  1. After those rushed photos I've taken a few in more realistic settings. Luke I need to get on and finish the missing building...
  2. Attached below. It really exists! Luke
  3. Pics taken just now! It's real! Just call Janes! Luke , , , ,
  4. Hi guys, Thanks for the info. So if I'm going to keep the AWS box I need to drill two small holes in the side of my new model... Now where are my drill bits... Luke
  5. Hi Guys, Picked mine up from Jane's of Tooting this afternoon (Tue 13/10/15). Late crest and it arrived just before I did. They had unpacked and priced them but not got them on to the shelves yet. Lovely loco, smooth runner. Tender is a little resistant to move from the all-wheel pick-ups. My one had a lot of lubricating oil on left side of the chassis which wiped away easily. Getting the tender top off to fit the DCC decoder is a struggle. First you need to undo the truck retaining screws to get to the body retaining screws which in my case were very reluctant to move. Came loose in the end but with a bent bunker lamp iron. After about 20 mins of testing and then DCC fitting mine was being very temperamental. The excess of oil had allowed one of the hex valve gear screws to come loose and thus the fly crank (?) had slipped and was no longer in sync with the rotation of the wheels. Gentle coaxing and then tightening the hex screw and all is behaving normally. Oddly the cab side has two small circles printed at the bottom. The photo on the box sleeve shows these as holes, which matches some prototype photos I've seen. Not sue if all S15's had the holes or from when they were fitted. I'll probable drill mine out when I renumber it (or find one that doesn't need them) Nice model, pleased with my purchase. Luke
  6. Order placed, weathered! I remember seeing 74's at Clapham Junction on my way to and from school. The 71's I only saw on my way to stay at my grand parents in Deal. Luke
  7. Not plugged in upside down, they have put the lighting pcb in upside down. Gentle push and flip it over and push back. Much better!Luke
  8. Please Sir, can we have it in 4mm too? Luke
  9. <Snip>but if they follow it up with a "de-Crostied Crosti" later on, I shall not resist.<snip> I am in the same state. Many moons a go I purchased a glorious b/w framed photo of a rebuilt Crosti, so that's what I'm waiting for... Luke
  10. So, in conclusion, the following "should" be correct? < // // / / // -- or -- \\ \ \ \\ \\ > (Unless the is a better clear photo... as per the Bachmann pic!) Luke, waiting to start work on Zealous
  11. Is it possible to have a preserved loco if they haven't finished building it yet? Luke
  12. The running number is the preserved one, 488. Sorry if I was misleading! Luke
  13. Because what was on display were livery samples. The weren't using the most current tooling but rejected samples to get the liver renditions correct. There was: one in BR late crest in a sample packaging insert one in LSWR green "55" one in BR early crest one tooling sample of a modification (plastic talks, dicast boiler) And one hidden behind the counter on a in-development running chassis. The space for the decoder (8-pin) is in the bunker. The normal batches are expected "to arrive towards the end of the year" Didn't get to earwig anything else! Luke
  14. From what I could deduce, it's a limited edition of 55 because it will be 55 years since the 488 was withdrawn from service. It's expected to be available 2016 Q1 and can only be purchased from the Bluebell Railway shop. As of about 16:30 today they already had taken reservations for 23 (I think). Not sure of the price (the normal runs at £99) but it will include a significant donation for work on 488. Luke
  15. That would be enough for a full squadron service to Penzance! Oh to have had the APT-E on the Devon banks! Wonderful idea! Luke
  16. The way I have (over)heard it is: a) that Shildon said "Yes" to one manufacturer and York said "Yes" to another. b)The one we knew about first was scanned first and the one we found-out about second was scanned second. I also believe that there have been some "letters" going back and forth which may be preventing information being disclosed. Others reading this may know more than I do. If and when we can be told more I'm sure we will be. Maybe be like government papers it will be closed for 30years? Luke
  17. Put a half luggage rack on the top of it and a full luggage rack on the other side (i.e. Mk4's, refurb Mk3's). Shouldn't be difficult to hide it Luke
  18. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/92766-news-from-warley-2014/?p=1672222 Luke
  19. At Warley last year there was a large poster on the Heljan stand. Definitely announced! Definitely by Heljan! Luke
  20. There is a way round this. We've crowd sourced the 71 so why don't we crowd source a repaint for E 5001? It looks like it could do with a repaint already... Luke
  21. Ah.. painted in Great Western Pannier Grime # 1 Luke
  22. Long time subscriber! Will do. I was just puzzled by Pat's comment. Luke
  23. So do we think the 2015 model has the "original" 2013 body or the "original" 1990 or a "new" 2015 body? Oddly the smoke box door dart seems to be moulded rather than free standing. I wasn't aware that was going to happen. Even the 2013 body had one of the handles separate. Luke
