  1. Similar spot to my last one, but on a wet Diesel weekend.
  2. There's a coach on the left hand side on this one. If that counts?
  3. Right, after bit of thinking, it's time to break out the Plastic glue, tweezers, cutting board, and sniff the thinners. The Plan: The Scene: Somewhere in the north of Scotland, a fishing boat is landing it's catch of Haddock, ready to be loaded into the waiting Blue Spot fish van. On the other siding a L & Y Class 21 simmers in the warm Scottish sunshine waiting for them to finish. The Construction Plan: I love building plastic kits, and have always fancied a go at the Dapol L&Y pug plastic kit, just as it is without the worry of motorising it. Model shop dependant will mean either a RtR Blue spot van or a Parkside Dundas kit. The boat is to come from a 3d Printer on ebay, with other accessories, and then (drum roll please) my first attempt at scratchbuilding a fishermans workshed with net loft. The track is going to be inset using DAS modelling clay. I have some hardboard I can cut into the relevant size, and long with some polystryrene sheets for the height. I know it's not the most imaginative trackplan, but I want to do something that allows me to look at small details, and also something that isn't going to cost me more than £50.
  4. i haven't seen the trailer, I have seen one video of it though courtesy of my neighbour who was involved with it. He hasn't been given a date yet, but it meant to be early November.
  5. Thanks for the help guys. After a little consultation with Mrs Wollastonblue, who said why can't it go around so little Wollastonblue can watch trains go round, I have had play again and if I use Minitrains track I can get it to fit: This plan still give daddy the chance to do a bit of shunting. How does the minitrains track compare to PECO? I have noticed it is a bit more expensive than using PECO flexitrack though. I'll have a look at tracksettas to see if there is anything suitable.

  7. Little Wollastonblue and I have a little progress to report, there is a major chunk that i haven't got photos of and I will get round to taking photos of it and putting them up here. Little Wollastonblue and I have planted some trees and the Alpine Chapel, along with some bushes, and a small embankment as the viaduct pops up a little higher than the trackbed I cut. I also put some fine OO ballast around the edge of the river and the piers on the viaduct, I have put some larger gravel on but I think they're too large. Here is some photos: Thanks for reading, and I will be posting some more updates soon.
  8. I blame my little one for this idea. My little boy loves the narrow gauge trains on the Island of Sodor, particular Rheneas whose name he thinks is hilarious. I have an RhB layout in the building, and an American HO switching layout in the pipeline. But having seen that Rheneas is available through Bachmann in the US, my wife and I have been thinking about a small narrow gauge layout that will fit on a shelf in his room. I also like the idea of kitbuilding some coaches and wagons to go with it. Playing with Anyrail, I have come up with an idea based on an idea on Carendt.com for a layout based on the Rye and Camber Tramway. It also struck me that Rheneas himself is very similar to the Bagnall Tanks used on the tramway. So B & Q came up with a shelf 1190mm x 320mm which would be perfect, and play with Anyrail produced this track plan: I like the idea of a Passenger train serving the beach and the golf club, a freight to the village further down the line, and a gravel train of tippers shunting onto the pier to load into a boat. Plenty of Wills kits as well for Daddy to build. With the wayside station kit, and sheds for beach huts, water tower, and other bits will appear. A few questions I have is: i) Are there kits of Vee tipper wagons that operate so I can acctually tip gravel into the boat? ii) Are the new Peco 009 setrack points electrofrog or insulfrog? iii) Are the Parkside Dundas plastic kits difficult? Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

  16. Have you seen: https://www.noch.com/en/product-categories/buildings-for-model-railroaders-and-diorama-builders/laser-cut-building-kits/city-country-village/business-buildings/winery-hauser-buhler-66712.html This looks spectacular. I look forward to seeing this progress.
  17. First US HO, and now 009 is drawing me in.

  18. I do have 3 issues of Playboy for my collection due to them publishing James Bond short stories by Ian Fleming and Raymond Benson. I have to say the writing in Playboy was overlooked compared to other Art magazines. I remember a particularly good article on Brandy and Cigars. RIP Hugh, shame I never to got to go to one of your parties.
  19. I may be preaching to the converted but try https://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com/ I used them for Faller and Vollmer kits, although the Euro exchange rate is poor it still works out cheaper than the Faller sellers in the UK. No commercial connection, just a satisfied customer.
  20. I do occasionally stray out of Kidderminster. Princess Coronation at Birmingham International on the Saturday of the Warley Exhibition a couple of years ago:
  21. I have left instructions with SWMBO for 3 tracks: Pet Shop Boys - Always on my Mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDe60CbIagg Talk Talk - It's My Life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ixRWvrkUHo Storm - It's time to burn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0dUwjZNLjw My other request is that if there is cash to be put behind the bar afterwards it's only to be spent on Real Ale.
  22. A few of my afternoon down on by the Rifle Range: Disappointed that the P Class was operating up the north of the line, but you can't have everything. The Spring Gala looks promising for next year with the B12 on the teak stock.
  23. OK so I am slowly getting into some of the "Craft" beers that are coming out. Morrisons have a good range and if you can get hold of this: http://www.bottleshack.uk/purity-lawless-lager.html?search=lawless, even as a hardened Real Ale drinker this is really good. However if you find one called Drop Kick Me Jesus by Tempest Brewery, unless you really like sour stuff don't bother.

I'll have to pop and have a look on my way to The Weavers tonight. I did pass 1501 on the back of a lowloader a fortnight ago on my way back from work.
