Alternatively leave the detail off the buffer beam and provide etched overlays with and without a cut out for the tension lock. Looks great though!

Does the existence of Not Captain Kernow imply that there is also a NCTMK?

Sorry, I missed this post. The Ruston will be on sale from March 13th at Light Railway Stores. -
The National Garden Railway show is currently going ahead on 26th June with various limitations. This is in a big venue so there's ample opportunity to spread out. https://www.nationalgardenrailwayshow.org.uk/2021-show/

Planet Industrials - the story so far...

We're honoured that Planet Industrials has been nominated for the "innovation" category in the British Railway Modelling Awards 2020, for the range of multi-media kits. Although not the first kits to be comprised of multiple materials to suit the parts being represented, our belief is that the combination of a 3D printed core with etched and cast detailing strikes the perfect balance between ease of construction and fidelity of detail. This ethos grew from what we started with Narrow Planet and we're proud to see it recognised. Voting is open until 3rd March, if you feel so inclined! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScD0Vhi4x_IhbH6RBVWWs-euU31SLgOPyP9goq3oWZ5jIL6bA/viewform?fbzx=-1117740900478992753 -
Light Railway Stores is on the move! We're filling our box cars and shifting everything to new, larger premises as our business grows. While our online marketplace will remain open, we will be pausing order dispatch until the week commencing 8th March.

Pevensey Castle is close to the railway but it's a year since I've been on a train so I can't remember if it's visible from either station.

Fascinating to hear how close it came to saving one! And of course great justification for anyone with a preservation-era layout to place an order -

Thanks for your interest. The DCC options are priced based on hardware cost from our supplier and process time. Due to the projected uptake of these options it's more efficient for us to fit in the UK rather than order multiple configurations from the factory. The body is designed to be removed from the chassis with two screws so as johnd and James say, if you're comfortable fitting next18 chips yourself you shouldn't have any problems. -

James and I have discussed a few ideas for a joint, possibly modular industrial layout. Unfortunately the length of the bridging section between Sussex and Denbighshire would be impractical even in non-Covid times! -

We like to give our email subscribers a head start on these updates as thank you for signing up, so join the mailing list at https://planetindustrials.co.uk/ to get the news first! But yes, we're pleased to be able to show these test shot parts from the factory in China. We hope you'll agree that the chunky presence of the Victory class is already apparent in these photos. Next step will be the full engineering prototype, work will continue on this after the Chinese New Year holiday. You can see the die-cast boiler and smokebox, which in addition to the metal chassis block and footplate should put a very useful amount of weight into this industrial loco. As a reminder, our pre-order scheme will be running until we’ve signed off the decorated samples and placed the production order. There are three options available: 1) Pre-order and pay in full for the best price, £115 with free UK delivery for a DC loco, £160 for DCC and £215 for DCC sound 2) Pre-order and pay a £30 deposit, you'll pay the balance of the discounted price plus shipping when the models arrive. 3) Reserve with no deposit and pay the full price plus shipping once the models arrive. All the livery variants can be pre-ordered at Light Railway Stores using this direct link: https://www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk/collections/victory-variants More to come soon! -

Stevenage as well for me, as a trader. It was actually quite nice to take the rest of the year "off" in some respects although I'm itching to get back to it now. -
I always liked the look of these but wasn't sure what I needed it for. However with the opportunity to still pay a pre order price and now with the need for stock for a Victory to haul, I've ordered!

We can't be certain that it's a precise match but we're also not selling the loco as EKR 4. Our feeling is that it's a reasonably close mid green that also will be suitable for freelance applications. -
It's back! The Narrow Planet Custom Nameplate Studio is online again, with a bit of an upgrade... (click on the above for a video) This has been on the to-do list for longer than I care to admit, but there is now a live preview of your nameplates (on most styles) complete with estimated dimensions as you enter text. Over time we'll add this to number plates and works plates as well so you can be confident you're getting what you expected before you order. For a limited time you can get 30% off all custom etched items with the code WEWANTPLATES at checkout. I should also note that, while our etching supplier is currently operating, lead times are still expected to be a bit longer due to their social distancing measures and of course there is still a risk that production may have to be paused again. Hopefully with the new live preview and other automation methods we're working on, the time orders spend in the production queue before they're etched can be reduced - more on this soon! https://www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk/collections/custom-etched-products

It should also be possible to manually create an order for the customer in the store admin and apply a custom postage cost (if you wished to do so), although if you're using an add-on for pre orders it may also conflict with this. I've been a satisfied user of the Shopify platform for 5+ years so drop me a line if you could do with any additional help. The most annoying thing about having multiple Shopify orders you want to ship together is that there doesn't seem to be a way to reconcile them to a single fulfilment in Royal Mail click and drop so there's always a bit of extra admin needed there.

Shopify orders can be edited by the merchant within 60 days of creation. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/edit-orders

We've had a strong start to the pre-order campaign, thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. The black and maroon liveries were virtually neck and neck over the first few days, although maroon has now edged in to the lead and the others are catching up. Interestingly (or perhaps not!), maroon livery customers have been more likely to pay fully in advance. We are still trying to determine the psychological basis for this. If you ordered a sound-fitted model you were more likely to have chosen the grey IW&D livery. If you're on the look out for a potentially RARE (eBay) model in the future, I would at this stage recommend a DCC (non-sound) fitted grey loco as this particular combination has been the least ordered so far. Pre-orders remain open at https://www.planetindustrials.co.uk/ Happy Friday!
