  1. A LNER Service/Yard only van using a D&S NER van. I have never seen one modelled before. Based on a picture in Tatlows LNER Wagon book. The book says Green livery but no mention of a shade. Old ABS rebuild with Mainly Trains Brake etch and D&S Brake Yokes fitted Next up a LNER REstaurant 3rd using MJT sides (just ordered) and a donor Hornby Coach

  5. Latest Ebay Hornby A3 rescue. This was a damaged BR Green St Gatien. Replacement Valve Gear, Cab Doors and Ashpan Lever and a new paint scheme resulted in Cicero . On shed with Sir Isaac Newton amongst others
  6. I understand Tony Wright from BRM is ill at the moment, (on Model Railway Express, get well soon Tony )he would love to be taking photos as well. I look forward to any issue with pictures .Looks excellent.
  7. Have a look in the crater !! Fantastic pictures especially the Spitfire.
  8. I can only speak re Hornbys LNER Locos the following falls off all them I have without the slightest provocation :- Cab Doors, Cab Clear Plastic Wind Defectors, Reversing Levers and Ash Pan Levers and Anti Vacumn Pipes. They are all so flimsy or so poorly fitted/located on to the bodies they are a bit of a joke . Lastly Plastic Lamp Irons!! beyond belief why not are they not made in metal ? No doubt they are true scale but useless if they will not hold a Lamp without falling off !! Hornby should supply all of these parts they are not upto the job and therefore should be readily available, for the trade tiny cost of the above parts they should be extra included in the box with the loco. Profit should not be a consideration its called Customer Service. Hornby are now asking well over £100 for detailed Locos and have a liablity to their customers. I personally would not pay such amounts for one Loco when I know the slightest accident will ruin the Loco with no obvious way of repairing my investment. I fail to understand why is it is easy to obtain any part for the chassis and below the footplate but not for the body. I rely on E bay producing spares for my locos or scratchbuild the parts needed otherwise I dont think I would own any of the current Hornbys offerings ? !! Well done re the repair to Tornado above. You would have found painting easier if the Red had been done before adding the buffers. The white lining can be done using the HMRS LNER Lining Sheet
  9. I have no luck getting ANY body parts from Hornby for any of my steam locos. I got a email response blanking the request. Simon Kohler was interviewed re this amongst other Hornby related questions. He replied "you can get parts". Another email to Hornby response " we will have a look" a year later still no reply . I think it is very poor service from Hornby. I am not surpised with the response re Tornado and I have given up and make my own or adapt other parts/scratchbuild. Luckily when it comes to the chassis the parts can be obtained so easily WHY THE DIFFERENCE ???
  10. 52F Models have just released a A5/2 looks very good http://52fmodels.web.officelive.com/Newsletter.aspx
  11. If you have the pieces you should be able to glue it back together again with a drop of filler . You probably know Bachmann or ebay will sell new buffers.
  12. More scenic work done J72 shunts the Coal Stage L1 in the new Coach siding to the rear of the Coal Stage New Enginnering sidings
  13. Prefer the Hornby version BUT why on earth have they used moulded handrails totally naff . Virtually impossible to change to seperate items without a repaint Good review well done
  14. Black Wartime LNER Coaches news to me , the price is even more unbeleivable for old Hornbys sprayed Black and added bizarre lettering . The last lot went for over £70 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300571653435&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  15. Since my last post I have attacked my layout Helensdale changing the track layout and adding a Coal Drop based loosely on North Blyth and extended the Engine Shed to four roads, as below. Scenic work to now be done to the area in front of the Shed
  16. White Spirit will remove Bachmann Lettering/ Lining
  17. I presume excess metal on the edge ? I use needle files and a sharp swan morton blade if that is the problem? What perio are you modellling?
  18. Re Chimney try a gentle tap from inside the smokebox if you can get to the inside. My NRM conversions of the A3 were sorted without drama in this way. One even survived for further use if needed !. Nice repaint well done
