  2. A Miss Marple film with good 1960s WR scenes currently on Channel 5

  3. Nice afternoon on the Mid Hants Rly with a pleasant ride behind a certain person of this parish who was working his skill on teh regulator of the Black 5 for part of our trip to Alresford. Then back to Alton and, hmm 'shopping'.

Mike , you know the ' shopping ' was the best bit . :-)

  4. Off looking at real railways for a day or three, might bring back some pics if the weather turns out nice.

  5. Has just returned from a pleasant but rather chilly visit to the GWS at Didcot, the rail motor shed is something to behold.

  6. Happy New Year to all RMWebbers and their families but especially our great leader and his trusty band of helpers - who will no doubt be keeping us in order for another year.

Thanks matey. ATB to you and yours.

North Korea has no chance of winning 'great leader of the year award' do they.....?

There's so much fun you could have with this....

  7. Has got the Christmas Tree - and it was ruddy freezing up on top of the hills where we bought it. It's now outside drinking in the rain.

  8. Just home with a spot of light reading, 'The railway Magazine from january right through to December, that is January 1931 to December 1941.

Light reading there must have been a few trees killed to do that lot

Ah but that was back when felling trees didn't matter as there were plenty more where they came from, apparently.

  9. What bl**dy day - first I cut myself shaving then herself cuts my lip while trimming my moustache - now another hour or so waiting for it to stop, grrd,

Has Mrs. stationmaster stopped giggling yet...?

The amazing part was when I said to Mrst Stationmaster 'you've got my !*$!!ng lip' and she said 'no I haven't' and blood started coming out of it so you can guess what I said. BTW one tends to bleed quite profusely when on a daily diet of warfarin.

  10. Having got a life and done the shopping and spent 90 minutes clearing some very large fallen hazel tree off the shed I'm now back on here, whooppee!o

You can only say 3 more things. ;)

  11. The Mac is shortly off to the repair shop for a new optical drive - dare I try the MR dvd in it again when I get the 'puter back?

    1. Chris Nevard

      Chris Nevard

the MR DVD worked fine in my Macbook - fingers crossed.

  12. 'puter off to the 'menders' later today - I wonder if they will be able to mend it or whether it will have to go on a trip to the other end of the world?

To be made into a Mac ...

Well the news at the Apple shop wasn't too bad - it will have to have a new dvd drive but it can be repaired locally, when they get the part. (just like the railway 'deferred waiting material' so I bought it home to copy off the rest of the data and I'll have to hump it back when the part is in stock and I'm able to let it go for a day or so).

  13. Had a 'perfect' ecg this morning - and it was done without me having to leave the comfort of my own bed!

Not an e-g-g but an e-c-g, and, as Rod said, it was good news (a nice cuddly paramedic too).

Mine are perfect these days too ...

Mmm, sorry, poor attempt at humour. All the best.

  14. A good quiz night yesterday with a tie for 1st place and broken in our team's favour by Mrs Stationmaster who knew her history; just as well we only do a couple a year as we usually seem to win!.

  15. Has just laid 5 barrowloads of concrete as part of a garden step and is looking forward to a decnt nosh out this evening and a day at Swindon tomorrow.

  16. Spent a happen day at an auction today and added two GWR jigsaw puzzles to the collection although one of the boxes is not in great condition, tomorrow it's back to the concrete mixer and laying a circle of stone slabs as part of the back garden steps plus a delivery from Jewsons which hopefully won't result in any damage this time.

  17. Yes, bits broken off paviors by idiot (former) Jewsons' drivers can be mended with Araldite and survive two days of heavy rain.

    1. Horsetan

      Horsetan

I see a market here for paviors made entirely from Araldite.

    2. The Stationmaster

      The Stationmaster

Especially if Jewsons give you the Araldite free of charge!

  18. Ready to do something dastardly after Jewson's agency lorry driver unloaded stuff in the wrong place, split a bag of cement and broke a pavior in my drive!

    1. St. Simon

      St. Simon

Sounds like the Pavior came to a dusty and sticky end!

  19. OK so it's along time since I was a Stationmaster (Area Manager in my day) but it's more recognisable to non-railway folk than many of the other jobs I have done over the years!
