    If the Acknowledgee acknowledges the Acknowledger, that makes him or her an Acknowledger as well. So what does that make the original Acknowledger?

      Makes them the acknowledgee until they acknowledge the acknowledgement. Thereafter they become the acknowledger and the roles reverse. They could, of course, be a past-previous acknowledger. Think of it like a game of tennis without the grunting...
