Superb as ever Tom!
Whilst you jest about the pigeon - there are some available: http://www.shapeways.com/model/499052/n-scale-1-160-pigeons-set-of-121.html?modelId=499052&materialId=61. I have a sheet (if that's the right word) if you need fancy a couple.

YES!

Lovely stuff Jeremy.
One little thing - paint those wheels a nice shade of grime! They look a bit weird silver.

Hi Kevin,
Excellent - looking forward to adding the Home Counties volume to my library.
Is there are possibility of a South Wales volume? Seemingly the forgotten limb of the WR, especially in pre-TOPS days!
Cheers,

Looks like it's already been done, and superbly well! Wonder if there are drawings out there....
...no, I must finish everything else first!

I think the similarities stop at the wheelbase length sadly - brake gear, W irons, solebars and wheel sizes are all different. To be honest, from what I remember the Chivers chassis wasn't bad - certainly one of the finer plastic ones out there. Perhaps it's worth giving these a go with just some replacement brake shoes and a simple etched inner frame to be it all square?
Ps - if you fancy a challenge, there was also 10 plastic bodied PMVs. I dont think they lasted into your era, but there was at least one clinging onto life in 1971. Odd looking things!

Place them together, sprinkle some pixie dust, leave overnight and they increase to 8 vans...
500g bags of dust are available - please PM. Maybe second hand and collected from all the unfinished projects on my work bench. ;-)
Good to see some more of your work Pete, your mojo is certainly in full flow at the moment! Who does the etched chassis for the CCT? I had this on my to-do list!

My word Jon - first time I've ever seen someone do the eyebrows in any scale, let alone 4mm. Top stuff.
Now... how about doing one with the tail light hinges at the different positions?!

Shiney!
I'm interested in that gearbox you've done there Julia - what gears and motor does it use? I'm guessing there some of the smaller module gears from Mikro Antribe? Reminds me, if you've still got the link to the meshing centres calculations that we talked about en route to Peterborough I'd really appreciate it.
See you tomorrow!

Kettles. GWR kettles. GWR P4 kettles?!
There is going to be some good old fashioned mocking at Stormex.

Wow - the future has arrived! B)
Top stuff Julia, looks like you've got a good helper in Mark too.

Very cool photos Chris - it's a shame I didn't get to stop and chat to you properly at the show!
The desolate effect on Witney Euston is very effective... jsut need to convince Mark that it needs some nice parafin cans on a more regular basis.

Excellent - looking forward to August!
If you come across those drawings drop me a PM, they spark some inspiration!

All I can suggest is putting it on some descent track - has Pixie not persuaded you to come over to the dark side yet
Five pints and some gentle persuassion at the next available oppourtunity should do the trick... or Malibu, seem to remember you've got a good stash of that.
Top work Jo, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh! Let me know how you get on with the 08 rods and if you need anymore or the tubing to pack out the crankpin holes for that matter.

PS - Have you still got a copy of those Yeoman wagon drawings that used to be on your Fotopic?

Afternoon Pugs... looks superb as ever! You've achieved a loverly, subtle effect that I've not seen before in a model.B)
Good to hear the JSV is going well - I passed a little through my airbrush last night and I'm also very happy with the results. The guys in the R&D lab have hinted that the varnish is a reformulation which could be coming to market soon. Once it's got a trade name I'll let y'all know! Have you ever experimented with inks at all? I was looking at some eariler and I think they might have some uses.

I haven't had a chance to try out the 'Jo's Sister' varnish yet - did you ever find out if it was spirit based, or acrylic?
I'm fairly certain that JSV is spirit based from what the guys in R&D told me, might be worth trialling a little bit before commiting the whole lot though just in case. I have got a little bottle of thinning agent from them so if you need some let me know and I'll pop it in the post.
I managed to get a set of oil paints last night, I'll let you know how I get on!

I take it you'll be tapping Pixie up for discount
Not on goods from the 'enemy'.
Excellent work Martin, I really will have to give these a go at somepoint. Like Bryn says, they've got real potential in 2mm for subtle effects. Have you had a chance to try out the 'Jo's Sister' varnish yet?

Very impressive EP... what thou is the etching?
Pix

Blimey Rich - There's not a lot to tell that's 2mm from first view! Really impressive stuff.
Where do you get your 3-links from? They look very nice!

Are you sure the 38:1 and 14/28 tooth gears would work Don? Drawing it up in CAD I think that 38 tooth helical gear would foul the m*ff carrying the 14 tooth gear.

Just one tiny observation. Cattle van's tended to have a lime wash (or at least they did in GWR days) as apparent by the white staining on their lower section.
Top stuff Julia!

Photographing everyday stuff is the sort of thing that we need more of I think, there's plenty of photos of wierd and wonderful workings but not enough porridge about. I'm guilty of it too though - the only photo I took while I was at university in Cardiff was of a 153 going up to the Valleys as it was the only time I'd seen one in the three years I was there. I kind of regret not taking any other photos of the other units that did the route everyday.
A group of four of us are heading to the Faszination Modellbau, which will no doubt result in me spending lots of money that I don't have of very nice German models! We're going to make a long weekend of it, basing ourselves in Karlsruhe and probably go and have a look at the museums at Speyer and Sinsheim... the TU-144 there is calling to me already! I do love visiting Germany and it's rapidly becoming an annual event, this year we came over for the Dampfspektakel (sitting in the TEE set with a 103 up front and sipping Dunkel was a real highlight!) and the year before we went out to Berlin to see Muse on my 21st birthday. Happy days!
Thanks for the offer of help, I'll no doubt be calling on it at somepoint! The only thing that's causing some headaches at the moment is that although the Karlsruhe Ibis hotel lists twin rooms on their website but they don't seem to be available to book... ho hum!
Frohe Weihnachten,

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about Germany and it's railways that really sings to me. Cracking photos as ever Dominik, I'm quite envious of you being in every day contact with this kind of thing!
Pix - Who has just booked his next trip to Germany!

A little reminder to our Cardiff BEng days!
Top stuff.
