  1. This has been inspired by Graeme Kings conversion of Bachmanns A2 to a Thompson A2/3. I have used his thread as an inspiration for this conversion on my Bachmann A2 to A2/2 Wolf of Badenoch using a Hornby A4 Cab area and Tender and Graemes front end resin parts. His thread is here http://www.lner.info...-t2443s825.html A4 Cab fitted into the A2 boiler and metal removed from the A2 chassis to allow it to fit. I have removed the washout plugs and mudholes as they appear much to big and or wrong shape. The Wolf needs three mudholes on both sides and the washout plugs are in a slightly different position as well. Reversing cover removed and smoothed flat. Cab to be blended into the boiler next. I decided to do the cab area first before anything mechanical to ensure all is flat and square on the original body mountings.
  2. No idea of allocation but it has to be WEST HAM UNITED for me
  3. Larry No info on BR days as not my period . Harris book Gresley Coaches lists some as branded inc above number in 1934 . cheers
  4. Dia 27a completed and with its sister Hornby conversions
  5. Other side done . A few pictures of how I "Teak" my coaches dragging he brush through the colours.
  6. Larry Yes with 1st Rest and the Kitchen Car , no idea if correct to the prototype but they should look good together
  7. More progress on the Dia 27A 3rd. Roof Water Filler details have now been confirmed and are simply pipes on the ends only so will be added at the end of the build.

For £30 he could have bought the Loco body and tender tooo
  9. I have a Nu Cast A2/1 Duke of Rothsay with a 6 wheel tender. No problems with traction she weighs a ton . Shame re the B17 the joys of kitbuilds !!
  10. This is excellent http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2016667/Colour-pictures-revealed-London-blitz Spitfire rules
  11. More gentle proding has revealed the body is a simple push fit onto the chassis.
  12. From what I have seen he is correct. They dont cover the V Cab roof LNER version only the BR later reboiler versions.
  13. Same question from me too re ends. I now have one , has anyone figured out how to get one apart to make it much easier to paint the ends Black , if that is the correct colour ????
  14. Well there not many Banjo Dome version left to do as it was only the last built that had them. Columbo, Winsor Lad, Sandwich and Cameronian too go . One big problem is they all used the Non Corridor Tender do I really want to find and repaint another three If damaged NRM's and the right tenders appear on ebay at a good price ????????????????????? Anyway I now need to find a Apple GreenBachmann A2 (body damaged will be OK) for a future conversion to a Thompson A2/2 . Anyone got a spare please
  15. Which kit is Mons Meg from please. A lovely looking loco
  16. Useful link http://www.lner.info/stock/index.shtml
  17. Latest NRM rescue , usual busted / missing bits plus lots of superglue used on broken smoked deflectors to re attach to the Smokebox which I managed to remove with acetone. The wheels have been replaced as the Eccentric Crank on one sidewas held in place by a nail !! as the screw thread had been stripped. Hyperion now has a correct repainted BR Non Corridor Tender. My collection of ex NRM A3's from Left to right 2508 Brown Jack, 2507 Singapore, 2506 Salmon Trout, 2503 Firduassi and 2502 Hyperion All have the correct Tender fitted a mixture of Corridor , Non Corridor and ex GNR Versions. Current build a Dia 27A 3rd Resteraunt Car which I am trying to confirm roof detail on at the moment

    and a new Tender
  19. Use the MJT Artic etched parts for a conversion. I used them on my Jubilee set , easy to build and works first time. The Kirk version is very poor , my tourist set wont go around any sort of curves due to non existent space between the coaches.
  20. Rails are listing LNER at £35 BR at £30 , cant be bad
  21. You cant beat a nice Thomo Pacific
  22. I paint area to be rivetted with Archers rivets white. This makes it very easy for lining up etc. Then overpaint with correct colour.
  23. I agree this is a bit muddled. Re the Hornby version Is the underframe correct ? and should the GWR version have Black ends? I have seen them in Modelzone not cheap but a superb moulding. Well done Hornby
