Many thanks Tim. I'll check the axle diameters to make sure they are the same and re-read your blog before commencing. Thanks again for bringing this blog to my attention.

Continuing on from Shwt thread.
Long before the Dapol Class 22 was announced, I purchased a Silver Fox class 22 Resin Body and a Bachmann Class 20 Chassis. Ultrascale manufactured a Conversion Pack (Spoke Wheels and Gear Set) for the Bachmann Class 22 Chassis. Although when the Dapol Class 22 was announced I abandoned the Silver Fox / Bachmann Chassis idea.
Having read you Blog has given me another idea of modifying my Ultrascale Wheelset to fit the Dapol Chassis. I think this will be my best option other than pulling the original wheelset out to EM Gauge. The only thing I'm not sure about is fabricating any bushes if required.
How are the Stub Axles secured to the Gear Wheel on the original Dapol Wheel Set, are they a push fit, knurled or maybe glued?

I question whether the retailer should have dispatched a new item in this condition. I wouldn't have been too pleased to have received it like that. However, well done on your excellent repairs.

Lovely weathering. Your Loco reminds me of my Crewe Works visits during the 80's when the 37's were being converted to 37/4's. Great Livery and Loco's.

Thank you. Roof fixed - the next entry will show that, but keep it a secret.
Your secrets safe with me !

That's a great shame about the Roof , although I am sure you'll soon have it fixed.
Looking very nice though.

Yes it's a great shame the Mainly Trains Detailing Kits are no longer available. I did manage to acquire at least one kit plus various spares so hopefully have enough for my requirements. Haven't seen any 1/2 price DJM's otherwise I may be tempted though!

The Hornby Model scrubs up well!

I can thoroughly recommend "Railways of Telford" book having recently purchased a copy.

What a beautiful engine, just as I remember them.

Very nicely done. 7427 was at Newton Aboott during the 1950's which is the era that I am interested in for my proposed BR(W) Moretonhampstead layout, so no doubt I will be following your footsteps at some stage!

Ian,
All comments noted.
As I have said elsewhere, if there is anything that I can be of assistance with then please ask. You have a great website as is, it's the data side that's lacking in places.

And if I remember correctly, 21/06/1986 was

I was not very popular!

It's a great shame that BRdatabase appears to be no longer being updated?

The NCE PowerCab is a good foundation on which to build upon. I am about to build a MERG DCC Booster which will increase output to a Max 10 Amps if required.

That could have easily have been me in the early sixties looking at 46245 City of London at Bletchley Station!
-
The Heljan has to be up there too?
-
Very nice!

I've been looking at the various options and the Connisseur Kit would be my choice. You've done a great job with yours!

47500 / 47521 were my favourite locos at Bletchley. Hope to model one or both 7mm one day!
-
Searching the Net for 7/0.2mm suggests about 1.4A.

Thank you for your reply; you've done a nice job. Both the Signalling Diagram and the Wiring Diagram were both drawn with Inkscape. Not an ideal tool for the wiring diagram as when you move something you then have to go back and re-connect any lines that were previously connected to the bit that was moved (and any "hop-overs" have to be put in manually too). -
Very nice drawings, I wonder what package you used?

A brave, but pragmatic solution in reducing the width of the Gearbox, well done!
