  1. Morning all... No sunshine at this time, but not freezing either. Not sure what we'll be doing today, aside from my certainly continuing to revise. Have a good one, folks...
  2. Well, as it remained sunny throughout the day, we ended up going to the zoo after I finished my round of revising for today. There was offspring in several enclosures, such as these two kids in the goats section, which I understood were just three days old: I was quite amazed that they weren't much larger than our rabbits! They were just so adorable... Meanwhile, this fellow was fairly unimpressed by his visitors:
  3. Actually, I've long been wondering where horse owners can obtain food for their steeds. Not at your average pet shop, surely?
  4. Another piece of news from the Easter weekend says a 25-year old motorist was caught going at 175 kph in a 70 kph zone on Good Friday. He is now facing a heavy fine as well as three months off the driver's seat.
  5. Morning all... Quite sunny and not as chilly as it has been on some previous days, but the forecast is making only very cautious predictions about rising temperatures by the middle of the month. I'll believe that only when they really do materialise in any case! Didn't sleep that well last night, so some coffee will be required ASAP. Enjoy your day!
  6. Wasn't it deep-frying, actually?
  7. Thanks, folks! I do feel better this morning. The headache isn't actually that bad during my migraines, and in the majority of cases is even absent entirely. However, it's the other symptoms that get to me badly – especially an excessive sensitivity to pretty much all sensory stimuli, as I'd call it.
  8. Morning troops... Still no sign of spring that I can see. Been feeling unwell for most of yesterday which on my way to our dinner invitation turned into a migraine, so I called it off and turned around in order to catch some rest. Oh well... Enjoy your day, everyone...
  9. Easter lunch for the rabbits:
  10. I wish we had your temperatures up here, Don! Morning all, and happy Easter! We're invited for dinner tonight. Nothing of notice aside from that, though.
  11. I'm currently planning to carry out a couple of new loco modding projects – one of which I just highlighted on my RMweb blog here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/599/entry-11377-double-einheits-elektroloks-announcing-a-modding-project-involving-two-class-140-locos/ . I certainly do hope it'll turn out as well as I imagine it to do!
  12. I'm sorry to hear that, Gordon - that'd be very tough on me, too...
  13. Morning all... Looking dull outside once again and it's much too cold for this time of year still. Food shopping will be on my agenda today as the shops will again be closed on Monday. Enjoy your day, everyone...
  14. I wish we had your kind of weather, Debs! Instead, there've been several snow flurries for the past three or four hours...
  15. And later this morning, I went on a trip further to the northeast to finally capture one of these: Taken just near Assenheim Station in the town of Niddatal, this image shows 442 287, one of the long-overdue Talent 2 type EMUs which thankfully have begun being delivered to the Frankfurt depot in recent weeks. These units are working the Gießen-Friedberg-Hanau line – designated RB 33 – for starters, and will also fully take over the joint Frankfurt-Dillenburg/Treysa line – which at the current delivery rate is planned for this summer. Here, 442 287 is working the RB 15071 service to Hanau.
  16. Light rail systems are indeed usually treated as trams in this country, and, in fact, the line to Oberursel was built as a tram line originally. There used to be a reversing loop at Hohemark for the single-cab cars of that era, which was eventually removed after what is now the U3 line was upgraded to full light rail standard. Behind where I was standing, there also is a railway line, primarily worked by suburban services, plus stopping services between Frankfurt and a town called Brandoberndorf during weekday peak hours. Off peak and on weekends and holidays, the latter work only the section from Bad Homburg to Brandoberndorf. There also are short turns terminating at Grävenwiesbach rather than Brandoberndorf.
  17. Morning all... Sun was struggling to burn through earlier, but seems to have lost for the moment. After getting SWMBO to the station at Oberursel for her trip to work, I proceeded to take these images... Two stops from the Hohemark terminus of the U3 line, U5 type LRV 627 is bound for Frankfurt on the "5" turn, and approaching the Rosengärtchen stop. And down at Oberursel Station, it looked like this little fellow joined me in my early-morning spotting session: Then, this set turned up: Most recently, VGF have taken delivery of numerous U5-50 type LRVs, which are set up as back-to-back single cab units with a gangway replacing the second cab, and the units being intended to work as permanent pairs. Here, the pair of 807 (in the rear) and 808 is heading up to Hohemark.
  18. We did have a bit of sunshine around noon, but it surrendered to the Cloud Army after a short while and a recent weather service bulletin mentioned a chance of snow. I'm sure this weather change will have to do with my feeling wrung out at the moment, so I'll see to going to bed early tonight. Food shopping for tomorrow's holiday has been done, too.
  19. Morning all... I'll be off in a few to get the car to the garage for servicing, then to the library, and after that – I don't know. Do enjoy your day, everyone!
  20. ...and a belated "morning all" from me as my post from silly o'clock seems to have dissipated into bits and bytes as well. Turning out to be fairly sunny out here, but I still am doubtful that we'll indeed be seeing spring very soon. Last exam will be on 22 April, as I was informed yesterday. This should give me more than enough time for preparation.
  21. Morning all... Chilly outside, though I'll have to brave the cold within the hour as I'll have to run a few errands. Aside from that, nothing much to report at this time of day.
  22. Wouldn't you think that their motto will be, "Keep Calm and Carrion"?
  23. Morning all... High clouds, cool and breezy outside. Nothing else to report as of yet, though I'm sure there'll be some errands to run. Enjoy your day!
  24. That is rather a pheasantry to look at, DD. Morning all – cool and windy outside, but expected to turn warmer as the Easter weekend approaches. In fact, the weather service cautiously predicts that spring may be arriving after all. That being said, I do feel like both me and SWMBO will need some more time for rest, following what has been a rather difficult week for all of us. She won't have to return to work till Wednesday and as schools are closed for the Easter break, I, too, will have some more time for me. I do have to read up on a few things for my last exam, though.
