Get rid of cat, then any residue left behind. Tray then permanently free for modelling,

Have you got a craft shop or toy shop that sell plastic kits within reach ? They might be able to help.

I was in the same position, and didn't want to imitate a brass monkey in my cold garage. Fortunately, having a study which is no longer used as such, enabled me to persuade 'er indoors to let me convert it to a modelling centre ! Oh, joy !

That siding with the "old" asphalt next to it looks really realistic, and doesn't look overcrowded. An excellent job, sir.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this, Mark. I'd love to be involved in this sort of thing, but my skills and health, amongst other things, just wouldn't be up to the job. I'll be pleased to see the next instalment.

I enjoyed those shots, especially of the workshops. There's some serious machiney there.

Worth reading for the high quality of the language used, as well as for the vividness of the description.

Dunno much about Highland Railway, but I can see your point about exuding character. A very nice little wagon, sir. A small piece of ancient kipper glued under the body would exude even more atmosphere.

Excellent idea! Thanks, mate.
Right, this page is going in the modelling directory straight away !

Catches the title "it's grim up North" admirably. Classy modelling !

That photo really captures the time and place. I do like it.

Looks "dirty" enough to me. Does it actually need any more dirtying ? You may decide to weather the accessories when added, but you could end up spoiling the good job you've done so far.
Just my observations, for what they're worth.

Ah, but it's the obvious creativity and attention to detail that makes it for you - running the lumps of plastic and metal backwards and forwards is a secondary consideration. Thanks for the photos, they give a lot of us something to aim at.

Probably better than the original instructions, which in many kits tend to be rather vague. A jolly useful article, thank you.

Sounds a nice proposition. I was going to ask about a trackplan, but I guess we'll have to wait till you've finished the layout ! The only question I'd raise is will you be satisfied in the end with your ad-hoc approach ?

With a dozen Trabants sitting in the scrapyard ?
Interesting idea, Claude. Hope to see pictures at some stage.
