  1. Is traction spread across three cars in the real thing? I thought in a 3 car emu that there were 2 driving cars containing the actual motors that make the noise and the transformer/ electrical gubbins was in the center . What noises would they make ?
  2. yeah if they can do it properly within a price point fine. . But evidence so far is they haven’t . So against holding up this loco further I still say ditch the lights . They just look silly in current form .
  3. Ditch the lights Hornby . It’s a step too far . You’ve turned a model into a toy . And at that price enthusiasts won’t make allowances or compromises
  4. Both I suppose to an extent it depends where the exhibition is for trade , but up in Glasgow there’s not much in the way of local Model Railway shops , so the trade part is quite important to stock up on things like ballast , scenic items , even track etc . I must admit when attending exhibitions I like to see large layouts . Generally Perth and Model Rail Scotland do that well . I sort of agree with Stivesnicks categories . I do remember a large Western Region terminal layout from 10 -15 years ago . Was it Westport, Westcliff or something like that . It certainly appeared in BRM as I remember buying a copy based on inclusion of that layout , but mainly I remember it from Perth. Just watching trains arrive , disposal of stock, engine to mpd for replacement etc . Operation of these layouts is important and is much more likely to get my attention than a large roundy roundy, although I like these too . For a while the GWR branch layout was all over the place , now I find it’s diesel traction depots . Never really understood what people get from the operation of these layouts . It seems they are just a ploy to show off stock . So for me , these are the layouts that get less attention Glad it seems everyone enjoyed Warley . Now I’m speeding to retirement I may well plan a visit next year .
  5. yes I think an odd choice of unit , unless you model the West Midlands and Manchester I suppose ! The 3x3 bit is right but I’d have happily gone for a 313 or 303! Good price though .
  6. I imagine if GM get it running on analogue by turning their controllers to max they will steel a considerable advantage . I do wonder if they will do this , though , as it would effectively torpedo their existing DCC controllers As to Semi autonomous , brand focussed business units …that does make them easy to unravel from the main business and sell off if the opportunity comes up .
  7. Nice one . An AC electric multiple unit at last . Not quite on target for me . I’m still after that elusive 313/314/315 that someone is allegedly making , but I hope it goes well for Dapol . I think people are shying clear of making multiple units , so this is an important model to be successful .
  8. Yeah I thought oh its a B1 then I thought no it can't be a Hall then my face fair lit up when 8F was shown which actually then resulted in complete disappointment when it was a Pannier.Perhaps not the best way to introduce a new model - a bit like winning a speedboat on Bullseye ! I do get it though . A multi variant loco that will keep on giving , with new versions over successive batches I can see why its a Pannier rather than a B16, even though it is a duplication. I think my Bachmann Panniers are OK for now . Competitively priced , though. If in stock at retailers its a maybe . Not pre order material for me though .
  9. Actually when I think about it , quite a lot recently . But only when I really want model and think it may sell out , so in last 2 years L&NWR Precedent, Caley 812 , Jones Goods , Accurascale Deltic and Bachmann Scotrail 158. Before that time never preordered and I really dont like doing it now . Would much prefer to see model arrive , read or view reviews before deciding to buy .
  10. What a tease . Stands in front of a 8F and says "without further ado" .............and pans left onto a pannier ! From excitement to disappointment in one pan ! Still, while probably not for me , there were lots of people been crying out for a new 57xx, so I'm sure it'll be a success . Wishing you all the best with it guys . Less teasing next time please !
  11. A nice Caledonian Blue (various shades) Dunalastair , also LMS Red and Black . Go for a later Caley 4-4-0 and they survived into BR Black . I can but dream........I bet its an 8F
  12. Does look good . Tempted , but the real thing only runs with 156s coupled and we dont have a Spotrail 156 to go with it (unless you fork out for a Realtrack one , assuming still available)
  13. Sounds good . You can see a marketing mans approach to the catalogue . Consistent images through the brand , on the box in the catalogue . Its what floats brand image consultants boats . But the result for the last 10-15 years , with these side on views has been boring . I do collect the catalogues but I must admit the heyday for me was 65-74 , then again in 1980-81. others just merge into one another and are instantly forgettable , especially recent ones . So I'm glad they will maintain a catalogue but lets have something inspiring and completely different . I may be confused because I've watched so many videos , Signalbox , Beyond the Buffers etc but wasn't it mentioned somewhere that Hornby will announce something at Warley ? I know they did in the past when they announced 87 and Duchess at Warley . Might be the well leaked TT120 0-6-0
  14. Wow . Looking at these pictures I have to keep on reminding myself this is N gauge . Looks superb . Good luck with it guys
  15. My sweet spot was about £100 ago !
  16. I would have thought Bachmann will have moved on . I'm sure their justification for models is sales and not just to compete for the sake of it . 37s and 47s markets are big enough to sustain a few manufacturers but I wouldn't have thought so with a 44. Much better they go on and make something that isn't duplicated and will generate more cash for them . Meanwhile back at the 44 . While its nice to see a new model , its coming at a price . I can see resistance to this . We do seem to be having lots of announcements ahead of Warley , with a few more to come I think . I think there is a danger of too many shiny new models competing for limited cash .
  17. Exactly right ! Not helped by the fact that I'm at saturation point with models . I do have a vast number which only see use occasionally , my Bachmann 45xx, being one . And actually when I get these models out , its been so long since last run , its like having a new model to play over again ! So , the shiny - shiny , must have it effect is gone . Last acquisitions have been directly related to Scotland and only when they reach bargain price . Looking forward to the Jones Goods , but thats it !
  18. It already has . Up in Scotland there seem to be Sunday/Monday blockades as Saturday is the busiest day of the week . I think those that can, quite often elect to work from home Mondays and Fridays .
  19. I fully understand , but its not unusual . Have you tried getting someone human in the bank or your gas supplier these days ? Aren't they on Facebook you might get contact that way . Failing that that direct mailing Jenny Emily on here , I know she has done repairs for them and maybe able to forward details .
  20. Och that’s a shame . Am I right in thinking I saw this at Model Rail Scotland ? I’m actually sitting in Appin , just down from Ballachulish now , in fact the Connell to Ballachulish Railway is a cycle track at the bottom of the garden ! Health comes first though , wishing you all the best
