  1. A Southern Railway N class chassis with the leading set of driving wheels removed may be an option. Wheel diameter is similar, 5' 6" for the N, 5' 6" for the H. Not sure about the wheelbase though.
  2. I'm entering a patisserie competition in the morning.... I'm going in with all buns glazing.
  3. Italian Gr 670. They actually produced 43 of them! Four cylinder compounds - 2 high pressure cylinders on one side, 2 low pressure cylinders on the other. Apparently they waddled quite a bit. As if that wasn't bonkers enough, one was fitted with a Franco-Crosti boiler. On the tender. At least they covered it up!
  4. Wolsztyn parade on Saturday 2nd May postponed until probably September. In other news, Ol49-59 took the tender from Pt47-65 back to Wolsztyn earlier this week, after repairs to damage caused by last year's derailment.
  5. The locos for the gala are 92134, 78018 and 76084. The latter has the highest axle load of less than 18 tons, so within RA5 which I believe is the current limit of the line. The 47 is RA7, hence why it's off the NYMR for a few months, it can't be used at WSR.
  6. On the real thing. There are nine columns of rivets on the tender. On the driver's side, the centre of the emblem is on middle column. On the fireman's side, the centre of the emblem is on the fourth set back, rather than the fifth.
  7. Complete with incorrectly placed emblem on the tender! It's a set of rivets too far forward on the fireman's side for some reason. Driver's side is OK.
  8. Lingfield to East Grinstead now not expected to reopen until 30th March.
  9. A p-way yard that, unlike the current one at Dunster, has virtually no road access, so everything will have to come by rail. Dunster is only 5 or so miles away, so I can't see what benefit there is to moving the p/way yard. For a line that is struggling financially, they do seem to have some odd ideas. Three, possibly four, locos hired in for the steam gala in April. The three that have been announced so far are all tender locos, so that's six low loader movements required. That's a hell of a lot of tickets to sell to cover the costs of transportation and hire fees.
  10. Still alive and well on UK Airshow Review forum...
  11. Sorry, yes, I should've said that I have seen the book and no, I wasn't impressed with the reproduction. The covers are great, but there is a lack of black on the inside pages, everything to me seems quite grey and washed out. The night shots are especially bad. Just my opinion though!
  12. Quite a few people I've spoken to about it have said the same thing. It's down to how it's been printed - David Postle from Kidderminster Railway Museum did explain it to me but I can't remember which it was! It's why Transition took so long to appear, the book kept getting printed in grey rather than black and white. It's a shame about the reproduction, for me it's made it a good book rather than the stunning book it could be.
  13. Looks very good, simple but plenty of operating potential. You joke about a virtual museum being just off scene, but there are plenty of museums/depots a short distance from a station - Lyss, Sissach, Le Locle, Brugg and Koblenz for example. Plenty of excuses for something random to trundle by!
  14. Show still going ahead as planned tomorrow, despite the forecast. The canteen will have plenty of tea and cakes to help warm you up!
  15. Four Bulleid coaches will be heading to the Mid Hants Railway in the next few days, to increase capacity for their Flying Scotsman event. I assume by rail, but no times yet in the system from what I can see.
  16. Ah, 364 and 365 - Pinky and Perky!

  19. Son: I was awarded the Leslie Nielsen badge today at school. Dad: What's that? Son: It's a big building full of kids, but that's not important right now.
  20. All GN ones have been scrapped. Some came out of very early hours of Sunday mornings, went to Newport Monday morning, and were in the compactor Tuesday morning!
  21. Both the Kerr Stuart loco and Lisbon tram seem to be for sale now via Traction Ads. http://www.tractionads.co.uk/TRACTION_DOC_No_125.pdf
