  6. Nine weeks to go and the work starts in earnest. We are now selling advertising space in the show guide which can raise as much as £1,000. Geoff Endacott
  7. Headline on the new RAIL magazine. Time to sack the DfT...? Geoff Endacott
  8. Why didn't they put the first class in the middle so it doesn't matter which way round the set is running? Orientation doesn't matter when the trains are symmetrical. Geoff Endacott
  9. So that's what the chap with the shovel is burying in the garden. Geoff Endacott
  10. That's not bad. Two of the top ten layouts will be coming to Trainwest this year. www.trainwest.org.uk Geoff Endacott
  11. And there's a lot of hot air in Goring. And Steventon. Geoff Endacott
  12. The masts on the GWML need to be closer together than those on the Continent otherwise the residents of Goring might not notice them. Geoff Endacott
  13. Very busy today with the highest attendance for three years. Let's hope it continues tomorrow. And it didn't snow - at least not in Calne. Geoff Endacott.
  14. Does a double diamond on a signal post mean that the driver should stop for a drink? Geoff Endacott
  15. If Hornby did 44908, does that have the correct body for the Fort William batch 44972-77 because those are the ones we really need? However, 44908 itself looks promising because it was noted on shed at Fort William on 1 April 1961. Thanks. Geoff Endacott
  16. That's a very useful start. I now need to start hunting for photos. Many thanks. Geoff Endacott
  17. They've changed their minds. Saturday's forecast is now sleet and a gentle breeze. It'll be fine. Geoff Endacott
  18. I am pleased to report a huge increase in ticket sales - up by 450%. (We have sold eleven. Last year at this stage it was two. Most people pay on the door.) Geoff Endacott
  19. So if you try to change a car light bulb on a level crossing, the longer it takes the more likely you are to be hit by a train. Geoff Endacott
  20. The Fort William batch seem to be 449xx so this particular model is wrong. Maybe we will need to go for visitors from elsewhere in Scotland. Locos seen in photos on the West Highland include 45367, 45396, 45400, 45423 and 45443. Maybe we will need to go for one of those. Thanks for the contributions and yes - diesels are easier. Once I have sorted the club's Scottish 1960 fleet I am going back to work on my own 1970 diesel-hydraulics. Geoff Endacott
  21. My efforts to put together a locomotive fleet for Kannotburn, West Highland c1960, are continuing. We will obviously need several Black Fives, but I am unfamiliar with the detail differences. We are using the Hornby model as a starting point and so far we have two. The slight problem is that both are numbered 45253 which is probably not prototypical. So my first question is, which number range(s) are appropriate for renumbering the Hornby model of 45253? Many thanks. Geoff Endacott
  22. Weather forecast: Saturday - light rain showers and a moderate breeze. Sunday - sunny intervals and a moderate breeze. So perhaps it isn't going to snow this year. Geoff Endacott
  23. Is it really less than two weeks to go? What have I forgotten to do this year? Geoff Endacott
