I'm not a fan of the play offs and following Brighton have witnessed both the highs and lows so today, and apologies to any Chesterfield supporters, was relieved to see Notts County scrape through on penalties after an equaliser in the last knockings of normal time. To manage to accumulate 107 points yet miss out on automatic promotion then nearly lose out to a team that finished 23 points behind would have been a tragedy. It was in the early days of the play offs in 1991 I watched Brighton lose to Notts County at Wembley to gain promotion to the old and original first division. We've been passing each other up and down through the leagues ever since.

Same here; in my 50's, passport expired over 20 years ago and I still have a (perfectly legal) paper driving licence. Does that mean I'm not as old as I feel 😉

Another borefest with the RB strategists managing to put their number 2 driver in his place. I know there were years of Merc dominance but never to the level of the RB's. You couldn't guarantee they'd win as the others were fairly close and did win races. If the rest don't discover how they are so fast, especially with DRS, Max may as well be awarded the title now. It will save a heap of cash and give the FIA time to work out how to make the races exciting. On Sky Ant suggested ditching most of the spoilers which seemed to make sense. As it slowly becomes another US based race series how long will it be before they get bored with the processional races? They are used to Indycar where pretty much everyone has a chance of winning and being a lap down means nothing. As for the teams what are Ferrari doing and as for McLaren..... Merc must be wondering why an OAP in a customer car is beating them every week.

The F1 circus is finding new depths of tedium. At least it wasn't the stewards trying to liven things up this time with crackpot officialdom but a whole raft of photographers looking to play skittles in the pit lane. And just when you think it isn't possible to despise Max any more he pulls one out of the bag.

Although a Brighton supporter I also follow Eastbourne Borough. I used to live 100 yards from their ground and the parents still do but more importantly I played for their youth teams back in the early 80's when they were still called Langney Sports. They did manage 3 years in the conference and looked a good bet to return in the 20/21 season until Covid cancelled the season. Not too bad this year but it looks like they'll fall just short of the playoff spots.

Safety cars and red flags shouldn't be allowed to benefit drivers as it is supposed to be a level(ish) playing field. Pitting under a SC is slightly risky as you lose track position and it has to be a very quick decision but being able to change tires under a red flag is ridiculous. As for the red flags it is now used as a tool to add more drama and excitement to an otherwise boring procession only livened up by the the fake DRS overtaking. Why does this track have 4 DRS zones controlled by 2 DRS lines? You overtake the car in front courtesy of DRS and then get DRS on the next straight to pull further away. Max didn't need to fight for the first corner as he knew as soon as DRS was enabled he could breeze past with little trouble. 3 red flags, 2 restarts from the grid yet the third from behind the safety car? It was suggested in commentary that it was because the final red flag would mean them leaving the pits and the lap to the grid would have been the last lap meaning Max would have had a metre dash from a standing start to win. I reckon that would have been more exciting than just following the SC around and imagine the mad dash from the rest of the field! As for who would start where after the final red flag what a mess.

It's hard to take F1 seriously any more. Another farce.

Perfect qualifying for RB after the tech guys nobble Checko's software to ensure he starts last so not to interfere with their number 1 drivers pursuit of another title 😉

Just woke up to discover the inept stewards have now reinstated Alonso following their ridiculously drawn out decision to give him a second penalty as a jack may have touched his car after the initial penalty for being a few inches wide of his grid slot. Added to the safety car farce a complete shambles springs to mind.

And why did it take nearly 40 laps and a visit to the podium before deciding Alonso's rear jack was touching the car. The stewards had virtually nothing else to do all race so that's 2 farces. Well done!

Sorry but another snorefest and my dislike of the Verstappens deepens. As for "they put the safety car out because the GPS said Stroll's car was on the track" didn't anyone think of looking at the TV screen or perhaps look out the window? What have McLaren done to last years car?
