  1. All 'B's today from different parts of the country. Some working, some not and some preserved: Bardon Mill, NER Newcastle to Carlisle line, 19 Sept 1995. Dating from 1874 and Grade 2 listed. Barmouth South, Cambrian Railways, 4 June 1993 Blythe Bridge, Caverswall Road, Foxfield Railway. North Staffordshire Railway formerly at Hockley Crossing in Uttoxeter I believe. 20 Dec 1992 30 May 1993 and 8 May 1995 Bronwydd Arms on the preserved Gwili Railway which is part of the Great Western's Carmarthen to Aberystwyth line. First on 24 June 1992 then on 12 July 1995 with some decorative horticulture in evidence. I wonder what it's like now? Brundall, Great Eastern Railway between Norwich and Yarmouth, 28 June 1994
  2. Two Great Eastern ones today: Acle, 29 June 1994 and Cantley, 28 June 1994
  3. Not quite the only one Bill. Here's a not very good photo of D7538 on the Friargate side of Mickleover Tunnel on a frosty 28 December 1965. On the last day of passenger trains east of Friargate, I saw a Brush Type 4 (Class 47) crossing Bennerley Viaduct on a holiday train heading for Derby. If you include DMUs, in 1963 there were two Sundays when the three morning trains from Derby to Crewe ran from Friargate. As a bonus, the train I went on also did the Potteries Loop line from Etruria to Kidsgrove
  4. Sudbury, North Staffordshire Railway, 14 Oct 2009. If I could make a note for the indexers, the Sudbury 'box shown in Grosvenor's photo on Page 28 is this one on the North Staffordshire Railway in Staffordshire, it is not the Sudbury in Suffolk in Great Eastern Land. Could be taken as a hint for posters to try and give a bit more information, if known, when posting. Carrog on the GWR Ruabon to Barmouth line, now the Llangollen Railway. Not sure whether it is original or new build. Further along the same line towards Barmouth is Llanuwchllyn, now home to the Bala Lake Railway, seen on 13 Aug 1991 This 'box labelled 'Pwhelli West Frame' at the Cambrian Railways terminus, had seen better days, seen on 9 Sept 1991
  5. Two more Midland 'boxes today which were shown a bit more sympathy when the double glazing was installed. Both seen on 24 Aug 2008: Ashwell in Rutland and the adjacent 'box at Whissendine, just over the border in Leicestershire.
  6. Live and learn Phil, It is indeed my picture. All but one of the pictures I have so far posted on this thread are my own, that one was duly credited to the original photographer. I think this one was scanned from a slide which is why it looks a bit 'soft'.
  7. Abbotswood Junction, Midland Rly, 28 Feb 1969 Daisyfield Junction, Blackburn, L&YR, 5 July 1991 Dinnington Colliery, South Yorkshire Joint Railway (GC, GN, L&YM Mid and NE Jt), 22 Sept 1991
  8. Some ideas for you DM 297733 with additional diagonal bracing, seen at Warrington in 1979. Painted grey. Plus two with duckets which may help you, both painted grey: DM281829, seen at Stoke in 1979 DM284838 at Rugby repair shop, 4 Mar 1980
  9. That certainly was an active steam loco to the left. That's the was it was for a while in the 1960s.
  10. Just beat me to it. Arley, Severn Valley Railway, 20 Aug 1991 Beckingham, between Gainsborough and Doncaster, on the GN and GE Joint line, 26 Nov 1991. Blea Moor, of LMS design I believe, 5 July 1991 and Croxley, on the Metropolitan Railway Watford Branch. Seen on 18 June 1969. Thanks go to Wickham Green too for providing the correct location info.
  11. Two Midland 'boxes: Barrow Hill North, 25 June 1981 and Barrow Hill Junction on the same day Valehouse on the Great Central's Woodhead line, 9 July 1981 complete with tea stain! and Woodhead on the same day
  12. The tender attached to 43435 was not a Fowler tender at all. It was a one-off modified Johnson tender of 3250 gallon capacity transferred from withdrawn 4-4-0 No.393. It had extended sides rather than coal rails. AFAIK no 3F was fitted with a Fowler tender.
  13. The 'box would appear to be out of use, looking at the number of broken windows visible in the first photo, and the removal of the name boards. As mentioned, I have other photos still to scan, they are from 1987 when the 'box was still in use but no fires escape at the west end.
  14. I can't think of any use for mine . I've got some coaches which have been repainted into LMS red or SDJR blue, I've changed their bogies for RTR Airfix/Dapol LMS bogies (robbed off coaches bought for a fiver apiece at swapmeets) to get the correct ride height. I've also used those bogies on kit-built Ratio coaches where the originals were life expired. That suits me for 'layout' coaches.
  15. Some LNWR boxes today Rhyl No.2, 31 July 1991 and 6 Aug 1991 with Bahamas in the foreground. There's more of this to come some time when they are scanned. Harlescott Crossing, Shrewsbury, 25 June 1991 Cheadle Hulme, 7 Aug 1991 and Llanrwst, 12 Sept 1991
  16. D87 seen at Derby 29 April 1962. No doubt somebody can tell us what the train was.
  17. These photos have come to the top of the pile. A rather sorry-looking Etwall signal box seen on 19 September 1986
  18. Some on the North Staffordshire Longport Junction, 26 June 1991 Foley Crossing, 5 July 1991 and Caverswall, 6 August 1991
  19. The preserved, or new build(?) box at Alston, 3 June 1991 Not one of my photos but by Ramrig of this Parish and posted with his permission. Alrewas, 4 April 2012
