  1. Just bought a secondhand LNER version for a nice price , for a bit of variation mine had a derailing rear bogie . Simple cure of moving wheels out to correct spacing. Front bogie is staying on but looks awful sawing backwards and forwards . Will have a look at modifying as above post. On the plus point what a superb looker !!
  2. Looking good , is their any reason for hand lettering ? I have added a Alexander chassis to my Geo Norton G5 and I finally have a G5 that works !!! It needed some minor cutting to fit otherwise a dead easy build in OO. I used to have a Nu cast version as well that never worked either !!
  3. Rails are doing Tudor Minstrel for £84.50 for ONE day only . Subscribe to their newsletter for details
  4. You will also need to paint the Buffers Black and move the Shed allocation to the bottom of the buffer beam and use smaller Class Lettering (HMRS) at least there are some good photos in this condition !!:blink::lol:
  5. Silver Jubilee Set ready for lining Bachmann Tank wagons weathered two centre wagons have been relettered using Robbie Burns Decals Mick
  6. Same question/comment again . If you paint the model as shown it will look like it is pebbledashed. The model must be perfectly clean . I would clean the paint off with Nitromors paint stripper or similar. Resin is quite tolerant of paint stripper used carefully. If you spray a light coat of primer it will show all the imperfections. Fill these with Green Putty or similar re prime and then add a top coat colour preferably sprayed. Halfords do many colours there maybe a Green for your loco . 100 times better finish than brush painting. Re Clack Valves. Brassmasters do nice Brass turnings for the main part
  7. The seam runs directly above the sandbox fillers and can be seen above them in the photos especailly to the left side of the boiler ( pic 2 above ) . Sadly the seam is very obvious on the models I have seen. It would be a nightmare to remove. I cannot understand why it has been made that way either. If the other versions have different domes/ regulator rodding why put a seam there ?? lastly why make it pronouced as well ? Bizarre:blink: P.S Lovely loco well done
  8. At £41 he hasnt done bad :blink:
  9. Have you primed the kit before painting. Resin needs to be cleaned before priming to ensure good paint adhesion. Resin moulding uses a release agentwhcih can cause "fish eye" effect is not cleaned correctly. I use Jif and Washing up liquid others use turps .
  10. Precision Doncaster Apple Green and Garter Blue for the 3rd Class. I had them in stock and thats near enough for me By the time curtains are added to the windows they will be almost invisible. !! cheers
  11. Sounds good , however that will not get the Tender and Cartazzi Truck steps to then be inline ?? they are out of line on both the A1 and A2. I have seen a picture of the new A2 and Hornby's L1 front to front and the front buffers on both are dead inline. This therefore suggests to me the tender is the culprit. I wonder if the tender buffers line up with other stock or are higher?. I dont own a A1 or A2 (wrong period for me) so cannot check.
  12. Has anyone checked the tender heights on the A1/A2 as both loco cabs are lower than the tender ? In the MR review the photos make the difference in step heights even more noticeable. MR does even mention the difference in heights or the pronouced seam along the boiler sides. I does say that two types of boilers are being made but why the seam? Perhaps its not the locos at fault but the tender ?
  13. Looks more like a hard doneby Tiger tank than a loco
  14. 7mm !! I dread to think !!! these have cost enough in 4mm
  15. Triplet ready for painting 1st Class both sides of the Coach are the same other than door position (both doors at the same end) as is the 3rd Class Coach 3rd Class Kitchen Mick
  16. Different wheel size is a major difference etc
  17. TMC have a couple of name conversions on ebay sadly neither listing has a picture of the cab/tender area . I have just looked at the excellent conversions photos above. The rear cartazzi truck is derailed which may explain the drunken cab area !!
  18. Havent seen the BR version are we refering to the Black or Green version ? If its Green the LNER Yellow sheet has the bufferbeam nos . Remove the number(s) with T cut and a wood cocktail stick leaves a perfect finish for a new decal
  19. Had another look at the Modelzone example it appears to be a prominent seam moulding that is proud of the boiler , very strange and very hard to get rid off
  20. Progress with the theSilver Jubilee Triplet Set Underframes and interiors are finished other glazing the partions. Blue is 1st class Green 3rd Class Sides and ends ready for cleaning . The solder is very thin coating and should clean up easily with a Glass fibre Brush. Ist at the top, then Kitchen Car lastly is the 3rd car Other projects done this month Another Townstreet Signal Box for Helensdale. This replaces a very old Ratio Signal Box shown in previous pictures I have detailed another J72 to go with 2313 (which has split its drive axle in picture new parts are awaited from Bachmann , a bit expensive £2 for the set ! !)
  21. I have seen one in the "flesh" today in Modelzone Lakeside. Looks very nice , the lining is much finer including the wheel bosses . The bufferbeam lettering is also much smaller . The handrails are Black which I dont think is correct ??? Also there was the new version of Tornado and the L1 both also excellent . Mick
  22. On the whole looks very nice in the TMC pictures. However some very minor details are wrong AH Peppercorn in LNER Livery should have, as in the photographs I have :- Black Buffer housings RA9 on cab ? this is BR surely? . EDIT . Just found another picture and RA9 is correct well done Bachmann Shed allocation on bufferbeam should be a the bottom of Bufferbeam as per LNER practise , it also appears very large too as does A2 thereon too ? Lining is still not upto Hornby A1/A3 standards especially the cartwheel size lining on the wheel bosses Handrails in pictures appear to be Black , they appear to be Green in my photos? BUT I am not complaining all these "defects" are easily sorted :D I have a DJH 525 already a 526 Sugar Palm will look good
  23. RCTS Volume has a picture of 9002 in LNER Livery with red buffers ,as were 9001 and 9003 all in Yellow Gills Sans livery. 9000 had shaded livery.
  24. Yep I can supply numbers if you need them :lol::lol:
