The Company’s site I started working at in 1977 was not in a built up area and had a long system of roadways to the car parks from the security gates, and there were “aladdin’s lamps” along all the roadways, when it got foggy and the poor old security staff had to go out and light each one, they lasted until about 2000 or so as I recall.
They work very well actually as the heat given off by each one tends to eliminate the cold damp air around each one, better than electric lamps.
