  1. All buildings are scratcbuilt, definitely no kits for any of these! For the station building there's a basic front elevation in 'North Eastern Record Vol 1' of a Whitby-Loftus building, 'The Forge Valley Line by Robin Lidster has cross section drawings and 'North Eastern Architecture Vol 3' has half a front and half a rear elevation of Grinkle station. The weigh office is from 'The Forge Valley Line' and the signal cabin is a fairly standard S1 type, drawings in all sorts of places.
  2. Summer Saturday only autocar working from Scarborough to Stockton and return, calling at Chop Gate 11.15am.
  3. Freezing out in the shed tonight but managed to get a bit done earlier, land forming on board 1 is basically done. Then the goods train that was shunted yesterday departed.
  4. Building up the land profiles along the back of the layout using strips of plywood. I always cut the ends of adjacent boards together, makes life a bit easier...
  5. Don't know how often wagons were repainted, I would imagine many weren't after this livery change.
  6. Post 1911 as there's an NER G2 with large N E, could be a while after as it looks filthy.
  7. Wow! That's a bit orange. Cleaning the rail tops off improves it a bit. Nicely toned down.
  8. The ones on board 3 are done the same as the plain track, currently on with painting the rails on board 1.
  9. And now for a bit of paint. Rails and chairs have been given a coat of Vallejo 'red leather'. This all looks a bit bright and harsh! When this is dry or there abouts the whole lot is sprayed with a very thin coat, 50/50 paint/water, of railmatch 'sleeper grime' with about 5% black added. This tones down and softens it all nicely. There's still a bit to do but it gives a good basic track colour.
  10. No, the stonework is Slaters 0411 7mm 'Cotswold Stone', which is the smaller of their 2 rough faced stone.
  11. Perhaps it's Thursday, never could get the hang of Thursdays.
  12. Afraid I know very little about such things, they're as they came from Modelu, WW1 soldier on leave and WW1 Sargent. The colouring is pure guessing! (well, not quite)
  13. Yes, I don't think it would have been the easiest line to build, getting out of the top of the dale down clay Bank would have been a challenge. They overcame worse though.
  14. Ballasting is going well, board 4 is done and board 3 is about 2/3 there. Its a bit chilly out in the shed so I've had the bring board 3 in the house to dry, the bit I did last night is still wet. Mrs WF hasn't noticed it as she's watching the Robbie Williams documentary...
  15. The video is set to 'Friends'* so only friends on facebook can see it, you'll need to either set it to public or put it on YouTube. * !!!😲
  16. Just steady away (and Mrs WF has been working lates last week and most of this...) Anyway, the B word has been started... Label on the old bottle has faded a bit, it's done a few layouts.
  17. Bit of progress over the weekend, the 'big field' at the north end of the layout has been built up. There's a small footbridge next to where the road crosses the beck, stone piers fitted and coffee stirrer planks of course, they will be left off until the water is finished. Ratio gate to get an idea what the yard entrance will look like. Probably wont use this one and it certainly won't have a small gate next to it. NER yard entrance gates were very much like level crossing gates, possibly a bit lighter.
