I have looked at them with plastic in mind but the problems are as follows. As far as I remember the both coaches need 2 dies for sides because they aren’t identical. On the open coaches the mesh is very fine. And finally are any of the RTR manufacturers thinking about them? They like lots of liveries and there certainly lots of them! Roger

I was exited by the news that I could get a white stripe 104 until I read the price. I rode on them to Manchester and back for a good few years. The best ride I had was when our 6 car pair had failed and they put a class 40 on the front. Went like a rocket!

I just bought an Orchid ready to the second anniversary of Sharon’s death. When my kit for a Manning Wardle F class wasn’t as successful as we would like she asked what’s wrong with it and I said it’s not Ringing Rock. Brian Haresnape was my life drawing teacher at art school and he told me that there was no choice but blue. Although it was a new hard wearing formulation, and how wrong that turned out to be, there was another instruction passed down from on high. When the railways were nationalised the management of the regions carried on in their own sweet way so a decision was made that the new livery must not have any links to the big four. I’m sure I would have said Blue A4s, but I don’t remember! Roger

Have you all noticed on eBay the superbly built and painted example of our Wainwright J 0-6-4T. The thing that I don’t understand is the positively bizarre choice of prototypes and the fact that people are prepared shell out for them. A 4DD when nobody’s done a dinky die 4SUB. I would guess if the did a SUB and possibly a 4COR they would have made more profit than from all the rest of the junk. Roger

Tedious and misinformative. I would love to lay into Fred Karno’s army, but I’d probably get hounded off the forum. Why do I watch it? It’s funnier than most sitcoms these days. Lifting the end of the baseboard up to see if the A4 needed rubber tyres! Roger

Am I the only one to notice the similarities between the new Hornby control system and the Lego train control, unless it’s in the previous pages? I’ve always been attracted to what I understand is called “dead rail”. Roger

Thanks Paul. I’m quite surprised at only a foot longer the proportions look a lot different. I assume the door is the same as on a 9 footer. My son’s late father in law used to work at Horwich until it closed. Roger

There were two diagrams of what I call smooth sided blue spot fish vans dia 800 and 801. Although they look alike almost nothing is the same, especially the bracing. They even have a different roof radius. I probably used the earlier drawing because they lived longer and there was less bracing to cut. When I read the above thread I assumed that rather than duplicate the Parkside kit it was being suggested that we produce the later diagram. A couple of things I’ve learn about these vans. Firstly once they were transferred to parcels service they didn’t always retain their roller bearings and secondly somebody wrote they were used to distribute the Readers Digest. Roger

When I enter the site I go to the new entries index and a rectangular box from Digitrains appears in the bottom right hand corner and it has a button on it which when pressed it goes away instantly. Once I have chosen the forum I want to read it comes back, as it is now (showing a 44xx running up and down). This time there is no go away button so it won’t go away. Using an iPad by the way. Roger ps it’s now a Peco England!

Has the forum been taken over by Digitrains? I paid my Gold subscription and it was super, but now I can’t escape Digitrains on every page. It goes away on indexes but not on content pages. Roger
