  1. All well and good - yes definitely some valid scrutiny by prototypically clued up professional Duff enthusiasts which this is their ""bag" but some really not so - in as much as being that insignificant it borders on obsessive rivetty pettiness. I'm trawling over the same old ground again! and yes if media platforms like this didn't exist and it was good old snail mail and stamps things wouldn't get highlighted and a half decent model wouldn't be produced - but I really wish this thread could be filtered out summarized and passed on to Heljan for the things that really do matter leaving individuals to glue on 0.002" strips of Evergreen on lamp brackets or here there and wherever they want.
  2. Slow. The loss of Transport Models closing for good and the backup of no exhibitions for sourcing materials isn’t helping. I have to make do with scraps from the bitsbox. Ironically might have a look at it today with a few changes in mind. Cheers. Ian.
  3. Alex - I was going to give my yearly Boxenby *Bump* a miss for fear of ad nauseam. You beat me to it - no rush and all the best. Ian
  4. I think the list of Music Industry types has softened the perception - we all know who these are but to my missus Jools Holland came as quite a surprise - she likes the You Tube clip of Pete getting stuck in to his layout with his mates round doing a bit of ballasting like an ordinary old bloke - excellent and worth a view. Ian
  5. Good and a funnily prickly subject. I think my missus sees the technical side of it all from here on RM Web - she realises that away from the nerdishness there is quite a bit of real talent and expertise not to mention the fact that the "hobby" is an industry in itself. Sold a few Micro Layouts years back which helped pay for a few decent holidays one of which was (conveniently) near Pecorama Devon where the gardens are exceptional. She didn't get the "trainspotting" side of things at all although explaining Bashing still doesn't go in - not even the camaraderie and adventure of being stuck on Todmorden in the drizzle at 4am The only problem is the Preservation side of it at well known venues in the North West and South West of England when copious amounts of beer is involved Ian
  6. Yes - a great example of a backscene doing the work.
  7. Images like this really do set this thread apart - But we have to be subtle how to put it to avoid potential upset
  8. 27029 Collects the Plough - In preparation for another harsh 80's Scottish Winter?
  9. Another harsh 80's Scottish Winter? 27029 collects the Snowplough
  10. I hope George gets the drive at Ab Dab but maybe Merc won't because they're crapping themselves that he did too good a job. In the unlikely event that he does (and what is the reason he doesn't) it will be really interesting to see if his wheels fall off again. Surely not.
  11. Oh yes please. This would be interesting.
  12. Here you go True enthusiast. Lol. Rallying was more my bag - clubman nav in a Pinto Mk 2 Escort. Bit of Karting with my lad (yes it’s not exactly F1) But spannering Formula Ford in '88 shared a paddock with the great man at Mallory. Long story had a good lifechanging chat. His son had talent too glad they are both still with us.
  13. All well and good to see a young Brit with potential in a decent machine. Might wake a few up break the Monopoly and return some to the sport. Meanwhile I’ll still go along with Mr Stewarts opinion that the Merc is a piece of p*ss to handle.
  14. The Gazette I read and quoted is on online PDF format freely searchable that also comes out as a booklet format available in local retail outlets around Purbeck. January’s edition might make interesting reading.
  15. Can I just add that the above OP quotations mentioned are definitely not my viewpoints!!! Just a reminder like.
  16. Switched off years ago like a lot of others. Obviously got talent but seems odd that he did so well though in an unfamiliar machine.
  17. Russell not exactly a F1 "name" (had to Wiki him) topped practice (I believe) twice - missed on pole by a Gnats must be the car - piece of p*ss for Mr H.
  18. Smell a rodent - anyone still going to be watching? - maybe the GOAT is the machinery?
  19. Seems a bit of a loon. I'm all for him cleaning up the beaches though - good effort.
  20. Yes - I'm partial to the odd bike ride or two when I get the chance - good for the mental well being in these stressful times. But it's all about the persecution complex again that seems so prevalent in a lot of society today. Extremism even within cycling.
