  1. Yes I rather think Mr Hanson will be doing some very good business with these. Thanks for that additional shot Andy - it confirms what we thought, pass the Model strip. Many will be happy to live with it am sure, its certainly not the end of the world. As for the better preserved state of the 43's paintwork perhaps all the oil down the bodysides helped! Phil
  2. Anticipation rises - but there was always going to be an issue.....hopefully this is the only small one! Scrutinising the BRM image of 842 in the area of the nameplate and barbed wire Jimbo and I noticed something isn't quite spot on - are both the nameplate and double arrows over sized? Look at the margin around the actual name on the plate on the model and the line on which the top of the name itself finishes compared to the pinterest picture of the same loco And the barbed wire isn't symmetrically placed on the body side between name plate and solebar as it appears on the model - its off centre towards the name plate. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/100805-brm-august-dvd-detailing-kit/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/68861278@N03/8548527936/in/photolist-e2prwG-4yntoV-4wTPPJ-85hcam-dByFfc Of all issues this will be easy to correct and certainly not a major problem for those of us indulging in renumbering and renamimg Are etched plates supplied Andy? Phil
  3. Ooh look - a double chimneyed Brit! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-GAUGE-BRITAINNIA-CLASS-70014-MODIFIED-LOCOMOTIVE-RENAMED-TORNADO/231598139234?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D32332%26meid%3D09e44a33cfb14233850f05dbc8822101%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D261940593082 Phil
  4. Agreed - but might be tempted for Norton Junction on phase 2 - narrow gauge of course! Phil
  5. Great progress Paul!!! Many thanks for sharing Phil
  6. Post 460 in http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/11410-abbotswood-junction-with-prototype-latest-photos-video/page-19has the latest additions to the Abbotswood fleet Phil
  7. So heres the progress D1666 has initial weathering, other two are at satin varnish stage Transfers are Railtec later font number sets and data panels, and Fox Early font and arrows Heres the boiler port differences L to R that's Clayton (D1666), Spanner (D1725) and blanked off - 1830 was No Boiler from new, that's an Extreme Etchings blanking plate over a Clayton port And of course theres the Extreme Etchings works plates Crewe for 1666, Brush for 1725 and 1830. Looks like someone has chiselled some digits off that Crewe plate! Awesome jobs there from Mr Hanson.... Phil
  8. Can I ask how much work has to be done on the V /crossing nose/frog area Paul - or do they come ready fabricated? Cheers Phil
  9. 1S56 up to Stirling 22.25 Abbotswood, 1V54 down to NA - 06.11 Abbotswood 1E01 up to Sheffield, 16.25 Abbotswood, 1V53 down to NA - 02.21 Abbotswood Load 14 - significant trains! Now where can I get a BSO???? Phil
  10. Thanks Mr Stovepipe! Got a feeling there might have been two sets - one of TCVs, wasn't the other standard motor- rail flats? Certainly pictures at Newton Abbott with TCVs in - I never saw them through Abbotswood but when you see the timing of the train its hardly surprising - never did an all nighter there, once it got dark in the wilds of the countryside you couldn't see a thing....! Yes the Southern Pride kits are on the radar but given Bachmann's liking of all things ECML I reckon they might appear RTR eventually..... Phil
  11. Hi Nidge Wtt says via Lickey so Camp Hill - largely it was only class 8s via Toddington at this time, presumably to keep them out of the way and avoid all that brake pinning down.... No guarantee that happened on the day of course - but have see a picture of a 43 at Blackwell on a down freight, cant put my hands on it at the moment though... Cheers Phil
  12. Mr TV turned up last weekend with a fantastic document - a list of all Class 42/43 Warship workings through Cheltenham in 1971, an absolute gold mine. Taken from the Loco T cards owned by Mark Alden - many thanks Mark! I was expecting most of the workings... 1B01 Paddington - Worcester newspapers 5B73 Malago Vale - empty Worcester vans 1B44 Worcester - Paignton and 1B78 return 4V03 Brum - Bristol parcels 7E18 Worcester - Temple Mills freight As I suspected turns out the loco that worked 5B73 often worked 4V03, getting up to Brum on 6M20 parcels from Worcester But - hold on to your hats - how about 1S56 - that's the Newton Abbott - Stirling Motor- rail on two occasions - and on one of there as far as Crewe, returning on 1V87 Manchester - Penzance. Then theres 1M08 FO Paignton - Manchester FO as far as Brum on several occasions, looks like the loco then disappeared off to Saltley whilst they worked out what to do with it although on one occasion 1V91 York Bristol was a lucky train - and on another 7V63 Tinsley to Severn Tunnel Junction had the honour. I just hope the headcodes on these new 43s are easy to remove!!!! Going to be busy.... Phil
  13. Many thanks again folks - for all the supportive words re the flooding, which is still awaiting re-assessment, and also for the appreciative comments on the video The latter is a significant investment in time - not only setting up the layout for the weekend but also four hours offilming which got edited down to the 15 minutes or so you have seen. So where to go from here? The working signals performed excellently over the weekend so lets get the others finished.... Telegraph poles and trees took a lot of hits over the weekend, replacement programme needed. And as ever theres motive power.... The Bachmann 43 fleet is eagerly awaited, better finish off some other projects before they get here, see other threads for thoughts on them... D6320 had its sound chip robbed, need to replace that now it has a new PC board fitted and behaves sensibly.... Then theres the Brush 4 fleet.... D1666 and D1725 have existed as Tubbyduffs for a while - you wont have seen them in videos as we were not happy with them. So they are being replaced.... D1666 is easy - just a straight renumbering of a Bacchy Thor, correct boiler port and Serck grilles already fitted D1725 was so wrong as it was - wrong boiler port, Serck grilles and I had even renumbered it with the wrong font numbers!!! A Bacchy 47148 has the correct boiler port and the original 3 piece fixed rad grilles so that's on the bench too - as is D1830, another Bcchy Thor job, Serck grilles are again correct but boiler port needs plating over on this NB as built loco - have the parts from Mr Hanson to do that, Thanks Brian! - and Steve at Railtec has done me number sets for these 3 locos so should be a quick job for all 3 once the original shells have numbers etc removed - wheres that Model strip? That just leaves D1584 on the list, need a Bacchy D1764 for Spanner boiler and Serck grilles for that one... Phil
  14. Many thanks for that Chaz! Cracking photos of beautiful Lepidoptera yet again... Phil
  15. Agree with that John Will be doing the same unless refuted by others Am sure those steps will come in handy elsewhere.... Phil
  16. That really looks the part John! Smashing Phil
  17. That's a fair old bash John but worth it for the views flora and fauna Yes of course can see what you mean about the Whittington aspect - will go and have a look at that myself in a couple of weeks time, need to call on a friend in Worcester and then off to DRS OPen Day in Carlisle with my old Worcester school chums Give me a bell next time you are over for a pint if that suits Phil
  18. Certainly is! Only colour early Tops panels ever were - later ones were translucent Phil
  19. My first - D847 Strongbow at BNS November 1967 Always a favourite! Phil
  20. Hi there You can remove the original numbers with Modelstrip paste and speak to Steve at Rail Tec about transfers for the new numbers We did this to renumber our BR loco to D9525 Kind regards Phil
  21. Thanks Andy Its the mix of colours and textures isn't it? Amongst visitors at the weekend was the artist Nick Trudgian who was making similar comments Largely its scatter over hanging basket liner or scenic mat - nothing too fancy Kind regards Phil
  22. That is a very sad clip - but fascinating none the less! Phil
