  1. Had Europcar in York give us a Citroen C1 when we had booked a Ford Fiesta. Day we took it back spotted the tax disc was a month out of date.
  2. One of my colleagues in Control put out a pager message to say that the trip wires had been activated, needless to say that generated a lot of panicky phone calls, even though it was the S&T that had set them off. I always thought if a plane was low enough to hit them you would know about it!
  3. Up Chichester vans. The caption supplied with this negative says E6022 with Parcels train in July 1964. Well the date is clearly wrong as the loco and vans are all in rail blue with the loco having full yellow ends. Date more likely July 1974. Both the EMU's in the distance appear to be in Blue / Grey livery. The loco is indeed E6022 ( 73116 ). UFL just south of Gatwick Airport station. The posts alongside the line carry the trip wires to turn the signalling to red if hit by a low flying plane!
  4. The coach was detached at Brighton and attached to a Mk1 rake that probably came from New X Gate or Clapham Yard.
  5. The notes on the slide say 1330 B Arms to Brighton. I do have a MF B&W neg of what is probably the Chichester vans northbound at Gatwick. I’ll post that later, think this loaded with tomatoes etc from Angmering.
  6. Excellent layout, saw it at the Doncaster show this year. I remember getting a train from my relatives in Nottingham up to Alfreton and Mansfield parkway then the bus to Shirebrook back in the early 1980s. The town was very grimy and run down but a short walk to the depot made it worth while. My uncle who was a sales rep meet me at lunchtime and we blagged a quick look round the depot.
  7. Brighton and Hove Albion football team often travelled to the match on the supporters special train. The Pullman was used for them. Its E315 Heron which luckily Farish have modelled.
  8. Thought you might like this rendition...OK its not on a layout of a Bricklayers Arms to Brighton parcels train in n gauge. The original picture is taken from Essex House at Croydon.

  10. RailNscale Chevettes, Estelles and 504's nearly finish, just windows to add and tidy up some of the wheel hubcaps / tyres.
  11. Last weekend before the builders start, all the electrics are disconnected from the parts of the house being demolished, skip arrived this morning. Time for a nice refreshing glass of Tim Taylor’s Landlord with tonight’s dinner.
  12. Just one picture today, the cars are almost complete, details picked out. tyres and wheels need a second go and glazing ( Kristal Klear ) adding. Spot on the roof of the 504 is a pain...might need a repaint or another vinyl roof!
  13. No Yugo not even the Fiat it was based on or the Maxi he had beforehand.
  14. Yes, the 1970's did have some weird colour ranges...lots of beige and brown plus some loud colours like bright yellow and orange........bit like the curtains, sofas etc. Not much done this week but the RailNscale cars have been painted and a start made on picking out the details. From L to R Chevettes, 504's and the Estelle's. In real life the yellow and red are much brighter. The grey looking Skoda is in fact a beige colour.
  15. I hope your not thinking of giving Keith a bill for the airline tickets...it’ll wreck his holiday budget.
  16. It can stop raining now, I’ve had enough.

Oh dear. I might have to rediscover the mower, just to decapitate the weeds.

Well, everything needed a good drink. It’ll get plenty this week!

  17. Painted the Chevettes a couple of days ago, yellow hatch, red saloon and silver estate. The Skodas are now beige and blue and the Peugeot’s brown and maroon.
  18. Mine arrived today along with my subscription copy of Modern Railways....well sorted for the weekend!
  19. For post 1980 MY read pre 1980 MY.....these have the recessed headlights.
  20. Was it this from IMU? https://www.en.dm-toys.de/produktdetails/items/IMU-VW-Brezel-1.html
  21. Yes I might regret the decision. Silver was a Chevette colour even back in 1977.
  22. I think the other car is a BMW. Never had the models, they look like they are made of a rubbery plastic that will probably be a problem trying to glue to it. The Porsche looks rough especially the rear window. the Mk1 Capri doesn’t look too bad, side windows maybe a tad small?
  23. I spent today cleaning and sanding mine....very spooky......yellow hatch, red saloon....but did the estate in silver. The vauxpedianet website is excellent been on my faves for a while.
  24. My Chevettes arrived earlier in the week, still to clean them up yet. Nearly bought a 3 door hatch in Jamaica Yellow as my second car, but went for the White Viva with dark blue vinyl roof instead!
