  1. Because they know there are mugs out there.
  2. I like to watch model railway operation. One of my favourites is Bradfield Gloucester Square, never saw it in the flesh but often watch it on Youtube. It runs through a day's timetable and is near two hours long. The Bradfield Chronicles.
  3. Never been home this early from the Wigan show before and that's with a 30 minute delay getting out of Robin Park area due to an accident.
  4. The best way of making the code 100 slip like an electrofrog one is to replace the 'V' rails.
  5. Cat for sale. Unused. In original packaging.
  6. Is there now a standard wiring convention for the 4 pin jst loco to tender connections. I recently put sound decoders into two Hornby Duchess locos which had previously run on dcc so was just a case of swapping chips. As both tenders looked the same I thought no more about which loco they paired up with. I didn't put them straight back on the track but went to set their profiles into the roster in Decoder Pro. Reading all sheets showed no problem but when I tried the throttle there was no sound or movement. It transpired that the loco to tender connections were wired differently and the motor outputs on the tender were connected to the pickups on the loco. Luckily No damage had been caused to the decoder, this may have been down to the sprog and decoder pro, I don't know, but there was no error warning. Anyway, I am now moving the 8 pin sockets from some other locos and putting them in their tenders and using 4 pin jst connectors and want to follow a wiring standard if there is one. As it was, the jst pins on Duchess of Abercorn were wired 1-4-8-5 from the decoder socket and Duchess of Sutherland were wired 4-1-5-8.
  7. A couple of years ago my son bought me a heated bodywarmer powered by a rechargeable battery pack to keep me warm on my winter walks or out in the garden. I wear it indoors sometimes when I don't need the whole house heated. On the high setting it can get too hot but it automatically turns down after five minutes. Battery last quite a while too and has USB outputs so can be used to charge a phone, etc.
  8. Beautiful plumage though, the Norwegian Blue.
  9. Are any details available regards provisions for fitting a speaker?
  10. Dapol have just announced some new LMS bracket signals. I was hoping for a balanced bracket with the same sized dolls to use for platform starters. I did ask them to consider it when they first introduced the bracket signals.
  11. Social media is awash with adverts for plug-in energy saving devices claiming they will save you £££££s on your electricity bill. They contain an led circuit and a capacitor. Maybe you are supposed to put one in every socket in the house leaving nowhere to plug anything else in. A similar device also claims to save fuel when plugged into your cars 12v power outlet (fag lighter).
  12. My version of Mailwasher doesn't look in my Gmail spam box.
  13. I too bought most of my stock when prices were more reasonable. Looking at my Hattons' invoices I can see I bought multiples of some locos, Bachmann Super Ds @ £68, 8Fs @ £47, 3Fs @ £56, DCC fitted Jubilees at £56, 4Fs @ £76, L&Y Tanks @ £68. Then they drop to singles when they went over £100 with the Compound @ £112, Coal Tank @ £101. My last loco purchase being a Hornby Princess @ £171 in January 2019. Bachmann and Hornby are firmly off my shopping list now. I have one outstanding pre-order from Kernow of a steam railmotor and that will be my last. So, the cost of living crisis will have no effect on my hobby spending
  14. They are still there, marked as sold out. LMS pack GWR pack.
  15. I have had quick replies from PECO using Facebook, the media some frown upon.
  16. A friend of mine changed over to dcc about a year ago as he wanted to run sound locos of which he has a dozen or more now. However, he has not delved into what dcc can do, he runs his locos as they came on the default number three. He gets irritated that he had to put locos in a dead siding or remove them from the track because they run when he doesn't want them to. He likes to run them double headed but has problems when one of his locos has the whistle on F2 and the other has active braking on F2. The one with active braking doesn't stop when he turns the speed control to zero and he then has to turn the power off to stop it, he is blaming 'stay alive' which they don't have. I have tried explaining over the phone but I have to give up. He is happy though and swears he would never go back to analogue.
