    Hi Chris,

Factory reports that we're still on schedule so should be seeing production samples in the next couple of weeks for batch one and then delivery on the back of that. Like always, once we have an update we will post it here.

    Cheers!

    Fran

Thanks Fran. Looking forward to them arriving.

With the current ban on steam in the south the Kent & East sussex Railway managed to hire in t very short notice "Crompton" 33 202 from the North Norfolk Railway. The initial enquiries were made early last week, the deal was arranged and the loco delivered to Wittersham Road on Thursday! 33202 will be used on the A set for a while and the DMMU will cover the B set.

This also made for a unique photo opportunity with the KESR class 17 and the 33 double heading.

Didn't think the North Norfolk Railway had a 33? Is it not the Mid Norfolk Railway?

  3. I've spent a few hours this afternoon working on the layout. From September my modelling time is probably going to be nil due to work circumstances, however this has enabled me to set a bit of a deadline to get the layout progressed a lot more by this point. For reference I usually get distracted with loco or rolling stock projects.

Woodland Scenics blended turf is the base layer and then 2mm and 4mm static grass comprising of spring, summer and autumn blends all mixed together and then a straw texture to finish. I'm by no means an expert with this so don't know whether it looks any good 🤔

I'm not happy with the Ratio crane so this will be swapped out for one from Goodwood Scenics at some point. The benches are being painted into an NSE style red and will be placed on the platform. Lights to go in and some station signage. Lot's to do..

With the level of attention to detail currently being paid to models, will the specific combination be correct for another loco? By the time it got into Large Logo it will have had changes so it can't just renumbered without quite a bit of research, which the customer wouldn't have needed to do if Bachmann had been more thoughtful...

    Luke

Of course this needs to be taken into account. Up to the individual to do their research if they want to model a particular loco or be prepared to modify as appropriate. All part of the fun in my opinion.

Cheers. I’ve been pointed at this elsewhere so will take a look. There’s always the excellent PH Designs etched ones but I’m not sure we should be having to resort to workarounds at the price these are.

I'll just be modifying some Heljan 47 ploughs with some brass rod for the supports.

Think it was a mistake for them to do Loch Lomond in Large Logo. I've already ordered this from Accurascale, so wont be buying the Bachman one to duplicate it.

Now if it had been a different Scottish 37 in Large Logo, eg Oor Wullie, then I'd have snapped it up.

The market can cope with 2 high-spec Class 37 models, but not 2 high-spec models of Loch Lomond!

I understand its not within the reach of every modeller, however it could just be renumbered and renamed to another one? However I fully appreciate a different running number would of been welcome.

401 is also only technically suitable for not long over a year (latter half of 88- early 90?).

The numbers moved up to be in white on the cabside, which is visually a nicer version of the mainline livery I think.

It received black headcode panels sometime between 92/93 along with the number change you have mentioned.

  8. Perhaps the issue with the ploughs are a general annoyance, however I can see that Bachmann have probably gone doen the road of keeping it within the NEM pocket as most people will be running the model on trainset curves and need the required clearance etc.

It wouldn't be difficult to modify the ploughs with a couple of sections of brass rod to imitate the brackets and attach it to the bufferbeam but I do appreciate this shouldn't have to be done on a model at this price. The Heljan 33/26/27 ploughs attach just behind the bufferbeam which work well.

  9. Difficult decisions Rich. I landed myself into the world of EM after purchasing Motts Lane from Will and must say I'm pleased I did, as it has pushed my standards further.

I've had a look at the Finetrax kits myself and will be using them on any future projects, the range can only get bigger over time.

Enjoying the layout updates and stock modifications, gives me the impetus to get M L completed.

the 37 uses the same accurathrash speaker and the relevant LokSound chip (as well an em and p4 wheels and suitable crews) will be on offer before the models start coming into stock in the next month or so.

Models coming into stock within the next month? I thought the first batch was due in October? Any sooner wojld obviously be positive! :)

  11. 56036 is now ready to enter service on the layout, probably on an engineers train of somesort.

This has been an enjoyable project, loco was in base dutch livery, renumbered and sector markings added by Railtec, driver and fitter in the leading cab and then weathered plus bufferbeam detailing. Smiths 3 links have also been added.

Just needs EM wheels and a decoder before heading across to Motts Lane. 20220719_125239.jpg.3ab2ebb20bcd69ace0a4f262fb07f566.jpg20220719_125233.jpg.6d4da5bbd1a444f290a1df336e1ba1aa.jpg20220719_125252.jpg.ffc57adcbc51ac2417578f28edee8e0e.jpg20220719_125245.jpg.2463a7963d084f5fe328226f430f629b.jpg

  12. The project to complete 56036 is now on the home straight.

I've finished off adding all the transfers, placed a driver and fitter in the cab and started the wash to get dirt in all the recesses before ending with some light airbrush work.

It'll need replacement wheels from EMGS and then should be ready for an engineers train on the layout.

The Cavalex 56 looks very promising and I've certainly got a few on order, however these Hornby 56 still deserve some detailing and weathering as you can never have to many 56's..
