  1. One was posted the last time someone claimed it was wrong. Mogul thread maybe?
  2. That's a Lionheart photo of the decorated sample thats been around for some time. Ellis Clark and Rails have photos they have taken but one has portholes one doesn't. Anyway at least the correct ones exist! Edit: Ellis Clarks one seems to be the outlier now others are getting photos up. They have done quite a few variations with two different cab roof gutter types, footplate with and without the packing piece, the older and newer sandboxes and both types of safety valves. Bit of care needed when selecting!
  3. Rails photos are up now and the numbered version of lined green late crest is correct with no portholes. Not sure what happened to the ones Ellis Clark has shown. Looks like they come with an ATC shoe which is a nice touch.
  4. Given manifactuerers have stated coaches have to sell in far greater numbers to cover costs, given the tooling isnt much less than a loco, I suspect for the total cost to the manufactuer of doing a 4 car unit, they would make a far bigger margin by tooling 2 or 3 locos instead. So its not so much whether a 4 car would sell, its why would a manufacturer do it when they could make more from their capital doing other things.
  5. They wont lose their investment either.
  6. thanks Paul. I wasn't in any way suggesting they've done anything wrong, just clarifying if class B were always black or if they were also silver earlier on, which you've answered. As to size, yes I just meant I wonder how the larger of the new Dapol anchor mount compares to the air ministry. There is one way to find out!
  7. is this 1:43? Not come across that name before and getting nothing on searches? edit: I think he did a rather nice EM model of Wellington Ive come across in a mag but the only lorries I can find are the 1/50 Promod
  8. That is quite a contrast - be interesting to see how the larger version compares. Re liveries, were type As generally silver and type Bs black from introduction c1950, or have Dapol just done the type As in early liveries and type Bs as they were later on?
  9. Don't suppose you could bring that to bear on the highest part of the offending firebox?
  10. In Ellis Clark's photos, the BR green late crest un-numbered (sold out) has plated portholes and a short later safety valve, as you would expect for that period but the numbered equivalent 4564 has portholes and the early taller valve. Not sure if that's how they were meant to be as the decorated samples weren't like that and nor was the artwork (or the prototype). https://www.ellisclarktrains.co.uk/products/lionheart-trains-lht-s-4508-class-45xx-2-6-2-br-late-crest-lined-green-4564#6754913943670-1
  11. True. These are the two most comparable angles I have seen. Accura top, Dapol bottom
  12. in fairness, and this is where forums are arguably a bit flawed, there is such a massive range of standards, knowledge and approaches to modelling - all equally valid given it is just a passtime - that we are never all going to agree. One owner of a layout thread ive always really liked bought a much criticised loco. I said doesnt the flat front bother you and he freely admitted he didnt really know what the real thing looked like: He just liked models in their own right. I do find it slightly odd when people get defensive and try to claim there is nothing wrong with something (different to saying they are happy with it) but lets face it, if we can be so far apart on how to run the country, a model loco is hardly going to be universally viewed!
  13. If you click on the photo, the caption says Preston, April 68 (and the next photo has the station sign showing)
  14. I wondered but checked it on your website!
  15. Just came across this photo. BSK with original windows and b4 bogies.
  16. if you are ballasting they look the same but thinner sleepers need less.
  17. Precision do desert sand. No idea of it matches Heljan.
  18. thank you, thats helpful. I did actually approach them/mm1 for a spare but they didnt have any left.
  19. My understanding is that in certain parts, if you are naughty, santa just leaves you a lump of coal instead of presents. You might want to slip this into the conversation next time you need to model a load.
  20. Given me an idea for the ultimate shoebox cameo layout. An air vent over a tunnel with a little wispy smoke unit and some muffled sounds.
  21. Just outside Alresford during the recent steam ban.
