  1. That shouldn't bother Oxford, they would probably run a few off in 1920's PO liveries.
  2. Another vote for using gunmetal Metalcote here. I've used on a few pieces of stock and it does work well.
  3. I'd say so. Certainly the only one this year I've actually wanted to watch and not wandered off doing other things. Not the result I was hoping for, but lots of good action, overtakes, unexpected surprises and some very solid drives. Well done Max and Kimi!
  4. The colours on the woodwork are actually quite a good representation of light and dark stone. The chocolate and cream Chris used is only suitable for later BR periods.
  5. It has already been mentioned somewhere, if not on this thread, then maybe on the 6 wheeler thread.
  6. This particular one has the same problem as my 1st loco, with complete lack of QA on the tender pickups. On the left, the front pickups actually touch the wheels. the rear pickups however are flush with the tender chassis and nowhere near the wheels! Yes, it's an easy fix, but I shouldn't have be to being that. It's very shoddy work on behalf of OR. I decided to try the loco on the track again after taking the pick and to my surprise it starting moving! It did 3/4 of a lap and promptly stopped dead again. Think it might be a loose connection, I gave it a few sharp taps until it started moving again. It did several laps so I stopped it and reversed direction. Dead again! I could probably fix it, but again, why should I have to? I don't buy a new car and then spend a day tinkering with the engine just to try and get it to run. If I fix it OR are getting away with fobbing off below par quality products on the market and Rails don't know about how many of the OR locos are duff. So returns #2 is on it's way.
  7. I voted originally as <£50, in reality if the product were good enough I would probably pay up to £60. £70+ and I would be either not be buying any or reducing the number of units bought to meet budget. My budget certainly won't stretch to 14 units @ £70 each, or even £750 of stock, so this would be of no interest to me. I think you may have taken the sh*t stirring in the other thread a little too much to heart. The original poll was good and has provided usable data, some people just can't do the analysis.
  8. My replacement DG arrived from Rails today, placed it on the track. DOA. Didn't even attempt to turn a wheel! Just to make sure everything was ok with the test track, my Mainline DG took several faultless laps of the track. Applying for returns #2, now need to decided if can be bothered to see if it will be 3rd time lucky or bin off Oxford as waste of time.
  9. I was wondering about that when watching the qualifying, from the aerial shots it did look like a vast expanse of nothingness and was thinking it must take some hard concentration just to judge where the actual corners were in amongst the maze of different routes they can set as a circuit layout there.
  10. Why would the topfeed be an issue to Bachmann? That never stopped them releasing the 57/87xx with it's topfeed in Great Western livery. They don't care i'ts not accurate for the livery period and will no doubt get round to it when they think they can sell them.
  11. I wish Ebay would follow suit, I'm sick to death of being given results from the USA by default instead of just the UK. I don't want to pay extortionate shipping and customs charges, thank you ebay. </OT off>
  12. Already have, only I didn't give them any hold music. They had to listen to the kettle boiling, the coffee cup being stirred and then just for good measure I took the phone to the loo for a #2. The plucky lady was still hanging on the end of the line when I finished!
  13. I'm also playing Sniper Elite 4. Got all the DLC when it was on sale on Steam at Christmas. Replaying the missions with different weapons, playing different styles (stealthy vs guns blazing etc) is giving a lot of VFM. Also the multi-player co-op is good.

    GDPR (Hornby)

I'm well aware that GDPR is an EU wide piece of legislation, thanks. However, the ICO's jurisdiction is limited to the UK... 1. Who owns the email account you received the message at? An individual (including sole traders and partnerships, except partnerships with limited liability and those based in Scotland) Change this answer 2. Do you know who sent the message? Yes Change this answer 3. Is the sender based in the UK? No Change this answer Outside the UKThe ICO's authority only covers organisations based in the UK. If the sender is based in another country in the European Union, that country’s data protection authority may be able to help you further. See the Europa website for contact details of the other data protection authorities.
  15. I found the exact same thing when cleaning the tender wheels! This was the point I also discovered the rear pickup wipers not being bent out to touch the wheels.
  16. Hi Ray, thanks for checking your one. I too took advantage of the Rails offer, but am now thinking this thing will have to go back. It was very obvious on this example that there was a problem. After a couple of hours of running in, the outer pair of wheels had the blackening worn off the rim. The centre drivers were untouched, no wear at all. Low speed running is still rubbish and I think the cause for this is the amount of drag on the tender wheels. You can see the loco drivers slipping as it tries to drag the tender around the test track. I've not even attempted to hook up any wagons behind it yet!
  17. "North-West of London"? Where abouts are you thinking there? Inside the M25, maybe demolish Rickmansworth? Or were you thinking outside of the M25 and squashing it between your Chalfonts?
  18. I've tried trawling back through the thread with no success. Do I recall people finding that the centre wheels don't actually touch the track, resulting in a long wheelbase 0-4-0? Also has anyone seen issues with the rear tender pickups not actually being bent out to touch the wheels?
  19. It's a work of fiction I'm afraid. It's their generic wooden underframe 5 plank wagon with GW livery applied.

    GDPR (Hornby)

It doesn't upset me, it was an observation. I know what unsubscribe links are for but as these hit my Junk folder anyhow, it really doesn't matter to me. The ICO won't give a monkeys about these as, like most spam, they originate from outside the UK.
  21. Actually quite the opposite for the Lilleshall 5 plank wagon. That is based on an LMS D1892 open merchandise wagon (complete with sack barrow plank which are no use on mineral wagons) and would be more appropriate in a railway company livery. It looks nothing* like the actual wagon it is based on: *apart from having 5 planks, 4 wheels and some buffers...

    GDPR (Hornby)

^^ This, absolutely. I'm still getting spam from sources I have not signed up to. I have always been very careful to look out double negative opt out tickboxes and other such tricks, yet someone has sold my info (luckily on a throwaway account, not my main email).
  23. LA-CO is water soluble. Just water and a toothbrush is all that's needed, I use the same stuff and never had a problem with it.
  24. You're right, I should have engaged brain before fingers. Atkins et al has WWII as the "date" for the change of DCI to DCIII on the V5s.
