  2. Light Railway Stores or Dundas Models can supply 009 wheels or Graham Farish N gauge wheels are an option. https://www.lightrailwaystores.co.uk/ https://dundasmodels.co.uk/webstore/index.php I'm not sure anyone actually markets axles for 009

    KR models Shay

Have to say i'm really looking forward to the Shay. Its running very nicely. Hopefully my new layout will be running by the time it comes out.
  4. At the SGC meet in November there was lots of locos & stock on the 7mm NGA On30 depot tables. Well worth joining if anyone wants to get into On30. I sold all my On30 to them earlier in the year and was very happy with the offer I received for it.
  5. Good to see, the Blue Box locos run very well and personally I prefer the metal handrails to todays flimsy plastic offerings that usually don't match the loco in colour and misshapen over time.
  6. Not that it matters that much but i've asked my brother and he says the model shop on Geneva station was called Cardiff Brother's Trains. He went in there in 1998 but we think it had closed in 1999 when we went. They had said they were planning to retire when we were in there in 1997. We didn't go to the one at Elmwood.
  7. There used to be a good model shop in the Geneva station building, the name escapes me at the moment. My brother and I visited in 1997 and possibly in 1999 (my memory is not working well today!!) The dilemma was browsing in there or waiting for the next freight to come through. We missed a couple of trains. Thank you Jamie for posting your photos, been very enjoyable looking at them.
  8. I was in contact with Colin on the 4th August and he said he wasn't in that week. He didn't say why or when he's back in but I guess it will be soon.
  9. I bought one of these pallet breaker tools. It works well on newer pallets but older ones with rusty nails isn't quite so easy and the slats tend to split. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184862133413?epid=5034041589&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2b0aa44ca5:g:CDEAAOSwpQBgs5Ji&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACgPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsS7UXID%2BRPOSNsnm8kYPghtO9DT23wgcJGytJy2H7pqSWrgKX%2Bw6rB3MaZXhW8A0w2GE5NbyVLCyNnpuhU%2BC1UkXjvfggQyhAix9HwL10HTTZh6i%2BQV6jjOXn%2F4HAkXOEJge7rvwWcoqNc6EehAvY8yMK7Zy6PFLLjuTpSEPJgjqU8ZXXzaclCBXqALEvO3gCa0bcZ1KJHza%2B2ukvYyeTBm7DLgLWt0lp89316fSIiy%2FF82Phz3hvMM89IBhsNrHT7LeXS1fYQAdwsRNbUHIQHGFDf7OzP9AQ%2BWEWadOgBguT05A1e2WFZ5%2Fbr9aSSeSsOsEBUxRMwd%2BxuZ2h10AxRICBe2CRQxf%2F4FjxlMYnob1x0Vi7HcPF0PkkEklsRefs1piekZ2sp9M9JHOm6xel%2BUvBUQ7sLKhlW1A%2BdHhPtjbOZcBGpbZC3j1jz2KoHdTdqNUROq%2Fmj9sgn7tYZgcDioEMuzuYNEnWPjbBwAL4Hi5E18%2FnFtZChHOACXrCSuLVdxjBRztYuh7hy5LrsV2ELLdoLPiu9ZASuLv1C6AZoCj748HmSR1aeoKZBn6lE9iPthTOEz5teUsQLKe7r8un5ud%2FO7LNchOyH7ZyeMU30ST6J01iKVEovaxePTGe39ywB9U1s%2Bnr%2B1RmGFTtn7AuZsVLsn3oFzPQiPEL9kNq4Xowlov4v479cda3tpyTJirvH4KnuQ1Tan8p8sUEG3UnN7NA%2FCLF2jRAFxH3UWMT1OVMcOVrvpBKU8%2BOPW%2B%2FNWz0%2B06HTKHAIemJoXkRrcjbY4DS1InM0g0%2BNMCpEHmn%2B%2B5Q%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524
  10. I haven't bought any decals for 2-3 years but I had been getting them from TMR Distributing in Canada https://www.tmrdistributing.com/presta/index.php Terry is very helpful and soon gets in anything he hasn't got. Postage was reasonable last time but I suspect would be a bit more now. I hadn't been charged the Royal Mail fee or Vat, might have just been lucky.
  11. I've just started in HOn30 myself and have aquired a few bits of Minitrains items. Also their Krauss loco chassis is very similar in size to some of the US Porter locos so I intend to scratchbuild body based on the Yosemite Short Line Porter for it. I have also just bought a number of Yosemite Short Line resin freight car kits from Railroad Recollections in Canada. http://www.railrec.com/ They do a variety of other kits too. As others have mentioned there seems quite a bit available on Shapeways.
  12. I emailed him directly as I couldn't find them listed on the website. Or give him a ring.
  13. I bought the latest issue just before Christmas from Bill Hudson Books. https://www.billhudsontransportbooks.co.uk/
  14. Does anyone know of a UK stockist of the 2021 Walthers Catalogue? Not been able to find one online.
  15. The Norfolk & Suffolk NGM have decided to cancel the 2021 March open day in Beccles, Suffolk. Theres very little sign of any improvement for such events over the winter months We will aim for the first Saturday of March 2022 for our next one but may have a smaller event later in 2021 depending on the Covid situation. Please keep an eye out for updates.
  16. After my supplies of Polly Scale were exhausted I've used the Vallejo Matt Varnish and find it brushes very nicely. A couple of light coats works a treat.
  17. A lot of things happening now require visitors to be in a fixed position and prob more spaced than before. Pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres type of venues. The trouble with exhibitions is that the visitor is constantly on the move and often grouped around a small area i.e. a layout or trade stand. Its very difficult to know what to do with exhibitions. Our group show is usually in March and we use quite a compact hall that I don't think would be suitable at the moment. We're holding on until prob early December before deciding what to do. Hopefully if things remain stable over the next few months something positive maybe able to happen in the new year.
  18. Model Junction has this set of Modelflex paint if its of any use? https://www.modeljunction.info/paint/48314-modelflex-east-coast-railroad-colors-paint-set-2.html
  19. Our group (Norfolk & Suffolk Narrow Gauge Modellers) are due to have our April meet on Monday 6th. Obviously its cancelled. Our members are generally old, I'm currently the youngest at 44 so certainly wouldn't want to risk anything. I've asked members to email me a couple of photos and a brief description of what they have been doing and i'm going to put them in a Flickr album which i'll then email to the group. Hopefully it will keep the group inspired to carry on modelling. A report will then go on the groups website.
  20. I believe they were made by Roco or certainly the chassis and were very/are nice runners. I remember my dad getting three UP liveried ones and was amazed at how they ran. Very nice models for the time.
  21. Just a week to go to our show. We will be using four rooms again this year including one in the adjacent building.
