Can I be so bold as to ask if you still have the Hall front bogie? I am desperately searching for a front bogie for a Manor (the Hall should fit I think), and Dapol just don't offer any spares at all even through DCC supplies....would happily offer fair price for it if you don't need it now...
Thanks,
Alan

This is truely stunning modelling - the very highest standards - you should definitely start entering some of those "how realistic is your model" photo competitions.... ;-)

Note that your speeds aren't scale MPH, but real MPH - in scale MPH the top 66 is 1.2 scale MPH, which as it looks in the video is not slow!!!
Good improvement on fitting the 1015!
Solution to split gears is to replace the gear yourself and fit it better (less stressed) by slightly opening out the central hole. This is pretty reliable at giving gears that won't split again.

You have real talent here - really high quality repaint there - all the numbers absolutely straight as a die.
Impressive.

What's the raising the bogies technique - sounds interesting?

On the responsiveness of the two locos, bear in mind they have completely different motors and gearing (5 pole skew open fram in 25, 3 pole can in the 24), and as such will perform differently.

AVOID using WD40 on models at all costs. It's the worst possible oil you could choose for the task....

Some nice slow running there - what controller are you using?

You didn't need to rip the loco apart. The bogies just unclip from the chassis block, deliberately so for ease of removal - it's a feature of all new Bachfar diesels..........
-
Worth painting the axle ends black to match the rest of the wheels - they stand out a bit too much on Dapol locos...
...this would finish it nicely.

The large wheeled bogie is really only good for display as is. To get it to work on curves you need to remove the front brake blocks. Presonally I think the larger wheels are far better and more noticable than the missing blocks, so I took this route.
It'll go round some pretty tight curves in this config - around 9" IIRC (though I don't have any 9").

Are you going to use the Farish wheels/valve gear? - I could cross your palms with silver for them otherwise as they are infinitely interestingly useful.....
-
Absolutely stunning!
I'd love you to do a step by step guide on this - particularly the wooden vehicles - the results are truely astonishing - you'd never believe that they are all actually made of plastic - the planks really do look wooden!

I may be wrong but the B17 looks like it needs that body moving back somewhat - the front overhang looks a bit large!
Hope that helps!

Love the woodwork on the wagons - that really does look superb!

"3. You can turn the gearbox round on a Dapol chassis"
VERY useful feature this. I have the plan to do that with a 9F and drive it off a Mashima, thus removing the tender drive, so I can replace the tender......and begin a conversion to something else!

Alan
P.s. If you are looking for Farish A4 shells I'm sure I have a few....

It is possible to get N gauge sound - there are a number of youtube videos of models so fitted. It won't be nearly as easy as OO, but it's not impossible by any means. Some modern rolling stock is designed with sound in mind (Bachmann 108 for instance has space for sound gear.)

Very nice Missy!
Glazing that will be.........fun !

Really looking good Julia - what will the power unit be?
-
Another nice selection there David - and Ring Road shows them off very well - few layouts capture a modern atmosphere as well as yours does!
How does that 58 go - is it a good runner? and a quiet one (difficult to gauge on the video as you've got what I like - lots of trains running !) ?

Is that a BR green 08 shunter creeping in there.....? Is it a new Farish model repainted perchance? Would be interested to see that!
Exquisite modelling as always Missy - love your structures, they are so lifelike.

Very nice weathering there. One thing that may be worth noting though - I've seen issues with thinned Matt Cote before - specifically it wearing off with time. Not sure if this could be a problem in the future when mixed with enamels as you've done, but may be worth considering giving the models a final finishing varnish coat of something more durable, such as Testors Dullcote.
Fortunately for me the model in question was a kitbuilt 4MT which lost some of the varnish from its dome - recoating in dullcote saved it - otherwise a full re-repaint would have been necessary....
-
With regards the packing I would guess it's more likely they are just using up existing packing stock rather than the models been lying around for ages - this was the same with the 24s - they are of the slightly older card sleeve design, yet at the same time stock was being shipped with the newest yellow lower halved boxes.

Alan

Your subtle weathering really brings them to life - superb.

Out of curiosity, is the livery ficticious? I thought all the BR ones were numbered in the 90XXX range?
