  1. The problems with FUD seems to be related to the support material, which is probably what has caused the problem with the cubed ones vs. the others. They should be fine on a linear sprue. The 7mm Roe-Vacs should have been OK though.
  2. Tags - the etch artwork equivalent of ballasting...

  3. Somewhere around here: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=silverton&hl=en&ll=50.805172,-3.450249&spn=0.001973,0.006196&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=7.728394,25.378418&hnear=Silverton,+Devon,+United+Kingdom&t=h&z=18
  4. Don't let that stop you, it's going to be some considerable time before that sees the light of day at this rate!
  5. Thanks for posting the photos of the painted samples Brian, the van looks really good. On the open, though, it looks to me like something isn't quite right with the area below the doors (is it a rave? I'm not sure), it looks to be too deep when comparing with this picture from Paul Bartlett's site: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/broaa/h33b6a851#h33b6a851 The other thing that makes me think there's a minor discrepancy in this area are the brackets below the hinges - they look a little too square on the model compare to the photo. It's only minor though, overall it looks pretty good.

  7. Even when the majority haven't, some will always have. Same as it ever was.
  8. Thanks - I have, although it's still had to judge the unpainted model, I don't think the doors project far enough. Brian, is there any chance you could take and post a side-on picture of the open, please?
  9. The van looks good. It might just be the angle of the photo of the open, but it looks like the doors and the solebar are flush, where they should be slightly proud. It's hard to tell on an undecorated sample.
  10. I can confirm that they're not robot cranes - each one has someone driving it!
  11. As Ruston mentions, it's a Thornaby (Middlesbrough) Kingfisher.
  12. It can definitely be the other way round as well - the number of times that I've taken photos of a finished model, only to see in the pictures where I'd missed bits! I think you're right about the eyes and mind blending things all together - it seems to work that way.
  13. I often find I have the same problem when photographing weathered models, the eye picks up things that the camera doesn't see. If you then see the photos in print, it's even worse! The walls look good to me b)
  14. It is indeed. The UK needs more of this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/alcophile/7918713998/
  15. They were still there a couple of years ago, so presumably still there now.
  16. I love those trap points, protecting the main from anything that might run away up that incline
  17. I think that's the most sensible thing I've ever heard you say (write?)

That's good to know, I won't panic just yet!

That's interesting, I'll have to check mine as I've paid for them but haven't heard anything yet.
  20. Top stuff Mark, I can't believe that I've only just discovered this lovely little layout.
  21. Ah well, at least you didn't waste your first post. Oh. Clearly not at the moment. Be patient, I'm sure some more quality modelling will be along here soon.
  22. Looking good! It looks like a working loco, but not overdone. Gave me a chance to try out the new buttons as well!
