  1. Very true Derek! Thanks for the balanced view Phil
  2. Don't know how widely this has been seen - sorry about the adverts! Not proud of this - its my home town team after all - and the 4th time Khan had been kicked up in the air during the game. Phil
  3. Noooo that's what the railway is for!!!! Phil
  4. 1035 had a scar - its almost as if someone was making a habit of leaving wagons standing foul to do this! - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/arthurmorley/7752164298/in/photolist-pUiRJY-ciD77j-orMUbQ-cP2Sn9-ebRN1t-df3gX9-aEBZE5-df3foo-b9dgPT-r9tf1A-aEyanX-fNKtAa-6YRde2-hsvsWZ-aEyajX-q56fDU-bfLsjT-n6uXwc-kC6gt1-bfLshZ-bfLsn2-cvEYsY-aF1cYh-kq6ACV-dMpj1X-9xaeqq-oW2ADX-kq6YaT-bvmRLT-ouBTEx-oqQs9y-oboDhx-osSgVk-e35kix-nrpV3u-9uubA4-cMRLRW-d5fmpN-d5fshA-d5foiG-d5fnxW-drL2V9-9SDP9D-5F9jKb-aDmBBf-df3PmP-deEv8T-66uJXB-kFYhpF-eJGNhx But it isn't the same as in the photo - agree with you Peter the scar and also front end condition look like 1031 - but cant square that up with the number, can you? Phil
  5. Cheers Neil my money is on 35 too but would like to find another pic with that scar - unless your high res scan clarifies matters of course! Kind regards Phil
  6. hi Jonny Went through that loop and dismissed Guardsman - this loco has headboard clips, IIRC 25 to 29 didnt kind regards Phil
  7. Nice ones Brian! Rather special when pastimes combine - likewise with footy Kidderminster Harriers stadium used to be good for watching both the game and passing railway activity - only went there when Worcester City were playing of course, if an evening game Hymeks were likely there too in the late 60s/early 70s. Also fishing locations where the railway was in proximity - during evenings spent at Cheney Longville just north of Craven Arms the trout tickling on the River Onny was punctuated by passing traffic on the Hereford - Shrewsbury line including Class 40 hauled freights. Happy days! Phil
  8. At least he isn't modelling Wick! Phil
  9. Only place I ever got booted off was Stratford - always felt daunting going down that tunnel! Phil
  10. Thanks for that Andy My timetable knowledge is probably stronger for the 60s/70 than the 90s - as you might have guessed Kind regards Phil
  11. But if you hadn't got the bus fare it was a fair old walk!!! Phil
  12. Ah that fits in better with the original OWW service patterns which of course was through to Wolverhampton via Worcester. The last vestige of that was the Kidderminster portion of the Cathedrals express which IIRC ran until at least 1964 - comined with Hereford portion and additional coaches at Worcester - what timescale are you thinking of ANdy? kind regards Phil Phil
  13. Thanks Brian When did the first rebodied hoppers appear I wonder? Phil
  14. Great stuff Dave Like the photos of Reading in 1976 in Downendian's hydraulic thread - how many of us were there? Remember it was a great weekend out on the Strongbow Express - IIRC for those who joined at Cheltenham or earlier there was the pleasure of being one of the last passenger trains over the Cheltenham - Toddington - Honeybourne line Phil
  15. Heres a cracking train of hoppers - hard to believe there so much variety in the train this late on http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/95191-neils-hydraulic-pics/page-14- post 334 Can anyone with sharper eyes spot any diagram 100s in there? Cheers Phil
  16. Hmm .... could it be something one might create from microstrip and gently file to shape??? Hee hee Wasn't aware till you posted, Neil Cheers Phil
  17. Run these wagons at a 1960s WR diesel hydraulic modellers convention??? And thats from a lover of said machines! Phil
  18. Wonderful! Both Paul and Jonny's shots are so evocative.... Suspect 1065 is at OOC - not aware of a roundhouse in Swindon Works As for that shot of 1072 at Reading - how many of us could that be sat on that platform end I wonder? And 1062's train of hoppers - would like to link to that from the Hornby hopper thread if you dont mind , what a feast of wagons! Many thanks for sharing Phil
  19. Spot on Robert The lack of connection with trains using the Norton Junction - Abbotswood Junction Curve is a fundamemtal flaw in this plan Kind regards Phil
  20. Rifleman without a doubt! Heres what a quick google unearthed on Runtheredline's photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/24292321@N02/2367506432/in/photostream/ Not only the dent but also the paint wear on the front Cheers Phil
  21. That will be like these then Ian - page 3 of another thread of mine http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75534-rail-blue-tops-late-70s/page-3 Cheers Phil
  22. Hi Ian Clives post is spot on - the variation in mineral wagons from the steam age - wooden, slope sided, cupboard door - had all gone by 67. SO for late 60s early 70s as Clive says its the variations on the 16 tonners for us - with 21 tonners on some flows If you go back up this thread there are some prototype shots of typical trains of the period if you haven't already seen them Cheers Phil
  23. Was tempted to post along those lines but thought it was too cruel following your misfortune! Phil
  24. Know what you mean Neil - perfect shots are rare but the subject matter and the outcome justifies the patience required. Havent achieved much with anything other than the conspicuous vanessids myself Phil
