  1. Hi John, We'll need to add on international postage for both deposit and full advance payment orders, I can work out a quote if you want to drop me a PM or email info@lightrailwaystores.co.uk. We can of course combine postage costs for better value if you order more than one....
  2. Happy new year, Planet Industrials fans! Pre-orders for the Kerr, Stuart Victory are now open! As a reminder, you can secure a discounted price with a £30 deposit (or pay in full) or reserve a model for free and pay the full price on delivery. Links are below to each livery version on the new-look Light Railway Stores online marketplace: Pre-order in black at Light Railway Stores Pre-order in lined grey at Light Railway Stores Pre-order in lined green at Light Railway Stores Pre-order in lined maroon at Light Railway Stores
  3. We'll be reintroducing this service early in the new year. https://www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk/pages/faqs
  4. It's done! The new look is live at https://www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk/, do take a look if you have a moment. All feedback greatly appreciated!
  5. The kit will include HORNET and GREENHITHE nameplates, plus works plates and Railway Executive registration plates.
  6. Thank you to the more than 400 people who completed our Victory livery survey (and a special shout to the 0.2% of responders who said they wouldn't buy one but still chose liveries!). We've drawn a prize winner from among the entries, so congratulations to James Morley - look out for a gift card in your email! Now, on to what you're waiting for! The liveries that will be available to order are: We'll be opening pre-orders from the 1st January 2021 through the new Light Railway Stores online marketplace. The full prices are expected to be as follows: DC / DCC ready £130 DCC fitted £175 DCC sound fitted £230 To pre-order you'll have three choices: Pre-order and pay in full for the best price - £115 with free UK delivery for a DC loco, £160 for DCC and £215 for DCC sound Pre-order and pay a £30 deposit, you'll pay the remainder of the discounted price plus shipping when the models arrive (so £30, then for a DC model £85 plus shipping). Pre-order with no deposit and pay the full price plus shipping once the models arrive. Please be aware that the full price may be subject to change if there are any significant currency movements during 2021. The pre-order scheme will be open until we receive decorated sample models and sign off the production run so you will have time to make your mind up, but remember that you can only secure the discounted price with a pre-order. --- If you're interest in more detail on the survey results, read on... Around 80% of respondents said they would prefer a DC / DCC ready loco, with the remainder split equally between DCC fitted and DCC sound fitted. We're not sure if this is a true reflection of the DCC market or an indication that modellers prefer to fit their own DCC chips, but it turned out to be a very useful question to ask for our planning. From the colour choices on offer we were interested to discover that a majority of respondents preferred the idea of plainer liveries, which would allow a loco to fit in with a freelance industrial scheme and yet still give the option of fitting nameplates or applying transfers to more closely model a prototype. For black, it was virtually a dead heat between lined and unlined, which led us to a final choice of a plain unlined black livery. As well as industrial applications this would act as a good base colour for repainting, and also detailing into British Railways livery. For the green and red options it was a clear choice for simple lined liveries so we will be offering lined green and lined maroon. We will be including etched nameplates and number plates with the loco to suit these liveries, and will likely offer optional transfer packs for other prototype choices. The grey options were closer to call, lined but unlettered was a strong contender but we felt it was important to offer one fully decorated prototype livery and so we have chosen grey lined IW&D 12 as the final variant. Of the other suggestions we received, blue was a clear leader along with a good number of requests for GWR and NCB liveries so these would be front-runners for a second production run.
  7. For a while now, we've felt it’s been getting harder to distinguish between “Narrow Planet”, the range of kits in 009 narrow gauge, the “Narrow Planet” custom etch service, and “Narrow Planet” the online marketplace that hosts a growing range of model railway products for many scales and gauges. From the start, our aim was to support other specialist model railway producers by creating a well-designed online store that could offer a channel to sell and promote their wares without the cost and hassle of setting up their own website. You only need to glance over our current homepage to see how many producers are now stocked, with many customers buying from several complementary ranges in the same transaction. With everything 2020 has thrown at us, we felt it was time to seize the moment and move forward by creating a refreshed website that stands alone - ensuring that the Narrow Planet range and our partners are given equal billing. So in the next couple of weeks you will see the Narrow Planet online marketplace change to become Light Railway Stores, at www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk (the old address will still work too) and if you previously registered an account with us it should move across seamlessly. Then in early 2021 we’ll reintroduce our popular custom etching service, with additional options and features in the works. We’re also on the look out for more producers to join our marketplace, with a range of options in how we’ll stock and sell models, and we’ll have more details soon on how to get in touch if you know someone who might be interested in coming aboard. Until then it just remains for us to say thank you to all of our customers and partners who have stuck with us through what has been a challenging year for everyone, to wish you a peaceful, safe and happy Christmas - however you’ll be spending it - and we look forward to welcoming to you to our new store in the new year!
  8. Our understanding was that it went from EKR ownership into BR stock in 1948 and was assigned a number, but never carried it before it was scrapped in 1949.
  9. Works Notice 005 https://mailchi.mp/b4e471ffb25d/seasons-greetings-the-latest-from-planet-industrials Includes a great photo of James stroking his chin while chin-stroking about our upcoming Victory print ads
  10. These are just additional industrial liveries for the already announced Model Rail / KMRC "PWM" aren't they? http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/169/PWM-Diesel
  11. We would most likely do the Lambton cab as a 3D print (or a cast of a print) for a future conversion kit.
  12. The ex-Meridian loco kits are now mostly handled by Mosskito NG, who produce them in small batches so their availability comes and goes. The Corris No 4 kit has not yet been revived but this is a possibility for the future. Current production is available through the Narrow Planet marketplace. https://www.narrowplanet.co.uk/collections/mosskito-narrow-gauge
  13. What's been interesting in the results so far is that the more generic liveries are pulling ahead. I have to admit my assumption was that 4mm scale modellers would be more interested in specific locos - and I think the ROD and I&WD lettering would be particularly striking on a model. But perhaps this assumption was informed by e.g. the quantity of prototype liveries Hornby have done with their Pecketts, and the true demand is for industrial locos that can be customised to the user's own setting. We've had a very strong response to the survey already and it's been very helpful, so thank you to everyone who has taken part.
  14. Great news! I've fancied one of these for a long time.
  15. I have a PDF in the Meridian Models archive. PM me or email info@narrowplanet.co.uk and I can sort you out.
  16. It's definitely an interesting one! However it would require entire new mouldings for the cab/tank and cab front and rear so probably not practical for a one-off. David L.O. Smith took a razor saw to a Minerva 7mm scale Victory and it came up pretty well so you could always buy a spare to experiment on https://www.davidlosmith.co.uk/KerrStuartVictoryNo41.htm
  17. I'm still catching up on some of the Sunday videos, but it was a great event and very enjoyable to be a part of. Thanks to all the team for putting it together! Layout highlights for me were probably Tackeroo and the C&HPR one. Sandy Shores too of course but I've seen that for real!
  18. Thanks, glad to hear your interest! The independent East Kent Railway had one which ran in green, as mentioned above. This made it into British Railways ownership but it's believed it never carried its assigned BR number and was scrapped in 1949. Having said that, an olive green one for e.g. Southampton docks post-war sounds like plausible freelance...

  20. Thanks! I'm glad to hear you're excited by it. The gearbox drives on to the rear axle and then its rod coupled (incidentally the coupling rods are articulated rather than a single piece). The humps you can see on the keeper plate are to accommodate the bearings.
  21. James and I are split on EKR no 4 as it was one of the first two locos in the class that was built with a taller cab, not represented on our model. The livery is a firm option but whether we do it with or without the lettering might depend on what people are willing to bear!
  22. Yours looks great Adam! Projected liveries are detailed on our website, we'll likely ask for feedback on these in the near future to gauge demand for each version. https://www.planetindustrials.co.uk/
