  1. The clay has set nicely. The last couple of lunchtimes I have been painted the components of the Brake Van. Time to bring in the paints tomorrow to start painting the scenery.

Hey, it could be worth nothing one day....

  3. The way I look at this type of situation is how much can I spend on model railways per month. I would love to walk into my local model shop and walk out with a Dapol B4, Dapol GWR Railcar, and a Hornby H class tank locos on OO gauge, but as I don't have a layout to run them on or the finances to do so, I won't be buying. I could get very political but I won't, suffice to say my modelling is down to my budget as well as my likes in the railway world. Admittedly my modelling is strange as I model locations I have never been to, or have any connection with other than I like the look of them or what is available to the modeller, while I do use RTR stock, I like building plastic kits, which american and continental modelling give me, British outline doesn't at the moment. Kato's RhB stock is perfect, as it means I can save for it until it is released, and I don't have a myriad of classes and stock to drool over, this means nothing stays in it's box.
  4. Wow, just Wow. That is exquisite modelling.
  5. As a Stourbridge boy although now living down the road in Kiddy, I always enjoy people modelling the Stourbridge town branch, if the magic 6 numbers ever came up and I would love to model Stourbridge Junction. Looks good so far.
  6. Must resist OO Gauge. I want to do HO and 009 first.

The new B4, P Class and Barclay Tanks look awesome.

  7. Well yesterday comprised of Coastal Brewerys Hop Monster (3.7%), and Golden Hind (4.3%), with a couple of Fownes Elephant Riders (4%) in between. Friday involved some Thornbridge Jaipur (5.9%). My local has just been named in the top 4 pubs in the country by CAMRA!
  8. Over the last weeks little Wollastonblue and I have had good fun with scatter, and trees. It was little Wollastonblue who suggested we had a path up to the castle, so we added a hedge around a gravel path. The hedge coming from Mrs Wollastonblues cleaning cupboard. Photos of our progress: Spooning on some scatter: Spreading the scatter out: Halfway there: Static grassing: Waiting for the glue to dry: Up on the supports in the box: We have also made a start on the other side, with some foil, newspaper, and plastercloth. Thanks for looking.
  9. This lunchtime I have completed the laying of the DAS clay, and I will continue to dapple it with the biro this afternoon. A wash of grey paint will occur on Monday. More photos of the progress:

  12. Well I had to go shopping yesterday lunchtime for a small rolling pin and some more paint brushes. But today's lunchtime, I made a start on the inset track. Das clay was rolled out to thickness and then dabbed with the inside of biro. More of the same tomorrow lunch.
  13. I have to say by posting on RMWeb, it does help keep you going as well to keep a thread up to date. My modelling is amateur to say the least, but I'm having a go, and hopefully picking up some more skills along the way.
  14. 28xx at Arley (Oh Dr. Beeching, Goodnight Mr Tom, etc.): Class 40 leaving Kiddy (Dancing on the Edge):

  16. For my CBC, I need a small area of water for my fishing boat. Now I'm not tight, but I hate waste. At £4+ for a tin of varnish, I was thinking that maybe a layer of Clear Nail Polish on top of a painted area might work. Has anyone else used it for water or any other modelling?
  17. The track has been laid, and I have started painting the Brake Van kit, completing the brown parts. 1 hour does go fast, but it's good to do something rather than fester on faceache or playing some pointless game. Here is the track laid, the stapler is keeping it down while the PVA sets.
  18. Another play in Paint, and following a bit of advice from stubby, I have come up with another mock up for the fishermens shed: So I've gone for just a cuboid structure, so i can then get the measurements for the roof a lot more accurate. Todays lunch time is primed for track laying and kit painting.
  19. A lunchtime visit to Tennents Trains, has seen me walk away with a pack of Das Clay, 2 lengths of 2nd hand Hornby track, and Dapol Brake Van kit with a couple of paints. The next few lunchtimes will hopefully start to show some scenic work begin.
  20. I looked at a Railbus halt too, but one on the Tetbury branch. If I get Scone Quay finished, and if a Dapol Railbus kit slips onto my desk the who know. I've got to get my hands on a load of coffee stirrers anyway. Good luck with this, if it's anything like your boxfiles it'll be superb.
  21. Finally got another lunch hour when I could do something. Thanks to Stubby for the advise with the mock up of the Fishermens Shed. Photos of todays progress: The building is too small, so it's back to the drawing board. Is there a free CAD program out there that might help with the building design, rather than Paint? Cheers for now.
  22. I've salvaged some more card to build up the quayside, and will crack on with that at lunch. I can however play with paint, on my PC while I make calls, so I have played with the fishing sheds and come up with a VERY VERY basic design. Just to see how it fits. It's pay day soon, so I'll be getting the majority of the bits I need to build it.
  23. Other not mentioned: Locos: Rosie - A pink and white USA dock tank Millie - Decauville Well Tank Molly - GER D15 "Claud Hamilton" Caitlin - B & O P7A Belle - Standard 4MT Tank with Water cannons Marion - Self propelled Steam Shovel
