  1. Information from: Bulleid Power - The 'Merchant Navy' Class by A J Fry (Alan Sutton Publishing, 1990): A large cover, the width of the coal bunker, completely enclosed the vacuum cylinders. Tender No.3124 (running with 35013) was modified this way in December 1952. Tenders 3122 (35012) and 3121 (35011) were modified in the same manner. Regards, Glenn
  2. Evening Star and the case of the moving emblem! ... interesting to see the photo evidence from different eras. Thanks to everyone who contributed to my original question/assumption. Railway modelling often proves to be a bit of a minefield wrt to details and here is another case. Glenn
  3. Interesting, so Hornby have produced a very accurate model of 92220 for the loco in its current condition. If there is an error with the placing of the crest it lies with the NRM, not Hornby. Glenn
  4. Heaven or Las Vegas - Cocteau Twins
  5. As a purely SR modeller I only have 18 A4s ! Glenn
  6. The comparison between the two Evening Star models is interesting. The one thing that stands out is the placing of the late crest on the tender side. Photos of the real thing in BR service shows the late crest where it is on the Bachmann model, on the Hornby version it lines it up with the centre axlebox which is incorrect. However apart from this and the usual bright metal tyres and buffers (which applies to all Hornby models), IMHO the Hornby model is the superior model ... ... and please make a model of 92245! Glenn
  7. Accurascale: 'We're particularly proud of the finer detail on the running plate, inside the cab and the matt paint around the smokebox' - smokebox, chimney and supporting bracket are all matt black. I always thought smokeboxes were painted gloss, although this soon dirtied down but they were never matt black; although this is definitely a trait in preservation currently. All that said, that's one fine looking model. The blackened wheel rims and 'dark metal' motion add greatly to the realism. I trust the buffers are black also. Glenn
  8. I have suggested the SR U Class 2-6-0 as worth consideration on more than one occasion. There were 50 of them (albeit 20 were rebuilt K Class) and no less than four of them are preserved! The loco wheel base is the same for the U1 Class and W Class (albeit with smaller wheels) giving a further 36 options. Please make a U-Boat before I draw my pension! Glenn
  9. I'm Gonna Run Away From You - Tami Lynn
  10. Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen
  11. More Siphons ordered by this SR modeller; it's your fault Rob! In truth I do love a 'GWR brown vehicle' for a bit of variety. I placed my order with Accurascale and received 10% discount on each plus free postage. Existing pre-order with Box-Shifter cancelled. Glenn 2-BIL or not 2-BIL?, that is a question (I don't get out much)
