  1. Finally caught up on the last episode and the thread. Why are people beating on the Fawley Flyers for "not meeting the brief"? Why are Mica's with ice in them any difference to an ice factory? A chilli factory or fire station could be just as tenuous as the fire in an engine. Were you expecting 3 layouts with icy mountains and volcanoes? Personally I thought all 3 interpretations were fine, especially as the production company gave them all the ok!
  2. If you really want them, then chance it, there are some less bad ones out there. You can always get a refund on the replacements if you don't have any luck.
  3. It's become a bit more Dr WTF than Dr Who.
  4. That can be allocated as "tinkering time". Scrapheap Challenge actually had a whole day of it (not the alleged hour or so they alluded to)
  5. Spotted him 3 weeks ago in the "walking along" cut scenes. Can't miss The Hat!
  6. Just because he's taken it out to photograph, doesn't mean it has be used. EBay's item conditions are very restrictive: New A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item. See the seller's listing for full details. Used An item that has been previously used. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections. If he's not used/run it, why should he have to list it as "Used"?
  7. You can either get a rolling road or, better, a circle of R2 set track that you can put down and take up when finished to run the engines. I've found the rolling road is good for general running in, but quirky running characteristics don't show up until the loco is trying to haul itself around (or not hauling itself in the case of one of the OR Deans I had that couldn't even drag it's own tender around the test track). Given the quality of some manufacturer's RTR releases these days, it's essential to run then rather than just glancing over them so you can get them replaced in a timely fashion.
  8. No worries, Dave. If you don't ask, you never know.
  9. Bono sings in U2 is Lewis's race engineer, he doesn't make the tactical decisions, that's down to James Vowles. Remember a few races back, Vowles came on the radio to apologise to Lewis for a disastrous tactical all.
  10. Dave, is the bulk pack going to be available on any other buffers (such as B003)?
  11. I think Chris is referring to exhibition layouts in general where some people introduced to the hobby by this show will expect every layout to have animations.
  12. It doesn't matter whether it's wire or any other component, if it's getting hot enough to make other things to combust, then it's not spec'd correctly.
  13. Where are the pics for the EP? All I can find is the 3D renderings from the end of August.
  14. Well, it was one if the USPs of a certain manufacturer that every model he produced would be test personally by himself....
  15. It's normally ok for other programs and I used it last week for GMRC. Tried the website last night and that didn't work either. Just trying another prog now and I'm getting the same result - nada (apart from ads generating them revenue....)
  16. Can't get the programme up on Demand 5. I sit through (increasing amounts of*) adverts only to get present with the rotating busy icon and no programme. I was trying all last night and just given it a go this morning. *Ads started at 60secs worth and increase each time I try, now up to 100secs on about the 8th attempt!
  17. I would be spending most of each day forwarding them. It's easier to let the junk filters deal with them. If I reported them all on here, I'd have a bigger post count than even the most prolific spammers posters.
  18. Talked about last week by Scarbs.
  19. When you say a "compensated metal chassis" are you meaning the like of High Level etc? I have plenty of RTR models that run slowly extremely reliably and at least one that goes at an imperceptible crawl. These are both Hornby and Bachmann models, so it's perfectly do-able without resorting to complex mechanisms that don't work.
  20. As mentioned by others before, I've found Rapid to be very good. You also got Mouser https://www.mouser.co.uk/ to choose from.
  21. This. Some small neodymium magnets would do the trick nicely.
