    All looks great.

I’ll be interested to see if the mainline 37 comes out a bit more shiny than the rather drab Bachmann version. Those colours were bold  and bright when new

The Bachmann 055 model is quite flat in terms of the blue. From the photo Jerry has posted above, this better matches photos I've seen of the livery on Flickr.

    Loving these projects Jerry.

Not similar in the reasons but given I am interested in present day (or from Jan 2020 onwards) the 37s are far more interesting because:

    1. They get used for more things (test trains, moving nuclear wagons, railtours, moving MUs), I think the 47 only does 2 of those at present
    2. There are far more relevant models of 37s, it is worth noting that I can think of 8 Bachmann 37 releases that would be relevant up until Colas's logo changing, which means other than that subtlety are relevant now (9 to last year when 521 was repainted). Then there are loads of AS releases that are as current. I don't think many (any?) Bachmann 47 releases are relevant to the present day (I'd be interested to know which are, the new 828 isn't close enough for me), and only 1 of the Heljan/Gaugemaster releases is.

So the 37 is kinda more popular for me by default given the models are there for me to buy.

It's obvious but it depends what era you model as to what loco classes are more popular etc. One example out of many is the 47's on Virgin XC runs back in the early 2000's - lots of different locos used and arguably perhaps they were more popular back then the 37's.

At the end of the day it's whatever interests you...

I think it's very unlikely given that Hattons have intimated another run in an article in Hornby Magazine - with the design/QC issues noted and hopefully sorted on the next batch.

Personally, I think the Hattons 66 is a great model (axlebox/QC considered) and would be difficult to improve upon.

Going further O/T - one loco that never seems to get a "we want a retooled version" is the Hornby 60. Still up there with the best of today's new releases apart from Hornby persisting with the 8-pin plug.

What issue was this in? Did they specify when the next production run would take place?

I thought that stale joke had long outlived it’s usefulness, ………as of nearly 2 years, since Bachmann changed its release strategy’?

I think November is probably achievable, looking forward to these.

Indeed, S/H values for modern China-made superdetail hold up very well. This is why I don't really have any time for anyone complaining about the price of the new Bachmann ones, because if you want a model of a Class 47, you really now have the ultimate choice with prices ranging from around £25 to £300+ taking you through old Hornby/Lima S/H, Hornby Railroad/Vitrains, original Heljan 47, numerous iterations of the Bachmann 47 right through to this new model. Attached is an image of a superdetailed 'old' Hornby model that's come my way through a job lot just so you can see what's still possible sub-£40.

Plenty of options available now, even some  of the old Lima stuff has some relevance if you re-motor it or stick it under a Vi-Trains or Hornby Railroad chassis with some further detailing work.

I don't mind the Heljan model myself, although I understand its inaccuracies.

This latest model from Bachmann is a winner though and I will be pre ordering a sound fitted version of 375 for sure.

  6. Out of curiosity I've been looking on a well known auction site at some of the current 47's available and most are upwards of £120, some are near the £150 mark. When you factor in a DCC sound install, even if you do this yourself it makes the new models with sound quite good value. I'm referring to the non sound deluxe here, just sound fitted.

I don't have any Bachmann 47's so I'll have to substitute with 37's - but the ploughs look passable when the support structure is painted black

Whilst I'm not being critical for the sake of it, they would look better with the 2 supports that allow the ploughs to be attached to the bufferbeam. I've often made them out of wire.

  8. I know it's not the answer most people want to hear but there are plenty of after market ploughs from the likes of PH Designs or even old Heljan 47 sets which can be used. I would never use the supplied ploughs, there just not realistic.

Financially, it's potentially disastrous, and it's only really satisfying if you don't know/care what items do form coherent combinations.

The sheer mount of new releases means that it's probably wise to stick to one era or time period to starve off temptation. I know for myself that I don't need or want 100 locos on my layout as I only tend to have one loco out at one time.

You mean GBRFs recent euro imports ?

    absolutely.

I wouldnt be surprised over time if most of the Euro sheds make their way to the UK to end their careers, either in service or as spares.

Yeah so examples like 751 I've shared in a photo of in this thread above and others - it will be interesting to see whether these are done.

I think it would be logical for Hattons to do another run of the 66's, plenty more liveries to do and the fact that there isn't many about now available online must show they that were popular despite the obvious issues.
