Sorry to here your news Phil, hope he's feeling better. Cheers chaps - been a really strange couple of weeks, job's falling to bits and nobody 'upstairs' gives a stuff... workload is through the roof, we're several drivers short, moral is at an all time low and our customers are getting the wrong end of the stick, thinking we're all workshy lazy ****'s! Talk about piggy in the middle...

Sorry to hear of your news, Nidge (and your's Phil). Apologies if the shot showing the FLHH loco was 'fat in the fire', but at least we've got our relaying done. Even bigger job coming up on the Barnstaple branch in a week or so - 16 days of blockade and 9.3 miles of track being re-laid!

  8. Another birthday in the bag and another year that's flown by... where do they all go? Daft thing is, I can remeber things from nearly forty years ago quite vividly, but forget what I had for tea last Thursday...

  18. Damn those cable thieves!!! Temporary Block Working between Daw Mill and Nuneaton again today causing no end of grief for passenger and freight alike. Clamp down on the b*gg*rs at the receiving end and the thieving toe rags will have no excuse to nick the cables in the first place.....grrrrr, etc...

I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to bury the cables really deep, and build plenty of redundancy into the cable route at the same time, so you don't ever need to dig it up again...

Its the whole culture of scrap dealing that needs looking at, when you can go into a scrap dealer and BUY perfectly usable bundles of copper pipe, there’s something wrong.

  19. dangerously tempted by the lovely G Scale 78xx Manor I've just seen in the modelshop near Princes Risborough station... make it stop!!

  25. Enjoyed one of the best days ever on the SVR yesterday with D821 and D1062, especially once darkness had fallen... I can still hear those mighty Maybachs now. Deep joy, well done the DTG & WLA!

D9520 was good value also. Couldn't cover the evening trains due to lack of babysitter. 50031 did exactly what was expected of it, pop!

Well at least the 50 behaved like they used to on the big railway! Had a storming late evening run with D821 heading north before the rear engine gave up... for a brief moment it was very easy to imagine it was going up the Cornish Mainline in the dead of night at full pelt. Top stuff.
