Crumpet while thinking at least. And with proper jam (the sutff whose main ingredient list isn't glucose syrup and then a chemistry set) but starts Strawberries...

Funny how after a while you get to know which people might well make comments in which column among these postings. Hi there Debs!

    4. Debs.

      Debs.

I tried biting my (metaphorical) lip; but I just couldn`t resist. :-)

  2. has just put his foot through the floor and discovered we have at least one dodgy board

Thankfully not - the crappy chipboard flooring gave but didn't disintegrate entirely

If your going to replace the whole of the floor get the waterproof chipboard from one of your local building suppliers. It has a sort of green colour to it and has tongue and grooved edges to it all round.

    4. Etched Pixels

      Etched Pixels

I hope we can patch it as it goes under at least one internal wall

I shall talk to the chippy and see what says, good chance to see if while he's doing one job he'll do another 'small one' and do my baseboard bracing 8)

My sympathies. I've removed from sale the few items I had lurking on e-bay for the same reason.

I had occasion to visit the local post office in Ivybridge yesterday. To my surprise, there was but one person at the counter when I went in and no one else. It's not that small a room, so you don't have to stand too close to anyone else.

My sympathies to those who are unable to visit their POs, though.

sounds like they have brought in an academic. Interlink and CityLink threw all their old customers away and the GPO benefitted. PPD, PEC and othere are still etching.

    2. Etched Pixels

  14. has a big pile of ex crownline white metal moulds in his cellar and an identification headache

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

That will be fun....not. Crownline moulds were many and varied, and some of the parts that came out of them weren't worth writing home about, being just lumps. I did wonder whose hands they had passed through after Crownline went down. The cast brass and nickel-silver parts were a bit better.

  21. Langley N2 assembled. How I love white metal kits where the inside of the body is fractionall smaller than the chassis

    1. Kelly

      Kelly

does white metal suffer 'shrinkage' like resin does then?

    2. Etched Pixels

      Etched Pixels

That depends - if you make a rubber mould from a master it shrinks a spot, if you make one from some of the other materials it grows about the same amount instead - very useful.

In this case it needed a bit of filing of the top of the motor block to fit - something that *could* have been in the instructions . grump 8)

  22. GNR day in the 'build all the old kits in the acquisitions box', today an N2 and a J52 mostly assembled, not that I actually have a chassis for either currently!

    1. Kris

      Kris

That's a pain, at least these can be replaced with ease. I hope it won't cause you any issues with the day to day running of Ultima.
