  1. Last year (2020) I bought…er…rather Father Christmas delivered the earlier palytrain set to my 2 year old grandson (yes, I know Father Christmas was a little bit “previous” there) and during this year it has been one of his favourite toys, along with some inane childish plastic toys, nothing as important as a train set
  2. Our Cyril has leant to hold onto the top of one of the bird feeders and spin around which make the top unscrew and fall on the ground, little bu99er
  3. It’s not fair singling out the birds in the garden, I think humans have a lot to change also….
  4. Probably literally down to pence versus pounds.
  5. They are called “medical aids” and classed as such in the US (and many other countries) it is only the big off road type which fail that category in the U.K.
  6. I have no idea, it’s something I read in the forum that some Loksound cannot be reblown, certainly the Loksound in my 08 is physically absolutely identical to all my other V4 Loksound, I assumed it might have a software lock on it being an OEM product.
  7. Rotten situation to be in but have you considered renting/using a PO Box as a temporary alternative? Would save you loosing deposits and enable an early position on any lists, it’s not perfect but better than missing out completely.
  8. Was it the Astra Turbo I encountered?
  9. Nice little Fiat Coupe slipped in there……
  10. If you can keep an eye on the O/blood stats, as it caught quite a few people at home out last time as oxygen saturation can become very low without apparent warning.
  11. And TBH honest as the driver you should know your truck is on the limit of its power/weight ratio and wait until there is no incline to catch you out. And yes I have driven HGV but in them days they were just trucks, H series and InterContis.
  12. Exactly, the half and hour was tongue in cheek……oddly The smallest LAIS is the little square type, excellent storage in a tiny package and control included. I find the small LAIS lasts about 5 seconds on a sound Loco, which TBH is plenty enough for the crappiest track cleaner.
  13. I wouldn’t bother with the super cap stuff unless you want it to run for half an hour off the track, the smallest LAIS stay alive is cheap and works brilliantly, it’s the only stay alive I use now.
  14. Derek, I know it’s not the perfect solution but I bought (a few years ago now) at a show a secondhand Hornby 08 with sound, marked as TTS on the box……I paid well under £100 but after a couple of years sitting on the shelf (the 08…not me!) I opened it up to fit stay alive only to discover the early Hornby 08 were fitted with Loksound V4 decoders, probably locked so you cannot reblow them, but it is in fact a very good sound model far better than a couple of other TTS models I have with true Hornby decoders. Possibly look for one of the early sound 08 from somewhere?
  15. Barr’s Leaks……that was the original one.
  16. It happened to us on the way back from Worcs on Tuesday, as I mentioned before we decided to stick to 60 mph cruise in the first lane and relax, and it was but there was just one tw@t in a Vauxhall Astra Turbo (some sort of three door/coupe looking hatchback) full of passengers, we approached it as it must have been doing 55 mph and we popped out, over took and popped back in again……a few minutes later here he comes, overtakes us and pulls in not too far in front and then proceeds to slow down again to his 55 mph cruise……..three times this happens over quite a few miles until he pulled off the M5…….I assume drivers like that just aren’t paying attention and are just engaged with their passengers rather than the other drivers……who could kill them!
  17. The Tupolev is the only one in the list I don’t envy you with
  18. I was at Biggin Hill show the last time a Lightening was allowed to pop the barrier at a public show, way back in the 60’s……pretty sure it was the year the Beagle Pup was shown and launched. Still remember the little dot in the sky getting bigger and bigger and then nothing, no noise as it came past, then…..fook’me it went BANG! And that crackle from the afterburners……
  19. Built for one job…….and after there was nothing left
  20. Slight difference between a capacitor which could easily be placed elsewhere to hide it and a bloomin’ great big motor block with no where else to go, but nowadays even a motor block should really be “old school” and low slung motors under the seating is easily possible, Kato did it almost 20 years ago in 2mm with their DMU/EMU trains. Some manufacturers are slowly coming around to the idea that customers might actually care, not all though.
  21. You don’t mind if I call them firebox doors do you?
  22. TBH that’s got to rank as the most useless feature we don’t need………. We are so used to lights on diesels, instead of opening firebox door how about putting that energy into pluggable lit lamps for kettles, or even fixed lit lamps?
