  1. Quick cuppa then off down to the centre for day 1 of the show πŸ˜πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚
  2. @tractionof this parish will have his tt:120 set with him at the Mansfield Show this weekend for all to have a go on. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh πŸ˜πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚πŸš‚
  3. I’ll get the prototypes at this weekend’s Mansfield Show. Pics will be posted as soon as I can. I’ve not got a 2020’s power car to fit to, but do have the black supports 😁 I do have 2 versions to fit the 2020’s Pan to the 80’s power car too
  4. Same chap who came with Howard to film Fourgig East?
  5. The MERG DCO has been very well designed to cope with most controllers/boosters, would recommend it to anyone. Just as an aside, my article in the Spring 2023 BRM might be useful to the OP
  6. When I was at College in Coventry back in the 80's the footbridge over the railway near the station was called "Anarchy Bridge" due to it's covering in graffiti. It's now been replaced with a more open glass and metal structure more in keeping with the swanky shopping centre that the bridge now passes over. Walked over it every day to college and some of it was very amusing, some just plain rubbish tagging. Most got overpainted as more was added etc but one or two seemed to be allowed to stay. "Marie smells of Brie" springs to mind, but one of the best was a really good representation of the Weetabix man (remember them?) One morning there was a note proclaiming "The Return of the Pink Panther" followed by lots of pink panther footprints along the walkway. These moved up onto the top of the bridge sides and then off and over the roof of the adjoining building on the city side of the bridge. Vandalism, yes, amusing and creative absolutely. And I remember those bits of artwork 40 years later ........
  7. So, I've been busy after being dragged kicking and screaming (not really, I've been wanting to make the leap for ages πŸ˜‰) into the world of 3D Design by Matt Jarvis of GMRC fame. I'm picking up samples of my first prints at this weekend's Mansfield Show of six different APT-P pan bases, most of which are for the 80's version. First off (top right) is a copy of the Hornby base so that the cheaper class 86 pan can be fitted (if you can find one on eBay) or replace your broken plastic base - my childhood pan has a cracked boss underneath where it pushes onto the motor mount. Next I have two versions of a base to allow this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203786926505 to fit to the 80's power car. one styled on the 80's base (top left) and another on the 2020's base (bottom left) Then I have two versions of a base that allows the 2020's pans to fit to the 80's power car (either should fit, the Faiveley or the Brecknell Willis derivative), one with 80's style insulators (just plain truncated cones, bottom centre) and another with more realistic insulators like the 2020's version (top centre) here's a pic of the prototypes Keen eyes will spot the sixth, which is not like the others - it's a base that allows the cheap Chinese pan to fit to the 2020's power car. I know it's HO (but in reality not that much smaller than the Hornby version) and not a true representation of a Faiveley pan. It is however MUCH more robust, my base would break before the pan did. Anyway, I'm quite excited to get the samples at the weekend and seeing how well they fit etc. I'll post pics once I have them sorted.
  8. OK, I'll digress now, this is great news 😁 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-64812491 Lets hope that the speech continues to improve over the next few months
  9. Or Hayden Lane, if you're from Hucknall πŸ˜‰
  10. All very laudable, but can we talk about this weekend's race?
  11. Is the bridge still there, if shrouded in trees?
  12. Steve G has had to withdraw Duncan's Mine from this year's show. Look forward to welcoming him again in 2024 😁
  13. Just a heads up, I'm picking up my first samples of a few pan adaptors for APT-P's. Mostly they are for the 80's version, but I have also produced one that allows a cheapie ebay pan from China to be fitted to the current version of the APT. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203786926505 Whilst not very accurate to a Faively pan, they are very robust. here's a pic of the first off mount - I've tried to copy the Hornby lower frame and should fit onto the black supports as the stock one does. I'll post pics up once I have one fitted to a pan next week.
  14. BR Standards 80XXX, 84XXX (preferably the new build/conversion one)
  15. It's a fairly common gotcha, Decoder pro set a four digit address 0068 which some controllers will recognize as 68 and others, like the Powercab/Pro don't. When you set an address on the Powercab it specifically asks if you want to activate the two digit (or four depending on which screen you are on) They are effectively different addresses. Best to set the address on the controller that will be used to operate the loco, or use a four digit one πŸ˜‰ When I am fitting decoders I generally leave them at the factory "03" unless specifically requested by the owner.
  16. Watched it last night, was left with quite a strong desire to buy a 9F ..... I resisted though, as my car and Scottish Power are eating up all my spare at the moment (and more)
  17. I noticed that too, it was met with the REOSWMBO when I pointed it out ...... Rolling Eyes of She Who Must Be Obeyed
  18. or edit the offending item out or even reverse that tender totem ........
