  1. my head is still recovering from attempting to sleep on the Night Riviera from Penzance last friday. FGW must specially select their roughest wheelsets for fitting under their mk3 sleepers...dbdbdbdbdb....

5 pints of Cornish Crown Stout was a good start...

Nowt wrong with the bogies on Mk3s IF they keep the wheel flats machined off and look after the bearings...

Thought you only needed that for carrying fare paying passengers. Has it changed?

As far as I understand it, I can carry up to 8 passengers as long as it's not for hire or reward and the vehicle can be a maximum 7.5 tons. I think 122 is somewhat more than 8 tons and has 74 seats. The museums I am involved with organise vintage running days where they give free rides on the old buses but they insist all drivers be PCV qualified even if they don't need to be. It's probably for the best just in case of any incidents. I don't think any driver CPCs are required...

  4. Today's earworm. Victoria by the Kinks. Top tune but I prefer the Fall's version.!

  6. Having a rough evening at the workbench tonight, MP3 player keeping me going with some good tunes. Just about to lose it with some electronic bits and chuck them across the room when "Horizons" by Genesis comes on the MP3, a tune that's always made me stop and enjoy the moment ...1minute 41seconds later all is calm and I'm chilled out again. The power of music eh?

  10. wants to copy and paste a few hours into the day between getting up after nightshift and going back in to work again. There always seems to be too much modelling left over after the free time runs out.

Must be like trying to mask and spray a McCoys crisp..

  14. Just leafed through the free copy of the Beano that came free in a newspaper today. Apart from being far more believable than the paper in which it arrived the words "fart" and "bum" seem to have crept in since I last purchased a copy ...which was when adverts started appearing in it. Harumph etc.....

I'm so glad I'm on shiftwork! I go through there twice a day but only during the quiet periods. The odd times I go through at 0830, I have to allow about 60 mins to do a 12 mile journey...Once this lot's done, Hutbers Law will apply....

  16. loose JLTRT class 24 windscreen now replaced..with the obligatory annoying unavoidable visible blob of glue...hmph.

    1. Mallard60022

      Mallard60022

have you tried varnish to attach windows or the stuff that aero modellers use for their cockpit canopy.

    2. Jon Fitness

      Jon Fitness

I've tried canopy glue in the past but it's basically PVA and lets go too easily. Varnish...not tried. Being honest, the window that dropped out was my fault. Clumsy fitting of a windscreen wiper. All sorted now.

  17. Stuck at work watching a deep dig and relay on plat 7. Don't think they're down to the baseboard yet....
