  1. I'm not an expert, but 50038 was refurbished in November 1980 and 50022 was refurbished in December 1980, so best guess for both of those photos is the spring of 1981.
  2. I don't know, but it's definitely a GFYE Met Camm DMU!
  3. Possibly, but I would have thought that Methanol would have been available from the refinery next door - IIRC it's made as a part of some refining processes. I can't think of anywhere else that would have had it in trainload quantities though.
  4. I don't think Bieber can grow a beard, I guess that just makes him a ....
  5. Another vote for redoing the chassis from me, I'm afraid. Although a pain, it's definitely the easiest option.
  6. I'll be honest and say that I didn't read the video description at all, so was just going with my ears! Cool! That will be just the thing for my Judith Edge one, when I get round to building it, hopefully later this year.
  7. Out of interest, if you don't mind telling me, which loco was the sound recorded from, please? It might just be me, but the engine doesn't sound as refined as I remember them. This video (from 09:27 onwards) captures the sound that I remember quite well: Edit - Are the gearbox direction change noises a part of the project?
  8. Feels like doing some modelling for the first time in months!

  9. Heh, I think most of us have reached that point at some stage, I know I have in the past.
  10. You're nuts! It's looking great, there's some serious attention to detail there.
  11. See if you can get a cheap Bachmann 66 body and graft the radiator section into the Lima body. It's hard work, but makes a massive difference to the appearance. It also means that you can reuse the Bachmann grille.
  12. Thanks for pointing that out Ian, all I need to do now is to find out where to send the invoice
  13. Currently reliving my yoof with some banging dance tracks from 1993: https://soundcloud.com/everybodywantstobethedj/david-holmes-essential-mix
  14. And that is the most important thing 8) Look forward to seeing what you get up to Phil! Edit - whatever happened to Bodge City?

Will you be painting the wheels before handing it over?
  16. There's some good stuff about creating harbour water here, and for a few posts afterwards: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=60640#p60640 I've seen it in the flesh and it is very effective.
  17. I don't think it looks overdone, I've seen canals that choppy on a windy day, or if a boat has gone through a little fast recently.
  18. It closed much later than that, it was certainly still going in the late '90's. Wikipedia (I know) has the date down as 2003 when it finally closed.
  19. Not much more than you, other than the weight diagram and Paul's photos, there doesn't seem to be much about these wagons out there. I have got something that will be of some use to you, though, there's a pm on the way shortly.
  20. Good luck with it Stu, hope it goes well for you!
