
  10. The business is still going under the control of John Ayrey Diecasts, I believe. Their web page lists the full Base Toys, BT, Britbus ranges. http://www.ayrey.co.uk/startframe.html
  11. But I would buy a complete teapot with a handle and spout, but not quite the right RAL orange for SNCF original Corail coach doors, much as I like the colour, and my "near" enough Corail livery mug.
  12. I think that the big problem with this one is that if @BritishRail60062 really wants the train, restricting it to the Rapido Trains part of RMWeb is not going to get the support from the modern 00 gauge modellers with huge layouts. Rapido aren't interested in this project, when there is already a Hornby version selling, and no sign of a crowd of people clamouring for a new version. If there was a market for the articulated intermediate coaches, I would have expected Hornby to have made them. But to use them properly the train becomes a minimum of eight cars so not exactly what you need on peoples' 8' x 4' layouts. Having said that my 2+14 Kato Eurostars in original and current livery look great on my 10' x 2.2' layout with a long diagonal straight where they can swish past several other full length Kato TGVs (PSE orange, Ligne de Coeur, Thalys PBKA (two liveries), Duplex (two liveries), POS, Lyria, Réseau, AVE, etc) or some Revolution 11 car Pendolinos. Full length trains look great in N even using Rule One, and compromised part length trains in 00 gauge will always look wrong to me on a small layout.
  13. Hornby Jouef have announced extra Thalys and Duplex trains for the end of 2018. Must be a relief for Jason. https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/brands/jouef-h0-1-87/new-for-2018/jouef-autumn-winter-range.html?utm_campaign=2131806_Hornby%20-%20International%20Range%20Winter%202018&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Hornby%20PLC&utm_content=Jouef&_%24ja=tsid%3A71284&dm_i=2DJZ,19OWU,230K08,42N0E,1
  14. It is quite possible to over-dramatize this, isn't it? A discontinued email address would "bounce" and notify the senders. A continuing address would be monitored, by whoever decided to continue paying for the address. Not many people have perpetual redirection on their physical mail Post a letter by all means, but with no reply to that either, every reasonable route would have been exhausted.
  15. It will be interesting to see whether the N_Train Titan works out. I have not yet seen a photo of one to judge the quality of the 3d print. Surprised there is not a product photo on the shop page. http://n-train.net/epages/deba4b2c-2faa-4fd7-967f-c57d7bf70bd2.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/deba4b2c-2faa-4fd7-967f-c57d7bf70bd2/Products/Bus006
  16. Forgot to say he is 92 and blind. Stopped being able to manage a bank account five years ago, but still wants to pay his way.
  17. He does not have a bank account. If he had one he could pay his own phone bill. We have given up with Santander and Halifax trying to set up a way for him to pay cash into one of her accounts. Not the place here for that part of the discussion. The facility to pay cash into a 3rd party account is not readily available.
  18. Not sure that you can pay into third party accounts at branches anymore. More money laundering prevention. My father-in-law used to pay £5 a week into my wife's account, which she used to pay his phoine bill. No longer possible.
  19. There's a scrap Cortina on Black Coountry Blues. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/56607-black-country-blues/page-237&do=findComment&comment=1307822
  20. They are for the reach stackers and are present on both 00 and N scale containers.

  22. Jason Shron gave his official view on this in this thread three years ago. Post #8 explains. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/87417-rapido-trains-french-release/
  23. Might find a few 1/76 alternatives here:- https://www.a2models.nl/index.php?item=1_76-dublo-models&action=page&group_id=22&lang=nl Pre-colouring is a plus, solid windows a minus, and the sugary texture decidedly odd.
  24. There is a starting point here in 1/50 scale. https://www.shapeways.com/product/VTGMX8GNF/ibc-water-tank-1100-2-pack-1-50-scale?optionId=65240380&li=marketplace
  25. That PD3 could look good in Top Deck Travel livery. I know they were keen on Lodekkas which could run anywhere in Europe without bashing overbridges, but you could focus on a UK usage. If you do not want to remodel the interior for sleeping and feeding there are lots of windows you could blank out crudely, but otherwise a straightforward repaint. https://cms.topdeck.travel/images/images/media/Topdeck-Old-Buses.jpg http://www.indiaoverland.biz/overland/operators/images/TopDeck/topdeck-bus1.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2255/2239812852_835009bd6e_z.jpg?zz=1
