  1. I recall they were well covered in the contempory "Railway Modeller's". Mick Nicholson.
  2. Gravy, thanks for your comments much appreciated, as is the encouragement you gave during the early building stages, thanks very much. I will add the final weathering and detail once on the layout. Mick.
  3. At "Grayy's" suggestion I am posting the two attached of my model H&B box. Mick.
  4. Finaly found the time and insperation to add and paint the finials. Job now more or less complete, final detail and weathering will be added when on the layout. Mick.
  5. A few attached. The Rocker frame went c1964 and is now a pannel, the original bridge levers remain in use. The signal box, is the original, just heavily rebuilt after a night out with Adolf's men. Mick.
  6. Yes, the bridge and signal box would make an interesting and unusual model. Pressuming 4mm scale, about 5 feet would be required, that would be longer then many a shunting plank. Possably, its counterpart, 30 mile to the east in Hull, could be smaller alternative. Here the signal box is land based, the fancy brickwork and hipped roof etc would make an interesting model. Thanks to "Adolf" it was rebuilt during the last war and is now a very plain looking structure complete with a flat roof. Mick.
  7. Ouse Bridge H&B could originaly swing through 360o ence the dual numbering of the signals. The "Back Board" was painted on both sides but oposite way round on the reverse, depending which way the bridge was closed the board "Flipped" over to give the correct discription. Mick.
  8. The signalling diagram of Ouse Bridge may be of interest. On close study, it is a little unusual. It never altered 1885 to 1959. Mick.
  9. I have not been near nor by since the mid '70's, but I reckon you are right. Best Wishes, Mick.
  10. I'd forgotten there is/was more then one "Ouse Bridge", this as I'm sure you have worked out was on the H&B. For anyone seriously interested in modelling it, I have about 40 photo's, plus also a technical paper with drawings from c1885. Best Wishes, Mick.
  11. Here is something completly different, oddball signal box a lot of work with the foundations. Mick.
  12. Just found the attached, two pictures of the LMS Bracket (Page 4) under construction. The bits hanging off the left end of the trimmer and across the main doll were later bent to shape to attach the Guy Wires. Mick.
  13. Here are a few scans of a 4mm scale GC lower quadrant signal I made quite a few years ago. The spectacle plates are "Doubled Up" to sandwich the "Glasses". I would now "Beef Up" the ladder with 0.3mm wire. We all move on with time and experiance. Mick.
  14. Here is the same model, after complition, with added detail and now on the layout. Peter, I think I did send you some spare Bargeboards a year or two ago. You have obviously, put them to good use. Mick.
  15. Here's one I made for a mate's layout about 10 years ago. Great Northern Rly, D&S etches and embosed brick for the brickwork. The "Cris Cross" handrails were cut out with a piercing saw much the same as working with metal. After picture was taken, there was an amount of extra detailing and weathering added. Mick.
  16. PDear Peter, thanks for your reply. I'm thinking off marketing my special design of model stand, I do have a ready supply of the "Blanks". Mick
  17. Thanks Paul, seems resonable to me. Time for bed "The Tower" calls. Mick.
  18. Not posted a rear view before, and for what it it's worth attached. Once on the layout, the rear of the model will not be seen. Therefore, what is the point of adding unseen detail, what do you the member's think? Mick.
  19. Peter, thanks for your kind comments, yes, natural light is a big improvement. Very little to do now, add the finials and the final weathering. To save time, I have sourced some cast finials, I have put the box to oneside until they arrive. At the moment back to signals, two LMS "tubes" and a Higland Rly lattice Lower Quadrant. Pleased to hear you have made a full recovery and now back at work. Yours, Mick.
  20. Dear John, some nice models. A question, were did you get the carpet shown in several of the photo's from? Looks very much like the one once in our local pub, and after being aquired by the missus now laid in our back bedroom. Mick.
  21. John, as usual, very nice work, at today's prices, I reckon you got the best part of the bargain, pre-grouping intstruments don't come cheap. I have an ex NE Distant Signal Repeater, it must be worth a few "Bob". Mick.
  22. I understand the book is still avalable from the publisher, who have a good stock in hand. If so, contridicts why secondhand copies on "E Bay and Amazon" etc are fetching £37 a piece. Best Wishes, Mick.
  23. Another one I made years ago, and I think now in Canada. 4mm scale, the "Trimmers" are 3/32in K&S square tub, slit lengthways and filed true. The piece of thick card is used as a gauge to set the handrail stancions at correct height. Mick.
