  1. There's an article on it's last few years in the MDRS Magazine http://www.mdrs.org.uk/documents/donkey131.pdf
  2. Well I believe that most of the coal came direct from Agecroft colliery via a conveyer belt, so I don't know if any locos were even needed although the power station stayed open for another 12 years.
  3. Not what you want to hear, but the 170s are now due Feb 2020.
  4. Last day of operation at Agecroft Power Station 1981
  5. These should tickle your modelling urges.... Slough Estates 1970 Last day of operation 1973
  6. Kearsley Power Station 1982 Now to some of the less well informed members of the forum these pictures might seem off topic *ahem* Kearsley Power Station 1970s 1982
  7. 20042 & 20209 - Deepdale Mill Street, Preston. 20094 & 20080 - Deepdale Mill Street, Preston Hudswell Clarke & Class 20 at Bedlay Colliery
  8. I don't know for sure but 1977 seems to be the last time it was photographed.
  9. Thanks, I've found this picture of it in April 1983 and the caption says that it stayed in use until 1985. And this is totally OT, but it's the same location and I love the contrast between the 37 in Railfreight livery and the dirty and battered hoppers (1988)
  10. Thanks for the info! I just love this picture from Bedlay in 1977.
  11. R.Y Pickering at the Norbrit-Pickering Wagon Works, Wishaw 1973 1971 Incidentally I think that Norbrit Pickering are the company that built the TEA?? tank wagons that the old Hornby model is based on. https://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Norbrit-Pickering
  12. I've found an photostream by a guy called Gerv Wright that is packed with several albums full of Industrial steam in the 70s including one of Bickershaw colliery with 125 photos in it! https://www.flickr.com/photos/60699808@N06/albums I'll post a few of the highlights from it. Agecroft Power Station 1977 A Class 20 and an Andrew Barclay playing chicken at Bedlay Colliery in 1979 Bickershaw Colliery 1976/7/8 A striking mix of old and new technology in this 1983 picture Backworth Colliery 1975?? Bold Colliery, Whiston 1980 Mystery location 1978
  13. There's a picture of a slide on the net that says that it was still in use in 1983.
  14. I've found some pictures of the one at Boots in Beeston in 1980 This picture says it was donated to the Midland Railway - Butterley in 1981. There's a PDF here that says that the one at Glaxo at Ulverston was still in use until 1991. http://www.mdrs.org.uk/documents/donkey148.pdf
  15. Ahh, but they aren't real steam locos though...... 1984 Undated 1983
  16. Oh right. It's a little disappointing to know that it technically wasn't still in regular use back then, but thanks for the info and the picture.
  17. Bedlay Colliery These all seem to be from 1981 so another one to add to the list??? 1978
  18. Comrie Colliery I can't work out if the NCB had an excess of yellow paint in the 70s or a lack of black paint? These seem to be from 1982 so perhaps someone could confirm that Comrie still used steam in the 80s? 1973
  19. Niddrie Landsale 1971 Frances Colliery, Dysart 1978 Undated but we'll pretend they're from the 70s 1977
  20. Own too many brake vans? Bo'ness Junction 20xxx coal from Kinneil Colliery 1975
  21. Cheers, mission corrected. From 1980 1983 1982 This is from 1979, but it shows some kind of cable haulage system. Doe anyone know what it was for?
  22. Thanks for the heads up. So that's three places that were still using steam into the 80s, I wonder if there are any more?
  23. Backworth Colliery 1971 This just screams "model me" Check out the water tank!
