  1. Although I am in for 14 cars, if an alternative route is needed I would support a base 7 car set of DTS + TRSB + TBF + M +TBF + TRSB + DTS. with a pre-order option for 3 car add-ons of TU + TF + TS, and an unpowered M. A 4 axle M power car with traction tyres should be able to cope with a full 14 car set which has 16 trailer bogies - fewer than my 2 + 14 Eurostar set which has 2 motored and 18 trailer bogies, and manages 2% gradients and carefully laid 9 inch curves too, on my layout. I can certainly manage with basic interiors, no tilt, and no fancy nose set-up. Tinted glazing can conceal a lot.
  2. I think Michael Pearce who designed the cattle truck has confirmed it is an amalgam of various types including the one in the photo I linked. On the front loader, there are many options available, and to produce one bespoke version would make it less suitable for other versions. Most people would see it for what it is .... a big ugly front loader. I think it captures that very well. The modeller can always adapt it to their specific desires if they are important.
  3. Cattle truck prototype is here:- http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2857/10871668513_49007dbd21.jpg Front loader is similar to this one:- http://www.rbunton.co.uk/plant-hire-item/volvo-l180c-loading-shovel/ Were used for loading MGR wagons from stockpile at Immingham Docks in 1990s.
  4. DJModels have good reason to lay claim to having produced N gauge models (Mermaid), with many more in the pipeline (Class 92, King, Class 17, more wagons). And look out for Oxford's May announcement.
  5. The unclassified coach provided restaurant seating for either first or second class ticket holders. You see it in many restaurant car designations such as Mk 1 RU and RUB, HST TRUB. In the APT it was marshalled next to the restaurant/buffet coach.
  6. I think that this is due entirely to the number of wheelsets insulated by the traction tyres, so intermediate cars are needed to supply continuous power. This is a heavy train with lots of bogies, my eleven car set has 22 bogies. Remarkably my 2 + 14 Kato Eurostar only has 20 bogies, is a much lighter train, has no interior lighting, and has a single power car with traction tyres. Both the Pendolino and the Eurostar are at the top of my favourites list.
  7. Last Newsletter I received was 5 January 2018.
  8. Maybe Hornby should have made it in N and subcontracted the design, testing and manufacture to Rapido/RevolutioN Trains or even Kato. Obviously struggling with getting their IEP 800 to work reliably on some 00 gauge layouts. :-)
  9. The bogies were O&K’s own interpretation of the standard bogie found in Germany but upgraded for 25.5 tonne axleloads, and required spacing. Hence its resemblance to the ones used under Cargowaggon/VTG Ferrywagon hoods, sliding wall vans, and flats.
  10. Base Toys make an NCL Karrier artic in 00and N. EFE 40201 is a National Carriers/BR labelled Atkinson tractor unit withan REPS trailer.
  11. From memory these PXAs mostly come with Schlieren bogies, as you have modelled. Just a few of the higher numbered ones have (Gloucester ?) 3 piece bogies, found under some Farish wagons.
  12. The Carflat As have arrived. Now just have to be patient until my order is ready for payment. https://www.facebook.com/NGaugeSociety/?hc_ref=ART6NyxNpPgXZG0kJbmrjj4n4bZOQGDYksEiwTQ_xN3m0K1nro0QkfY1Fg7Sd6kz3dQ&fref=nf
  13. I have played village cricket on grounds/fields not much bigger than the Peco diorama. It is missing the molehills and a largely uneven surface.
  14. The RRP for the prototype Deltic was £89.95 when announced in 2010 according to the list with my catalogue. However on release in 2011 it had risen to £109.95 according to the list with the 2011/12 catalogue. So the current RRP of £144.95 is 32% higher than 7 years ago, so an annual average increase of 4.6%.
  15. I can't really see the issue here with the 00 version getting support more quickly than N. Great for the 00 gauge guys. I would not want to see them lose out because not enough people come forward to make the N one viable. As I posted above in message #186 what more do we need to do to get the N numbers up?
  16. I can sympathise with Simon's original point. I did not expect all of his designs to have been test printed....nobody has that amount of spare cash to spend on a load of prints that they are never going to use. Not many people are modelling a specific train in multiple scales. I am sure that others also get approached to "give away" the .stl drawing to print at home. I have done this only once for a very obscure item. The recipient complained vociferously that his machine could not print it satisfactorily and that I should revisit the drawing!
  17. I was not aware of the 30 day limit on claims.............when Monarch Airlines went bust last year I phoned American Express, they took the details, and credited my account immediately. I had written confirmation of the transaction within 7 days. https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/section-75-of-the-consumer-credit-act
  18. With the 00 gauge news that just 50 more orders are needed for the 00 gauge “Go” button to be pushed, what do we all need to do to get the N gauge version over the line too. Already made my full set commitment.
  19. With the 00 gauge news that just 50 more orders are needed for the 00 gauge “Go” button to be pushed, what do we all need to do to get the N gauge version over the line too. Already made my full set commitment. Edit:- Now posted in the APT topic. Thanks to @Andy Y for spotting my mistake.
  20. Need to get the prayer mat out to get the N gauge version on the move too. Already committed to a 14 car set.
  21. Where's the bit about £350 million per week for the NHS?

I have a few continental models where there is a right and wrong way to put in the geared wheel for optimum mesh. 0.5mm can make a difference in N.
  23. I would not place a great deal of reliance on the information on the Companies House database. I have been trying to get them to correct a serious transcription error for 6 months without success. Unless information has been submitted electronically it seems that there an unwillingness to work on an issue.
  24. If you really want to apply rule #1, Senlac was a Dieppe-Newhaven ferry, reproduced in 1/100 scale as a train ferry. Don’t believe the 1/87 scale claimed. The actual dimensions are 1/100. https://www.regionsetcompagnies.fr/produit/846-ferry-boat-a-quai/
