  1. Sloppy writing for a supposedly professional company!
  2. Well all I hope for is that I can use my modellers license as I have no use for one, yet I'm definitely having one!

    Hornby P2

well my experience of Caprotti valve gear is LOUD!
  4. Can you not run the two powered units together? its a myth than DCC is needed for this as it can be done most satisfactory on DC.
  5. Mine runs on romfords and is a lovely runner. Original Hornby chassis
  6. They've also spelt Sentinel two different ways on the paperwork that comes with that model. Sentinal and Sentinel.
  7. Just been told by my supplier that they've had a very large box from Hornby arrive today and along with other stuff is 71000 and Sentinels By supplier I mean the 47401 Project shop at Swanwick Junction.

The loco's bark more than makes up for it though
  10. Interesting how that chunk of bodyside attached to the cab has somehow "blown off"
  11. I got one off ebay with the intention of repainting and detailing. It arrived in a rather more mint condition than described and I can't bring myself that so its running around the club layout in original condition. It runs forever and joins one of the many old bits of stock on the club layout (Dublo Castle, Coronation, 8F's. Triang L1, Brittania, 2 x Blue Pullmans)
  12. Anyone had any gear mesh problems with their railbus? Mines ran ok for nearly a year but during a wheel cleaning session the other week I noticed one axle was only intermittently driving. The other isn't brilliant so its currently sat in bits in its box. After investigation it seams that the two halves of chassis that sandwiches the motor wasn't fully down. Having nipped up the screws, all this has done is strip the thread therefor the self tappers do nothing resulting in the motor having enough movement to stop drive to the axles. Once I've found enough bigger self tappers I'll have ago a reassembling to see if its repairable. I'm not looking forward to refitting all the electrics......
  13. Ironically they've pictured D182 outside the Matthew Kirtley Building at Swanwick Junction for their class 45 picture when the loco is in fact a class 46

    Dapol 'Western'

In the end after complaining to the ebay shop that even this one didn't run properly, they offered a partial refund which has paid for the wheelsets and a couple of other bits.

Finally managed to get a working D1056 the other day. This one runs but suffers from a noisy drive train and it bobs up and down and wobbles all over the shop. Instead of paying the return postage yet again I've just bitten the bullet and purchased replacement wheels for it from DCC supplies. Fingers crossed it should cure it and the new ones won't be eccentric to the axle too. Its getting a sound chip so I'd like it to be top notch!

    Heljan Class 16

I've bought two. Whilst the fitted buffer beam detail is nice, I've had to take it off to be of any use. In some ways I'd wish they would leave this off for the purchaser to fit. One of mine had the detail push fitted and the other seamed to be glued. On one the head code discs push fitted with a positive fit and on the other they were loose. Painting the inside of the cab desk black and just leaving the little driving console in the corner cream doe a world of difference. One runs fine straight out of the box and the other seams to be lacking electrical pickup somewhere. Most likely either dirt, their white lubricant or badly adjusted pickups. Need to investigate this one on our next club night.

  19. Nice loco's but I'm a bit puzzled by the blue head code box example that also seems to have disks
  20. Should the tanks have screw links or instanters?
  21. The Thomas copyright holders don't know the difference either. I was on the troublesome truck rake making them "run away" and one of the inspectors though the LMS 20t brake van was Toby the tram and even wrote in her report that it was Toby but was producing too much smoke out of its chimney (the stove)
  22. Look how much somebody has just paid for Bachmann Pannier! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-OO-gauge-GWR-57XX-Pannier-Tank-32-213DC-/321099719012?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4ac308e164&autorefresh=true
  23. Picking mine up on Saturday from 47401 project. £79
  24. I don't know if the prototype had a plated body but the model you have has a wooden planked body. Still looks good though. One thing I would do is tone down the underframe slightly with a bit of darker brown/black.
