    Nearly a year since we enjoyed a vintage journey from Southall to Brentford and back in 93.

    I didn't know that Volkswagen built a 38XX class.

    It's interesting that with wooden bodies, gas lighting, and a rather large coal fire, I don't recall any stories of steam railmotors catching fire. However at least a couple of the GWR diesel railcars ended up as charred wrecks!

    Two available at Sainsburys, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire - one now! Both on display appear to have lost small parts (oil pots?) from the tops of the con rods.

    No Locomotion in Sainsbury's, Northampton today, but two tatty diesels.

    Would this be 1st March 1979, with KGV backing to Paddington to take the 125 anniversary special to Didcot?I was in the scrum on platform 1 with my cine camera and later in the 'vee' at OOC junction waiting for the aborted return leg.

    Still no sign at Sainsburys in Wellingborough. Looks like they might have stopped stocking after the County no show as well.

    Hope I have better luck finding these two as our local Sainsburys didn't have any Counties. The first time it hasn't had any GBL models and everywhere else local stopped months ago!
