I've had contact (!) with his wife in the years following her Miss World reign - mostly to make presentations at functions. Not a great fan of Bruce since he wanted to charge me £15,000 to open a Charity event near to where he was working. However, one can't deny the man's body of work and he made a great success of it.

Going to Barcelona next month. Will have to dust off my stab vest. Unless I wear an imitation one. A friend has just broken her elbow by slipping in a launderette (didn't know they still had them!). I wonder if there are figures available for accidents tripping over 'Wet Floor' warning cones.

During last night the semi feral cat was sick all over the kitchen. The night before the smoke alarm started beeping (low battery). Tonight I'm expecting at least a headless horseman.

My memories include someone flogging carpets from Kidderminster (?). What a colourful childhood I must have enjoyed.

I have vague memories (most of them are these days) of a plastic switch on the wall with four settings. Number 4 was Radio Luxemburg. Rediffusion? Must have been early days of cable.

One might think that 151 beer taps calls for a huge staff just to clean the pipes! ... and a big cellar to keep 151 kegs/barrels.

My ignorance of anything railway related is common knowledge but I received a picture from a friend of 61264 pulling eight modern coaches because the eight restored coaches had been vandalised. It was going to Pickering (possibly from Whitby?). Is this common knowledge? Feel quite annoyed that the hours spent by volunteers have been wasted by these cretins. Any further info?

Usual here to see more than one soaring. See them most days. Probably four would be the most at one time.

I know very little about this subject but it's been around for such a long time that one might think action should be worldwide and urgent. How that would be accomplished I've no idea.

Two more killed on Snowdon and a lady airlifted with life threatening injuries. Another biker killed near here with no other vehicle involved. The death toll in Wales is horrific. I know ERs are far too sensible to be involved but, if you know folk who want to go to Wales to kill themselves, ask them to think of the rescue workers if not their friends and family.

While I echo the good wishes for Debs and Co, I don't think we need worry about the good news for some. Debs is well grounded and will be happy to hear of such developments.

Groan. Have booked another couple of weeks in Spanish sunshine for September. Due to lavish expenditure in Crete earlier my Euro account is now below €100. Will hold my nerve in case the German Civil War breaks out and improves the value of sterling.
