Well I believe that most of the coal came direct from Agecroft colliery via a conveyer belt, so I don't know if any locos were even needed although the power station stayed open for another 12 years.
Kearsley Power Station 1982
Now to some of the less well informed members of the forum these pictures might seem off topic *ahem*
Kearsley Power Station 1970s
1982
Thanks, I've found this picture of it in April 1983 and the caption says that it stayed in use until 1985.
And this is totally OT, but it's the same location and I love the contrast between the 37 in Railfreight livery and the dirty and battered hoppers (1988)
R.Y Pickering at the Norbrit-Pickering Wagon Works, Wishaw 1973
1971
Incidentally I think that Norbrit Pickering are the company that built the TEA?? tank wagons that the old Hornby model is based on.

I've found an photostream by a guy called Gerv Wright that is packed with several albums full of Industrial steam in the 70s including one of Bickershaw colliery with 125 photos in it!

I'll post a few of the highlights from it.

I've found some pictures of the one at Boots in Beeston in 1980
This picture says it was donated to the Midland Railway - Butterley in 1981.
There's a PDF here that says that the one at Glaxo at Ulverston was still in use until 1991.

Comrie Colliery
I can't work out if the NCB had an excess of yellow paint in the 70s or a lack of black paint?
These seem to be from 1982 so perhaps someone could confirm that Comrie still used steam in the 80s?
